I want to print a view of the joints of this chair. I need a section to show through the cut (plane X, 300 units of height).
I go to Layout, have a mview, and on the layout I try to use the section (I tried that button really), but it filters what I choose. Why does it filter the view?
So I am trying to make the Odin chair, but I am stuck on how to go about it. Since its arcs on two places. (It bends, as the same time its round on the side.) I am not experienced in autocad so could be I am missing a tool to make this shape. In 3D max its super easy with the BEND modifier. But need to make it all in autocad this time.
So is there a way to do it ? Any tools I should look at ?
I am trying to create a cut in the back of this chair, I don't know how to make a cut with multiple angles. I attached the back part, all i need to do is figure out the cut in!

I don't have a plotter, but my Canon MP610 can print in poster mode where large drawings can be printed onto a grid of several A4's - e.g. 16 sheets of A4's arranged on a grid 4x4 - enough to print the biggest part of the chair scaled 1:1.

When creating section view sheets how do I control where the section view is in relation to the print area. I understand I can use the data bands to force the sections left and right but what about vertically? I end up with sections drawn right on the line and the labels are outside the print area, see below.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a CAD dwg with an embedded OLE object (Microsoft Excel). I am able to edit the text with no problems, but I am not able to resize the viewing window in CAD.
I have reset the 'print view' in Excel several times, hoping that this would render the problem. However, it is still showing 1 row of extra cells that I do not want to see.
My issue is this: While trying to print or pdf a drawing in (lets say 8.5x11) layout view, the edges get cut off. It looks as though the template I copied is too large to be printed in full. If this were the case, wouldn't it be the same even if I tried printing in extents? It still does the same thing printing in extents.
I am using Mechanical 2012.

I would like to animate the chair with 1 dummy and just have the casters follow and rotate when the body of the chair rotates , instead of keying the casters individually. Is this possible with constraints?

Basically, I have one dummy that controls the position and rotation of the chair. As the Chair goes forward or backward, the casters will need to swivel around and would be following the chair from behind. Likewise, when the chair rotates, the casters would swivel and follow from behind. Would this be Wire Parameters?
I print the file and it looks like the View Cube and Navigation Bar print on the page. I print it a second time and I don't see it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a picture of a red velour colored recliner type chair that i want to make white instead of red. I've been messing with the hue/saturation but cant really get it. The thing is that there are parts of the picture where the velvet texture is naturally darker than the rest of the spots, and to keep the chair looking real and 3d, they have to stay a darker color than the white color I want to make it. but when i use the hue options, it just lightens everything on the chair.

I was able to change the textile family color of that chair to the Leather - Dark Brown color which is available in the default material library, but I would rather like it to be of a gray color, maybe medium gray or a dark gray. I could not change the color of the seat fabric to gray, at least I do not see a gray leather in the materials fabric/leather library. How to change the color to gray?

I have been trying to work out how to make interlocking joints in sheet metal parts. The attached screen shot is the only way I have found to do it in Inventor, but it is a cheat. One of the flanges is a 85˚ bend because if it were 90˚ it would give an error "Flange Body intersects with existing body or self intersects."

I consists of triangular panels which is joined together with different angles. (see attachment)
I have tried to model it in 3d with autocad, but I can`t get the joints to be precise.
I am going to produce this panels with our cnc-router in a 12 mm mdf board.
The panels has to be mitered in the joints.
I have the following questions:
Is it possible in autocad, to model this figure and separate each panel, with the correct angles on the edges?
Is there a way to switch off the animation when creating joints in the assembly environment.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been teaching myself inventor over the past couple of months so I can design the rear suspension setup for my car.
I've got the IRS modelled with enough detail to show my engineer the concept, but I want the suspension to "work", ie each link will move as the suspension flexes.
I'm attaching the arms (blue, dark green, red and yellow) to the cradle (orange) using the joint command, and selecting "rotational". This works fine and the arms can swivel about a single axis as they should. But as soon as I attach the knuckle (lime green) to the other end of all the arms using the same type of joint (except the joint with the blue lower control arm, which is a ball joint), nothing will move.
I understand that in real life, each joint has a bit of "slop" in it, allowed by rubber bushings, which prevents the whole setup from binding.
To my uneducated mind, the solution would lie in one of 3 methods: Convert all the joints to ball joints (I'd like to avoid this if possible) Add some kind of flexible rubber bushing to all of the joints (probably not possible) Get rid of the rotational joint constraints altogether and somehow mate all the parts to each other using work points, rather than a cylindrical bolt and eyelet, so that each arm has full range of movement in both the X and Y axes.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I run 'updates' for Photoshop CS6 the 'view' > 'print size' option disappears & has been replaced with 100% which is not the same thing! I am a designer & need to view 'actual scale' on screen while working & 100% is much, much bigger than this. I have tried playing with the screen pixel ratio & modes as I am on a retina 13" macbook pro but this doesn't make what I see 'real size' on 100% mode either.
I want to benefit from the other functions that the updates provide without this function being disabled. Each time I try running the updates, the same thing happens & I have to reinstall Photoshop from my original CD (therefore loosing all my saved brushes & patterns which is annoying).
How can a file be exported in the Print view?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently began using Unity at work, exporting from Maya does not allow me to keep Blend Shapes or Deformers (not even by doing a Geometry Cache, Unity does not read any of that) and wanted to test out how to make a facial rig using joints in case I ever need one.I have seen demos using 3D Studio Max and I see the gist of it is to create a round joint hierarchy around the mouth and eye, mimicking the edge flow. The place where I got stuck is when I saw a NURBS controller in Max move a parent joint without affecting the children joints. I know how to move a parent joint without affecting its children (press Insert) but not how to set a constrain to do the same in Maya. If I use a parent constrain or direct parenting moving the parent joint drags all the children along.
How can I get a constrain to affect only the parent joint and not its children?
