Next i was planning to Subtract the smaller tube with the large to create a tube but I am having trouble selecting to subtract to make a hollow tube. I'd like to evaluate to see if there is a easier way to draw so that it is easy to modify down the line.
After using Custom Profile for Frame Generator, the Part List will show total length, not individually. How to split these frame members?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created an extruded aluminium profile (attached file: Item Profile 8 80x80) which I published into the Content Center. When using this profile in a frame design, and using the Trim To Frame command, the profiles are trimmed at a weird angle (attached pdf file).

There should be a way to Notch a straight frame to a curved frame! I want to laser cut the tube, so I really need to trim one tube to a curve tube.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI come across this problem from time to time and generally either just ignore it, if the detail is destined for in house manufacture, or alter it in autocad if it's destined for exterior suppliers.
Our guard frames are manufactured from extruded aluminum section (made by a company called palletti) I have when needed created a new frame generator frame member for each new x-section that we wish to use. I then draw a 2d sketch for the base frame skeleton and then a 3d sketch for all the frame work above. This I then use in an assembly to create the framework. This framework assembly then goes into a second assembly where the framework is then adorned with all the accoutrements that make up a guard frame that we can then order as an assembled frame, panels feet, hinges et al.
When placing the views for the detailing of the second assembly sometimes the view will show the wrong length for one or some of the frame members.
;note how the left and right views are different and how some of the frame members are elongated on the lh view.
I'm guessing its because of the home grown frame members but all seems to work well other wise and this only happens infrequently.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I am trying to make the Odin chair, but I am stuck on how to go about it. Since its arcs on two places. (It bends, as the same time its round on the side.) I am not experienced in autocad so could be I am missing a tool to make this shape. In 3D max its super easy with the BEND modifier. But need to make it all in autocad this time.
So is there a way to do it ? Any tools I should look at ?
I've designed a flat pack chair in model space...now I'd like to print all the various bits of this chair so that I can transfer the measurements easily onto a plywood board (to build the chair from scratch). I don't have a plotter, but my Canon MP610 can print in poster mode where large drawings can be printed onto a grid of several A4's - e.g. 16 sheets of A4's arranged on a grid 4x4 - enough to print the biggest part of the chair scaled 1:1.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA way to rig a chair and have the casters follow?
Basically, I have one dummy that controls the position and rotation of the chair. As the Chair goes forward or backward, the casters will need to swivel around and would be following the chair from behind. Likewise, when the chair rotates, the casters would swivel and follow from behind. Would this be Wire Parameters?
I have a video rocker chair that I need to be able to change its color or its pattern depending on the fabric material I have for the chair. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a picture of a red velour colored recliner type chair that i want to make white instead of red. I've been messing with the hue/saturation but cant really get it. The thing is that there are parts of the picture where the velvet texture is naturally darker than the rest of the spots, and to keep the chair looking real and 3d, they have to stay a darker color than the white color I want to make it. but when i use the hue options, it just lightens everything on the chair.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe default color of the Chair-desk.rfa under Furniture/Seating is an unusual color, not of a standard office chair color. I was able to change the textile family color of that chair to the Leather - Dark Brown color which is available in the default material library, but I would rather like it to be of a gray color, maybe medium gray or a dark gray. I could not change the color of the seat fabric to gray, at least I do not see a gray leather in the materials fabric/leather library. How to change the color to gray?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently looking into the API for Inventor 2012 in order to try and automate a few processes that we do within our comapany.
What I am trying to do is access the functionality that the "Insert Frame" or Frame Generator function brings to Inventor by using the API. The basic functionality that I am looking for is to be able to draw a steel beam from Inventors library by using the API, similar to the way the "Insert Frame" command handles it. Is this possible? I have looked into the API documentation but cannot find anything.
While using the frame generator's "Trim - Extend to Face" command on short members, the wrong end of the member is being trimmed. Is there a way to choose which end to trim on short members?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a report from a frame analysis of an arrangement of I-Beam steelwork. I need to check that I have placed the nodes in the right order and this is reflected in the results of the report. I have the parent and child nodes connected at the ends of the beams as shown on the attached screen shot. I'm interested to know if the order in which I have selected the nods makes any difference to the results. There a 3 node connection points at each corner section.

I'm trying to generate frame members around a combination of 2D & 3D sketches, the preview is fine however when I click apply and OK it magically vanishes
Everything is set up fine in the 'Insert Frame' dialogue box and the previews look spot on.
