I am trying to create a cut in the back of this chair, I don't know how to make a cut with multiple angles. I attached the back part, all i need to do is figure out the cut in!
So I am trying to make the Odin chair, but I am stuck on how to go about it. Since its arcs on two places. (It bends, as the same time its round on the side.) I am not experienced in autocad so could be I am missing a tool to make this shape. In 3D max its super easy with the BEND modifier. But need to make it all in autocad this time.
So is there a way to do it ? Any tools I should look at ?
I've designed a flat pack chair in model space...now I'd like to print all the various bits of this chair so that I can transfer the measurements easily onto a plywood board (to build the chair from scratch). I don't have a plotter, but my Canon MP610 can print in poster mode where large drawings can be printed onto a grid of several A4's - e.g. 16 sheets of A4's arranged on a grid 4x4 - enough to print the biggest part of the chair scaled 1:1.
I want to print a view of the joints of this chair. I need a section to show through the cut (plane X, 300 units of height).
I go to Layout, have a mview, and on the layout I try to use the section (I tried that button really), but it filters what I choose. Why does it filter the view?
I would like to animate the chair with 1 dummy and just have the casters follow and rotate when the body of the chair rotates , instead of keying the casters individually. Is this possible with constraints?
Basically, I have one dummy that controls the position and rotation of the chair. As the Chair goes forward or backward, the casters will need to swivel around and would be following the chair from behind. Likewise, when the chair rotates, the casters would swivel and follow from behind. Would this be Wire Parameters?
I have a video rocker chair that I need to be able to change its color or its pattern depending on the fabric material I have for the chair. So I have a picture of the Chair and I have pictures of the different patterns (sports teams, hunting scenes, ect.) I would like to overlay the different patterns onto the picture of the chair while maintaining the shadows and wrinkles of the original picture of the chair. I have PhotoShop 10
I have a picture of a red velour colored recliner type chair that i want to make white instead of red. I've been messing with the hue/saturation but cant really get it. The thing is that there are parts of the picture where the velvet texture is naturally darker than the rest of the spots, and to keep the chair looking real and 3d, they have to stay a darker color than the white color I want to make it. but when i use the hue options, it just lightens everything on the chair.
The default color of the Chair-desk.rfa under Furniture/Seating is an unusual color, not of a standard office chair color. I was able to change the textile family color of that chair to the Leather - Dark Brown color which is available in the default material library, but I would rather like it to be of a gray color, maybe medium gray or a dark gray. I could not change the color of the seat fabric to gray, at least I do not see a gray leather in the materials fabric/leather library. How to change the color to gray?
I'm trying to create or simulate a back light as highlights for a portrate photo. When the picture was taken there is no back light and the picture looks very flat. How or what are some of the methods use to creat back light as highlights for a portrait photo?

I seem to have lost my menu bar, and can't figure out how to get it back. I know how restore standard toolbars, but the menu bar is not in that option.
I back-up a 23 GB library to two external hard drives about once a week. I always wipe out the previous back up set and copy and paste fresh each time and let it run.
Ive also been thinking of adding an online backup (carbonite etc) as another failsafe.
How do automatic back-ups work in the realm of parametrically linked files such as Inventor. Im a little worried about that concept.
I was working on my .idw and my autodesk inventor 2012 fatal errored on me. Well when I re-opened the program and drawing all my work was gone. Does inventor have a back up file like autocad. I know autocad had 2 back up files (.sv$ and .bak). Does inventor have anything like that?
Is it possible to set up a project in inventor that when you save it locally it will also c to the 360 cloud location?Or must you set up a project with save paths directly to local 360 partition? Then syncing is done automatically from there?
I have changed my settings in all of my templates to metric. I create a new assembly, add the part (yes, it is set to metric), I now create my first new part in the assembly. When I start to sketch it changes back to inch. How do I set it so it stays metric? This is Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012.
In working with Autodesk Inventor I accidentally exited out the menu that displays all my different extrusions and sketches. what this menu is called and how I get it back?
In Inventor 2013 the work and origin plane back color is missing or transparent on one of my workstations. The borders are present. Planes funtion normally.
I have tried different color schemes and have have edited the registry <workplanebackcolor> value , to no avail.
I regularly generate models which have a front end (body) of a known shape but differing in size, to a back end (shank) again of a known shape but differing size.
So, is it possible to take pre-drawn blanks of both front end (body) and back end (shank) to join them up to create a new model/part? I'm assuming it's combine bodies but I'm not sure how it works!!
Normally I use two monitors, but I'm travelling. Because I last placed the extrude box on my other monitor I can no longer get access to it on the only screen I have left. Normally, as with any window, you could hit Alt+Space and M but....the blasted mini-toolbar takes focus first!! It seems that all the other menus don't have this, only extrude. Is there any way to reset menus when disconnecting? There really should be. I'd say that the program ought to know that there is only one monitor connected and respond accordingly.

I had with a custom texture not showing up on my parts while they were showing up on a coworkers computer fine. I recently cured my own issue (I just needed to click Textures On in the View toolbar under Appearances). I am thinking it is going to be a simple fix as well but I have not been able to find it.
Everytime I close out of a part or assembly it automatically turns the textures back off so I have to turn them on everytime. I looked through the Application Options and Document settings to keep textures turned on but could not find anything. How to turn the textures on and leave them on?
I recently change the volume of a part thinking that it would change the actually size of it. It didn't effect the size at all and now I don't know what the actual volume of the part is anymore. How do I find out the part's actual volume?
I need a simple iLogic code that lets me copy iProperties of my choosing from my assy and to a Part, and grab som iProperties from my part and put into Assy iProperties.
the Assy and part are always named the same, and placed in specific folder, so i can easily locate the files.
I have been searching the forum without finding anything i have the skills to adjust to my needs...
It should be like this..: (not written in correct code but you´ll get my point.. )
'Get partnumber from active assy or part, depending what you have active
