View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to draw a spring that is wound from 8mm diameter wire with an inside diameter of 22mm, the standard for a spring consist of one and a half turns at each end and the center lines throught each side. Springs are normally wound and then ground at each end to give a flat surface for accurate seating.
I am currently using autocad 2011.
I am trying to draw an elliptical coil spring with top and bottom radius of 2 in and center radius of 3 in with 5 turns and spring ht of 5 in. the wire guage is 0.1in.
I could draw a cylindrical spring with helix and sweep command but don't know how to draw an elliptical coil spring. What are the commands or steps to get it. Also, I have problems in getting dimensions of radius and height for the coil spring. I use autocad 2014.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the smallest object I can draw and "SEE" in AutoCAD? I was hoping to prove a point in my introductiory AutoCAD class, but it appears I have been lying!! I tried to draw a cirlce with a diameter of 1.24E-10m. The dot shows up, but I cannot zoom to it. I tried using an enormous zoom scale, but did not have any luck. I am almost positive my instructor introduced the capabilites of AutoCAD by drawing a full scale helium atom, and that was release 14. Is this still possible? Obviously the atom can be drawn, but what are the zoom limitations?

I just got hold of the formula for it, and just went WOW......I'm not even going to start to understand that....let alone write a routine for it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI’ve an already drawn inclined line from a fixed point (saypoint (0,2) on Y-axis). The inclination is also fixed (say 150 tothe horizontal). My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. The diameter of the circle may vary to make the line perfecttangent to the circle.

I use Inventor 12. by the way I sent two photos (scanned by Microsoft Security Essentials-no problem), the spring in the photos was made by design accelerators-as compression spring. I want from spring to move with the other parts but it doesn't. For instance when I pull the blue part down, blue part, and the spring go the into of each other.

View 5 Replies View RelatedInventor offers us several options to design a coil of constant pitch with a tapering diameter. However, I am unable to create a coil with a taper and a changing pitch at the same time.
We are using Inventor 2013. I would like to produce similar parts as the attached 2D drawings in 3D, only with a changing pitch (distance between revolutions) per revolution. Can it be done? There is software for the CNC spring manufacturing machines to produce such parts. Therefore the proper inputs to produce these effectively and efficiently, are available somewhere.
The part I've been describing uses .09 diameter wire and has about 54 coils in about 8 inches. The starting inside diameter is about .53" and the pitch is about .27" the ending inside diameter is .109" +/- .01 with a pitch of about .091".
Here are 2D drawings of similar parts, the last (NF3) is closest to what we need.
I have a piece of steel that I need to flex. It is a piece of blue tempered spring steel pressed against the corner of a brass pressure transfer. The opposite end of the transfer is tangentlly constrained to a latching mechanism. When the latching mechanism is lifted, the transfer rotates slightly around a screw (made invisible) and the spring is flexed. When the latch is released, the spring returns the latch to the closed position. I have several other assemblies that use the same principal, but some with just a piece of mild steel used as a cover as well as a spring.

As for Inventor I'm using 2012. It is the first time I have come across this sort of problem I thought of doing a single coil and creating a sub assemble of it around a construction line arc rad with each coil mated and rotated at an angle to the other but then thought that there must be an easier way of creating this spring.
