View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't make a spring moving according to other parts' behaviour. I use Inventor 12. by the way I sent two photos (scanned by Microsoft Security Essentials-no problem), the spring in the photos was made by design accelerators-as compression spring. I want from spring to move with the other parts but it doesn't. For instance when I pull the blue part down, blue part, and the spring go the into of each other.

it is possible to make such a part from sheetmetal in order to create a flat pattern with Inventor 2010?

View 1 Replies View RelatedInventor offers us several options to design a coil of constant pitch with a tapering diameter. However, I am unable to create a coil with a taper and a changing pitch at the same time.
We are using Inventor 2013. I would like to produce similar parts as the attached 2D drawings in 3D, only with a changing pitch (distance between revolutions) per revolution. Can it be done? There is software for the CNC spring manufacturing machines to produce such parts. Therefore the proper inputs to produce these effectively and efficiently, are available somewhere.
The part I've been describing uses .09 diameter wire and has about 54 coils in about 8 inches. The starting inside diameter is about .53" and the pitch is about .27" the ending inside diameter is .109" +/- .01 with a pitch of about .091".
Here are 2D drawings of similar parts, the last (NF3) is closest to what we need.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a piece of steel that I need to flex. It is a piece of blue tempered spring steel pressed against the corner of a brass pressure transfer. The opposite end of the transfer is tangentlly constrained to a latching mechanism. When the latching mechanism is lifted, the transfer rotates slightly around a screw (made invisible) and the spring is flexed. When the latch is released, the spring returns the latch to the closed position. I have several other assemblies that use the same principal, but some with just a piece of mild steel used as a cover as well as a spring.

As for Inventor I'm using 2012. It is the first time I have come across this sort of problem I thought of doing a single coil and creating a sub assemble of it around a construction line arc rad with each coil mated and rotated at an angle to the other but then thought that there must be an easier way of creating this spring.

I use inventor 2011 and i want to create a spring animation. I followed this video step by step but when i constrain the upside and the downside of the spring to those plate objects i get an error.

I cant seem to find out how to assemble the spring to the rest of my item.
Will you be able to use the assembly if I do not provide the parts used(maximum 3 uploads)?
I can't find a way to create multi flat patters in one part from a lofted sheetmetal part. Also, didn't the developers fix the 'can't make a flat pattern from a derived part'?

Can I use the spring generator to design a spring for me? I know my spring rate, my loads and my dimensions. I don't care how many active coils the spring has as long as it performs to the specifications I've calculated.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA multi-part question:
1.) How do you recommend I model a rectangular spring?
2.) How do I apply the concept from the initial question and apply a curve to the spring?
3.) How do I mimic the properties of a spring in animation?
I have a unique part that needs to be generated in IV. It is a sping that follows a curved path (see attachment). I do have complete information, just need to draw it in.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to animate the model so that it moves like a whip antenna.
I would like to show the spring flexing back and forth with everything above the spring moving side to side as spring moves.
I have tried several ways to do this but have not had any luck. I haven't done a lot of animation.
I have attached the assembly and parts.
It doesn't have to perfect it's for a presentation.

I'm designing a hinged cover for something right now that will use a pair of gas extension springs for assisted opening. I'm currently working to figure out how much force it will take to open the cover using different values of spring - it's available in 50, 100, 150, 200, etc., lb versions.
I've tried running simulations using a force applied to the moving end of the gas spring, and I've trued running simulations using a spring joint applied between the fixed and and the moving end of the gas spring, and I'm getting dramatically different results between the two. For instance, using a 200 lb force shows me that I need about 25 extra lbs of force applied to the handle of the cover to open it, where when I use that same 200 lbs on a spring joint, I need 50-75 lbs to keep the cover closed, because it will open on its own.
I want to insert a spring in an assembly, and for that i will make a spring with the coil command. if i will squeese it between surfaces, will it resemble a spring? will the bindings come closer (i hope they are called bindings, otherwise tell me how they are called)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need a conical spring that can change in pitch as it tapers. Basically the spring starts in a compression style and tapers down to an expasion style. Since I am creating the output file manually I gather the flat pattern boundaries and bend center lines for output to a file.
When I add flat pattern sketch entities to the mix they do not overlay properly. What matrix would I have to push the sketch entities through to get them to the same coordinates as the flat pattern?
I have a dxf file of a 3d model (cant attach as it exceeds the size limit) that I need to have put in a 2D dwg file. basically I need to flatten it to make a top and front view of the model.
I haven't work in 3d in some time and never worked with dxf files, so I'm not even sure this is possible. I tried opening the dxf in auto cad, but it doesn't seem to find the file..I cant see dxf extensions.
warping an image. I want to take a series of CD's and make them look like they are sort of tilted, and lying flatish.
What I am trying to do can be seen in the image I posted called Example.jpg... what I have right now is in the file called cds.jpg.
I can create the 3-d box, no problem, but how would I lay the cd's in a tilted fashion?
I tried all the warp tools, but they don't seem to work to get the job done. I'm sure it must be user error!
I tried perspective, and used Shift and dragged in the bottoms... but I made a royal mess of it.
How should I approach the image? Should I fan the Cd's out in a semi-circle first also?
And should I group this into a smart object first?
