I can't seem to find how the original creator made this effect and he isn't around anymore. As you can see, the horizontal lines make the image appear as a ribbon and I just can't get the same effect.
When I select text in photoshop cs4, it seems to invert just the luminance (forgive me if my terminology is incorrect). That is to say, it doesn't change the color of stuff in the background, but it does invert whether it's light or dark. I've added an example to this post, the top text is selected and the bottom is not. I like the way the top selection looks and frequently would like to be able to do exactly this, and apply it to whole images. What's happening when you select text, is there a specific name for this effect, and how can I replicate it?
i've been driving myself to the edge of crazy over the past few hours trying to replicate this effect. i'm by no means a photoshop expert (obviously), but have used it for the past few years. still, i'm stuck at this and maybe it's really easy to solve. the effect i'm talking about is the following:
note how on the left side of the graphic, the item seems perfectly even with the background, yet on the right side it's "standing out" as if it was a sticker i have no problems achieving the background effect, but i'm stuck at how to get this effect done. i've tried rotating the graphic, twisting it, distorting it, but i can't seem to be able to replicate the effect correctly.
I'm trying to replicate the type effect (upper arc and lower arc combined) that's shown in the example below in Illustrator. So far, my attempts haven't been fruitful. The example might be hand-drawn and there might not be a way to do it in illustrator.
I work for a small non-profit and we don't have the resources to use the sort of freelance designers I would love to use, so I have to do a lot in-house. Recently I saw an effect that I would like to replicate.
It's a small image but you can see that it's a picture that's been blended with a cool blue effect. I would like to do this, but am not sure how to get there.
I'd like to replicate the text effect in the image posted here. Colors are not a factor because it will be toned when complete. The effect appears to have the text washed out in parts as well as not horizontally aligned. The alignment part isn't that critical however . the washed out look is what I'm looking for.

Rather than flat white color text there seems to be elements of grey of differing shades giving some depth to the text and also what I presume is a drop shadow beneath.
This is probably easy as pie to do, but I'm new to GIMP and don't know the term for this technique.
I previously used Gimp 2.6. When using the clone tool, I would press CTRL to set the source. When I would being painting with the clone, the source would move relative the mouse pointer location and I was able to make sure the gradients were correct.
With 2.8 it looks like the source stays put and I cannot clone see to get the gradients I am working with to clone right because I have to stay in line with the source. How to replicate the functionality of 2.6 with it?
I work with textiles and have to deal with fabric texture and wrinkles in Photoshop. The workflow involves applying a guggasin blur, grain and motion blur. This produces an acceptable result which is not realistic. Sometimes I use the mezzotine filter to reintroduce the fabric texture lost during the blurring. additional recommendations to deal with fabric wrinkles?
I need to connect a rapport with others(print on fabric for textile industry). It looks like a mosaic, however the pieces doesn't connect side by side at the same height, but side by side sometimes higher, sometimes lower . The thing is: when I try put then together the limit of the layers create an edge that prevents connection.I'm sending some images to try to make this clear: 1- all layers together with the thin line between the 2- closer to junction 3- closer 3200% to see what really happens.
When the image is magnified 3200% we can see clearly that this "crack" is actually the edge of the layer that has become a bit clearer, then edge with edge, it creates an impression that there is a line in the overall picture. And I can not just cover it because each layer will be duplicated automatically by a machine rapport. So is there any way to make the edge of the layer does not check clearing?
I have some geotextile sheets of specific dimensions (that's 45mx5m)Â and a surface (not a regular one) with grades ranging from 3.5% up to 34%.I would like to "fit" those sheets on the surface (which should overlap one another by .30m (see attached image)) but not project them, (that's why I don't believe "drape" is the proper word).
Meaning that since the 45m dimension is facing up/down slope, the length should be less in projection (see attached image) and that should be calculated automatically since the surface is a very irregular on (not like the attached dwg which is included as an example).
I am trying to customize Autocad 2012 ribbon tab. I can't seem to find how to mimic the small arrow that appears in several of the standard menus. For example, in the 3D Solids - Home Tab, the second panel from the left is "3D Solids Home - Mesh" It has a small arrow in the corner that opens up a preferences dialogue box.
How can I add that arrow to a custom panel with that little arrow so that I can add my command to it?

I scanned a photo I have of an Elvis impersonator and made this image, but I need to have the image at 300 dpi instead of the 72 dpi that I originally saved. So, I rescanned the image at the desired resolution and size, but I can't seem to remember how I got it to look like this.
I been trying to get the outline as in the above image, but i just cant get it right. I tried adding a Stroke, but every time i get smooth edges, instead of getting them like the above image. Is there a way how to get the outline around the numbers to look exactly the same?
I have been trying to figure out the best way to replicate lane striping in 3ds Max. I am using survey data, so I would like the striping to match exactly.

I made this image a while ago and I can't remember quite how I did it. What I can remember is that I used rendering clouds and adding noise, channels, and changing the color at some point. I did most of it from this video: [URL].... Â But I didn't do everything from it, I tweaked something, it may have been the lighting rendering. Â The reason I want to recreate this is because I need a version of it in higher quality. It's supposed to have a rock texture look to it, and I made it look golden. Â how to replicate this.
