Photoshop :: Recording Percentage Values In Actions In CC?

Oct 20, 2013

I just upgraded to CC from CS4.  In CS4, when recording an action I could set the rulers to percent and a percentage-based value would be recorded rather than a pixel value.  For example, if I recorded the creation of a vector shape that filled the entire canvas, the step in the action would create a 100% by 100% shape, starting at point 0%, 0%.  This allowed me to run a batch on varying canvas sizes, and get a shape that filled the canvas no matter the size.  In CC, it always records pixel-based values no matter what the rulers are set to.

Photoshop :: CS6 Actions Recording Bug?

Oct 22, 2012

I upgraded to CS6 two weeks ago and so far I haven't recorded a single action that has not been EFFED UP in some way! I'll record the action on a test file, but when I run it on another file or a batch of files it will have at least one bizarre mistake...like the saturation will be set to 100%...or a channel in Selective Color might be set to -78%...or the opacity of a layer will be 100% instead of whatever lesser value I set it to when I recorded the action! I check the test file and it is always fine.

Photoshop :: Recording Actions And Using Them Properly

Jun 17, 2006

I've been using PS for a long time now but never really had to use the actions in PS, now I know how to record actions in a specific order and whatnot, but I have a minor issue; I have about 2220 images I need to re-size, crop, cut certain pixels etc. etc. etc. out of - all these images are and will be the same size when I'm done, but the thing is I don't know how to get the program to do all the pictures on it's own.

My first step I recorder was opening the image, so I opened the first image, made all the required adjustments to it, saved it, and closed it. Now if I play the actions all over it opens the one image I opened when I did the recording and goes through the steps and that's it - but I want it to open the next image and go through the same steps, and the next one, and the next one and so on.

Photoshop :: CS6 Recording Brush Strokes In Actions?

May 19, 2012

CS6 seems to only record a path and pen pressure for brush scrokes fails to record brush size and color. When Actions are played the stroke will play with the current foreground color and the current brush size not the color and the size that should have been recorded.

Photoshop :: Actions Stopped Working After Downloading More Actions

Aug 31, 2004

I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).

Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.

I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.

I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.

I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.

one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.

Photoshop :: Opacity Percentage

Jan 18, 2007

This is something that i never really gave much thought - but what value do the opacity parentages really have?

See my assumption was that 50% + 50% = 100%. So if you had a solid black layer set to 50% opacity and you duplicated that layer one would think that it would be solid black again... but no is only 75% black. WHAT?

The other thing is that solid black with and opacity level of 50% over solid white is a true 50% gray which is half black and half white - do to half's not make a whole?

Photoshop :: Set Navigator Zoom Percentage

Apr 24, 2013

Any way to set a default zoom percentage value in the Photoshop CS6 Navigator panel?I normally zoom in and out using the CMD and + - keys, which give 12.5%, 16.67%, 25%, 33.33%, etc.I would like to set the value at the bottom left of the Navigator panel to 31.5%, then click and somewhere and save this as one of the default settings, so that it would replace,33.33% or come between that and 25%

A bit of a strange value I know, but I've found that this value gives me an image on the screen that is the same size as what I get out of the printer.bind having to type in 31.5 over and over again in the Navigator.

I am trying to create "degraded" stimuli for an experiment - specifically, I'd like to remove a consistent percentage (70%) of pixels from an image and replace them with solid black. It is important that the pixels are removed in a random fashion - that is, if I modify a series of images in this way, I don't want the black areas to always appear in the same portions of the images.

Photoshop :: Relative Move By Percentage

Aug 25, 2011

I'm trying to define my own watermark (just a piece of text) and define it as an action so that I can apply it as batch.

I'm creating a text layer as the signature, and I would like to move this text layer to the lower right corner of every image. For this, I'm trying to find a move by percentage command that will work for any image size. i.e. the signature must appear at 90% of the width and %92 of the height, regardless if the image is 2592x1728 or 1728x2592 pixels.

How to do a 'move by percentage' or alternative ways to achieve this?

Photoshop :: CS6 - Recording / Grouping And Playing Action

Here is where the problem comes into play however...First time I play the action it shows up perfectly in the layer  panel. The 2nd,3rd attempt an  so on, the action that  is grouped (the same action or another grouped action) will show up all jumbled in the layers panel. Sometimes the adjustment layers show up outside of the group while others the group appears to have "eaten" the first group of actions I ran. why can't I stack the actions I have written?

Photoshop :: Recording What's On Screen In CS5 On Separate Layer

May 4, 2012

Is there any way to record a Photoshop maneuver like airbrushing onto an otherwise transparent layer so the end result is an animation? The real world equivalent of what I'm trying to do would be to have a video camera behind glass and a spray can spraying the glass from the other side.

I know there are programs that record what's on screen but I don't think they allow you to have a transparent layer. I may be able to use one of those programs and key out the non airbrush background. I'd like to be able to import the animation into Premiere so it looks like paint has been sprayed over whatever clip is underneath the airbrushing frames.
