I have two layers. One is completely red (r255,g0,b0). The other layer is completely green (r0,g255,b0).
How can I make it so that if I lower the opacity of the green layer (which is above the red layer), to 50% that the result is completely yellow (r255,g255,b0)?
I've tried all the blending options, none of them achieve this basic effect. The closest I got was something that looked like a darker orange.

I'm trying to simulate water in a community game I am building. I need to create a good number of frames to test one method, but I don't know how to go about it. Since these would be height (bump) maps, color is really not necessary. Basically, I need to create frame by frame to simulate water. The game engine will actually paste them together to form the animation.
The problem is I just don't know how I can go about creating the ripples frame by frame. I'd probably like to try to make 50 frames or so. I know about the ripple filters, but how would I use them to create a series of frames?

I was wondering if there was any possible way to create volumetric light in photoshop without using 3rd party plug ins. The effect i'm after is an exploding light kind of thing coming from an object in multiple directions...if you don't quite understand i'll post a picture of the effect.

Ive seen a lot of this type of graphics pop up everywhere for sometime now. And i know from the animated clips that a lot of it is done in 3d. But if i were to create it in PS as a still frame, how do you go about making it look the way it does? I can imagine you could do it by creating lines and making copies of it and varying each a little bit, add some color overlays etc etc. And then there is the motion blur effect theyve got on it. Not sure how to go about that, but overall that looks like a lot of hard manual labour.

I have 2 problems that I'm trying to solve.
1) on the attached, how do I produce the effect of the shaky light on the brick floor that can be seen on the 2 lights in background behind the swimming pool (tried shadow effects option)
2) the fire on the left hand side (in front) still looks too superimposed, even though I've tried some of the things I was advised to do on a similar post (adjust vibrant mid tones, use burn tool etc).

I'm trying to create a "blue glow/light rays" around an image of the planet Earth and I can't just seem to make it look realistic like this image here:
How to do this technique? You can find a planet earth image by searching for NASA BLUE MARBLE and it's free.

Having trouble creating arrays of ceiling light fixtures in Revit 2013? It gives me this error message;
'Can't place inserts outside of hosts. These elements won't be copied'
I've adjusted all manner of settings to make sure the copies don't fall outside the limits of the host ceiling but without success. It only occurs with linear arrays on ceilings not radial arrays for ceilings or linear or radial arrays for walls?

I am trying to create a light fixture with a head that can rotate in two axis so that the light can aim up or down and left or right.
I have been unable to create a light fixture that can rotate up and down as shown in the Revit help files.
Here is a resume of my two attempts at creating this and the reasons why they failed:
Embedded family solution: The embedded family will not rotate vertically even as a face based fixture hosted on a line reference. If you rotate the line reference in the horizontal axis, the hosted embedded fixture ignores the rotation and does not follow.
Unique family solution: The light source will not move even if it is locked to a reference line, it evokes an error.

I am trying to create a Schedule that figures out Light Power density for each room. The first issue is getting Lights to register what room they are located in. The next issue is getting the room area parameter to show up in the available fields. It is funny b/c Volume shows up but not the room area. How hard could that have to been to add that to the available list since volume is there.

I am trying to animate a casino-like light board made of tens of light bulbs/leds. I thought the easiest way to do it would be creating a matrix of bulbs arranged by material ID and then design a pattern in multi sub-object materiel so I could somehow scrub through it and achieve animation effect. The material modifier allows to change ID for the whole object only and MaterialByElement shuffle ID`s in a random manner.

I am attempting to build a facsimilie enigma machine, I would like to know how best to create an effect so that when a key is pressed a corresponding letter appears to light up. Btw I am not looking for an animated image, I can take care of the transitions between on and off, I just need to create the two image states.

How do you lock the pivot point of a light to the light itself? I thought just adding a Axis node would move the light and pivot point but the pivot does not move. Is there a way of parenting them together?

How do I use the standard Revit can lights in a wood joist floor with drywall applied to the bottom? If I place in a suspended ceiling, can lights light up just fine. However, if I use them in the floor space of a wood joist floor, the light itself gets covered with the floor. How can I get the light to cut the floor out so I can see the light when it is rendered?

I can't get Ctrl + Alt + ~ keyboard short cut to work which selects the highlights in an image. The problem is that on my keyboard I have to press Alt Gr to make ~ so can't use Ctrl + Alt + ~ . How can I change the short cut? I know that you can select the highlights by "Select -> Color Range.. -> Highlights" but the result is not as soft as with the short cut. Are there any other ways to select the highlights?

In analog photography, various soft focus filters will create a glow in the highlights, without blurring them (a slight loss of contrast, but no loss of resolution). I've tried a duplicate layer, Gauss blur, lighten blend mode.... just got a glowing blur....

I am using a Nikon D200 and Photoshop CS3. I am shooting 1 stop plus/minus and merging to HDR. It seems that the highlights are always getting blown out much more than the middle image. The shadows are brought up fairly well, but the entire upper end of the curve seems blown out with loss of contrast. I have been experimenting with different methods during the 32 to 16 bit conversion to correct it but have not been so pleased with the results. I can get the highlights back down, but the upper end is fairly washed out with loss of contrast. It seems like the middle part of the curve is also pushed up a bit which would account for the loss of upper end contrast.

I've been using the HDR merge function over the last few days and happily converted numerous images successfully. However, all of a sudden, pictures from the same photo shoot are being converted incorrectly and the HDR function is causing the highlights to be red and completely blown out. I'm doing nothing different and all the lighting is the same as before. Does my software have a bug?
I've just tried doing the HDR merge on the same files in my old Photoshop CS3 and I don't get the problem. Perhaps there's a bug causing it???

problem is I think they're using an older version of photoshop and mentioning shortcut keys. I can't control+click the menu text layer, i want to know how I can 'select the pixels'
