Oct 31, 2012I'm using DP7, and working on a logo with 3 different shapes. They all have bevels applied to them (applied at different times and angles). I like having the light angle direction arrow to drag around to see the different effects from different angles but the arrow isn't always visible. What do I need to do to keep it visible, or make it visible? If I hit Ctl+B or Ctl+F the arrow will appear but the selected object will also move to the front or back at the same time. I've tried selecting the object first, then the bevel icon, and sometimes that works and sometimes not, although the outer bevel arrows will be visible. Even when the rotation arrow isn't visible I can change the light angle with the slider but I would prefer the rotational arrow instead.

Nov 15, 2004when I got to stage 8, I got stuck somehow. I selected the whole image and clicked crop, but when I clicked clt-alt click on starburst layer, and following by the clt-shift-I,there was a warning that popped up saying no pixels selected. I am stuck at here and have tried all ways countless times. Cld someone kindly help me out or are there any images to follow the tutorial at step 8 so that I can better understand it? What is the starburst layer?? The black one? Or the transparent one!!

Mar 10, 2009Ctrl/Cmd-Click the 'starburst' layer, then press Ctrl+Shift+I (MAC: Cmd+Shift+I) to invert the selection. Create a New Layer and fill the selection with white, then Deselect. Now fill the Background layer with black. And you can now delete the original black layer with the transparent starburst on it; the one we started with. You can now also give your new white starburst layer a proper name - "starburst".
I hit Ctrl-Click (I don't have a Cmd key), but nothing happens. I make a new layer, try to fill it with white, nothing.

Apr 19, 2012Ive seen a lot of this type of graphics pop up everywhere for sometime now. And i know from the animated clips that a lot of it is done in 3d. But if i were to create it in PS as a still frame, how do you go about making it look the way it does? I can imagine you could do it by creating lines and making copies of it and varying each a little bit, add some color overlays etc etc. And then there is the motion blur effect theyve got on it. Not sure how to go about that, but overall that looks like a lot of hard manual labour.

Jul 24, 2012Having trouble creating arrays of ceiling light fixtures in Revit 2013? It gives me this error message;
'Can't place inserts outside of hosts. These elements won't be copied'
I've adjusted all manner of settings to make sure the copies don't fall outside the limits of the host ceiling but without success. It only occurs with linear arrays on ceilings not radial arrays for ceilings or linear or radial arrays for walls?

Nov 16, 2011I am trying to create a light fixture with a head that can rotate in two axis so that the light can aim up or down and left or right.
I have been unable to create a light fixture that can rotate up and down as shown in the Revit help files.
Here is a resume of my two attempts at creating this and the reasons why they failed:
Embedded family solution: The embedded family will not rotate vertically even as a face based fixture hosted on a line reference. If you rotate the line reference in the horizontal axis, the hosted embedded fixture ignores the rotation and does not follow.
Unique family solution: The light source will not move even if it is locked to a reference line, it evokes an error.

Mar 16, 2012I have 2 problems that I'm trying to solve.
1) on the attached, how do I produce the effect of the shaky light on the brick floor that can be seen on the 2 lights in background behind the swimming pool (tried shadow effects option)
2) the fire on the left hand side (in front) still looks too superimposed, even though I've tried some of the things I was advised to do on a similar post (adjust vibrant mid tones, use burn tool etc).

The next issue is getting the room area parameter to show up in the available fields. It is funny b/c Volume shows up but not the room area. How hard could that have to been to add that to the available list since volume is there.

I thought the easiest way to do it would be creating a matrix of bulbs arranged by material ID and then design a pattern in multi sub-object materiel so I could somehow scrub through it and achieve animation effect. The material modifier allows to change ID for the whole object only and MaterialByElement shuffle ID`s in a random manner.

Jan 13, 2012I am trying to model I-Beams to s solid. I put 3d polyline around the front "I" then a path down the middle of the beam. I have tried extrude, sweep with aligned to path, and sweep not aligned - then put a patch on both ends. Use the command "surfsculpt" and it will not convert due to not being water tight. I delete the 3d poly and path line before patching.
We only have 2011 - Civil 3D.

Aug 13, 2013I'm running Inventor 2013 professional and I want to design a steel structure for stress analysis. But I can't find any DIN H-beams (HEB, HEA in accordance to DIN 1025) in the "insert frame member selection".
Isn't it possible to use DIN H-beams in Inventor frame generator? Can I add my own parts to the library for stress analysis?

Oct 25, 2011I have a situation where need to frame a W14x30 into a W14x61. When I perform the Notch command, the W14x30 is only partially notched. The W14x61 is taller by .05 in. I tried to notch the W14x30 by ending it at the flange edge of the W14x61. I also tried to notch by ending the W14x30 on the other side of the W14x61, both attempts yielding no results.
