Need to make border glossy like below image
In order to do that, I've expanded this shape and created a ellipse with no stroke above button, with transparency/screen. This is what I got:
Now I need to get rid of the rest of ellipse, so the button will be transparent on upper boundaries. Inner part of button should be white, but whatever I put between button and ellipse should receive glossy effect. How to do that?
How can I draw a continuous stroked line with a fill, so that it overlaps and covers the previously drawn part of the line? I'm trying to draw some text so that it has an effect like in fig. 2 of the attached picture, not fig. 1. Is it possible to make somehow? For a simple image like this I could of course manually remove the few lines, but for a more complex text it's not possible, and I can't seem to find a solution myself.

However, when I type in 0.5 and then go to use the brush it just turns back to 1px
So, should I assume I cannot make a stroke smaller than 1px?
I have been a Photoshop hobbyist. Now I own a printing business. This has forced me into the world of Illustrator for our printing and cutting machines. Although I am very comfortable with PS, Illustrator. One of the key things is making "Cut lines" in Illustrator to send to the cutting program. Now here is my dillema, all of my images I have made are in Photoshop. To make these cut lines I have to stroke the image. When I bring a picture into Illustrator I can not get it to stroke that picture. It just strokes the box around it, or unless I draw a circle or shape around it and stroke that shape. Please refer to the picture I have attached. The first one is a decal that we initially made. The second is the image that I want to stroke for cut lines do I can just have that as a decal without the white circle.

I want the eyeball elipse to disappear as it goes into the eyelid stroke.
I think I remember this is possible in Illustrator, that you can make strokes that are for maps, like railroad tracks and the like. I need to make a 'zipper' and even the most simple line with cross perpendicular lines at regular spaces would do the trick for me. It's rather tedious to try to make these on a random direction path, but I need to know, is it possible to make a stroke that does this?

I want to show only parts of this image at a time, so that the viewer sees it in increments. However, I want to make the edges look more organic, like brush strokes, so that it looks almost as though the painting is being completed and the viewer gets to see the process.
p.s. I'm in CS2, unfortunately, so the bristle brush isn't an options
Why is the first dash shorter than the rest?
When I preserve the dash like this The first dash doesn't start at the beginning of the path...
So I looked up how to reverse the path and found this [URL] but my object options don't have the "reverse path" option
EDIT: I just realized that changing the direction of the path wouldn't work because it would mess up when it's too close to another path (although I still would like to know how to flip the direction regardless).
I need the frame of the image below as a stroke style (or at least I prefer that above having to copy-paste the elements of the sides 100 times along a frame in my design )
The thing is: it contains gradients. How do I get the frame to a stroke style so I can easily use it in Illustrator?
Is there a way to make a custom vector brush smoothly meet at beginning and ending of the stroke, such as with a circle? I'm trying to create smooth circles with a brush and Wacom. I want a brush rather than a mathmatically perfect circle with a perfect stroke weight-thickness, but I don't like how the two beginning and ending join up. i like the slight variations of human imperfections one gets when using a vector brush, but there must be a way to make the joing points look more smooth, rather than an after-thought prgramming fault, right? Is it possible?
The image below shows my attempts to make as smooth a joint as possible, but it still looks too much like it wasn't meant-to-be.
I'm using Ai CS4, Mac OS10.8.4

I already know that the font is Agency FB. I don't care about the camouflage look or about the shadow. I'm just interested in the 3D effect. How can I get this effect with Illustrator CS5?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I need to make some text with the reference image, what effect I should use for that dotted splash look.

When I do it using Effects/pixilate/color haltone it makes multiple colored halftones, whereas I just want one color. And when I change the channel's it comes up with similar results.
I have attached an image for blend opton in fx ribbon.

How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
I am building a specialized map for my local area with territory borders that need to have 8-pt strokes around them. Because each territory needs to live on it's own layer (to be printed seprately after the overview map is done) I found the easiest method to be selecting each territory with the polygonal lasso tool and then make a new Layer via copy and then gve the top layer the stroke effect I need. I worked fine when the strokes were at 100% opacity, but I later decided that each stroke should only be at about 60% opacity so that you can see the roads, rr track and other details beneath. In this case, the problem arises when territory boundaries overlap (as pictured below) because the stroke transparency of becomes additive where the 2 strokes overlap.
what setting I may use to make these strokes so that they can overlap and appear with absolute 60%transparency?
I am using Photoshop cs5 win version.
I often use Layer style - Stroke Effect, to get strokes, but If I apply the effect to a layer, the stroke is always feathered, antialiased. Do you know how to remove those antialiased, semi-transparent pixels?
I need all pixels to be 100% opacity, because it's much easier to edit, easier to select. I always use Threshold adjustment layer with white solid layer to get crisp, aliased stroke pixels, but It's a little bit time consuming, so If you know the faster, much efficient way
when I tried downloading and installing this INCREMENT app from the Exchange Store. First, I can't get this to run at all. If I go into the CUI settings dialogue, I don't see this plug-in listed anywhere where it should appear. It had occurred to me that maybe the only way this app works is from the plug-in tab and not from the command line, but I'm not sure that makes any sense, either seems it should work either way, if I'm interpreting the documentation correctly. But, I cannot make my ribbon tab appear to check out my probably mistaken theory (see above). Navigating around the CUI dialogue and checking the settings for my tab, I see that it is set to "show" and there is every indication that it should appear, but there seems to be something buggy or suspicious going on with the
Control-0 (clean screen) toggle and/or the Control-9 (command line) toggle as well?I don't see how either of these would have any affect on the visibility of my tab, if they were toggled to the correct setting. I am the only person using this workstation so it's not like there is a profile issue at work here.
I am new in the autodesk customization, I have autocad 2013 and visual studio 2010..I am interested in make a custom ribbon tab, where I can put a button.
I have found some (incomplete) samples to implement a custom ribbon tab, but I dont know how to "insert" my tab into autocad 2013, and how must I load my tab? with a command? or it can load automatically?
I would like to make my "Layers" Ribbon wider so that I can read more of the layer name that what is currently shown. Where do I find this option in the CUI?
