View 4 RepliesCan PSCS6 record stamp tool strokes in an empty layer? I am unabel to create an action using the stamp tool on an empty layer above the background layer.
The strokes appear in the emty layer but I am not able to replicate the strokes using an action.
Are actions created using the new "allow tool recording" option in PSCS6 backward compatible to previous versions? IOW, would an action created under CS6 using this option play correctly in CS4 or CS5 versions?

However, I'm using elements 8 (cause I'm poor) and there is no pen tool option. I've never downloaded any plugins either so I wouldn't know where to look or how to install them (if its complicated).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?
The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.
So i hit the little "T" text tool, and i get the generic Windows 7 "This program has encountered a program and needs to close" error. I click out of the error box, and all my work disappears as well as any changed preferences and recently opened files. The same happens when i try to use Image> Adjustments>HDR Toning. Yay. And what's funny is BOTH errors display a fault module of "CoolType.dll."
I have tried EVERYTHING that everyone has posted about on every computer-related forum that i could find. NOTHING has worked at all. I deleted every single font minus the system fonts, including anything mentioning them in the system registry. Tried new copy of the dll file, nothing. Reset Photoshop preferences, nothing. System restore failed. Uninstall/reinstall of entire Adobe Master Collection failed.
Oh, and in the 32-bit version, HDR Toning works but the text tool gives me an error message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized." And, well, i just don't want to use the 32-bit version.
I'm trying to compare a selection made with the Auto-Enhance check box on and off with the Quick Selection tool, though I'm not seeing a difference. My understanding is that it gives the selection a smoother, less blocky edge,
1. even though I'm not seeing a difference, is there a reason to just not keep it checked all the time?
2. Can you apply this checkbox after making a selection or only prior to doing one?
With the burn tool one can use it several ways. The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows. Each option changes the burn shade slightly. Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.
One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects. Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.
All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture. It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors. In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper. But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.
So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?
Using the zoom tool, there is a check box to select whether a zoom will also "Resize window to fit." Is there a way, using the _keyboard_, to select or toggle whether I want the window to resize when I use the zoom tool? I often want to go back and forth between asking for the resize and prohibiting it, but I don't want to have to go up with the mouse to click on that little check box all the time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I noticed a slightly peculiar behavior in the Clone Stamp tool when "Aligned" is deselected. Clicking twice on the image with alt or option held down causes the behavior of the tool to change and "Aligned" to become checked. So if you're not planning on using aligned, you alt/option click your mouse for the source point, decide on a different source point, alt/option click again, and suddenly you find yourself using an aligned clone stamp.
This does not happen with the Healing Brush Tool, which makes me think it's not an intentional short cut. It's also mighty irritating. I've tried it with both x64 and x32 CS6 on Windows. Happens on both. Does it also happen on Macintosh? Is there any way to switch this behavior off?
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
I reset Photoshop's preferences and the specific tool and all tools twice to no effect. Shift works fine to select for a perfect circle or rectangle the option tool is just not working to select from the center.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having the darndest time figuring out what I'm not understanding with this, "bug". (I call it a bug because it seems to be one, imo.)
Specs:
Mac OS X 10.75
Creative Suite 5, Photoshop 5.1
"Issues":
If I adjust paragraph settings, like indents, in one file, those options do not return to default when I start a new file. Thus, I find myself wondering why I have such large gaps between lines of copy or to the left, etc. when I start a new text layer. (This actually happens not only in new files, but in new layers - the latter is slightly more understandable in that it's the same file.)
When a lightbuld goes on for me: "Check your type settings." And, lo-and-behold, there things are: space before or after a paragraph; right or left indents. All settings that used to be cleared when a new file - or a new layer - are opened. This is excruciatingly annoying. If I apply a layer style (e.g., drop shadow) to a shape layer, and then I create another shape layer, the latter one automatically gets all the same style settings applied. That is, the new layer has the all the same layer styles applied to it by default. Meaning, I have to then delete those as they are often not what I intend.
In any case, it used to be that I could choose what I want my own new files and layers to look like, not have previously used settings automatically applied.
I bought and downloaded PSE11. However, I don't think I disabled my virusware. It took an especially long time to download and I don't know if it downloaded correctly. My blur tool does not work and my "guided" options are not there. What is the easiest fix- uninstall and remove the serial number then reinstall using same serial number? My question with this is- how many times can I do this, and or is there an easier fix? I have PSE11 and LR4 and I am going back and forth between which one to use. I really need all the options to work from PSE11.

Now, the Attributes Eye-Dropper tool becomes useless. Seems as though something went quite wrong in the programming office.
I would like to measure the distance in assembly.
The distance is between two hole axis.
I use Measure Distance tool.
I do not have the “Select Other” option to choose axis supposedly pop up ofter the preset delay time. Seems like Application Option – General – Selection is responsible for that?
But it is checked to ON as on pic attached. My laptop machine works fine with the same settings.
Is there any trick to increase the intensity of the "highlight" option of the crop tool?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to CS6 two weeks ago and so far I haven't recorded a single action that has not been EFFED UP in some way! I'll record the action on a test file, but when I run it on another file or a batch of files it will have at least one bizarre mistake...like the saturation will be set to 100%...or a channel in Selective Color might be set to -78%...or the opacity of a layer will be 100% instead of whatever lesser value I set it to when I recorded the action! I check the test file and it is always fine.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI've recorded an action which resizes images, but for some odd reason, when I play the action it won't.
Does an Image Resize actually work when being 'played' back through an action?
I've been using PS for a long time now but never really had to use the actions in PS, now I know how to record actions in a specific order and whatnot, but I have a minor issue; I have about 2220 images I need to re-size, crop, cut certain pixels etc. etc. etc. out of - all these images are and will be the same size when I'm done, but the thing is I don't know how to get the program to do all the pictures on it's own.
My first step I recorder was opening the image, so I opened the first image, made all the required adjustments to it, saved it, and closed it. Now if I play the actions all over it opens the one image I opened when I did the recording and goes through the steps and that's it - but I want it to open the next image and go through the same steps, and the next one, and the next one and so on.
Where can I find feather option and smooth/refine edges option in Adobe Element 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to CC from CS4. In CS4, when recording an action I could set the rulers to percent and a percentage-based value would be recorded rather than a pixel value. For example, if I recorded the creation of a vector shape that filled the entire canvas, the step in the action would create a 100% by 100% shape, starting at point 0%, 0%. This allowed me to run a batch on varying canvas sizes, and get a shape that filled the canvas no matter the size. In CC, it always records pixel-based values no matter what the rulers are set to.
