Are actions created using the new "allow tool recording" option in PSCS6 backward compatible to previous versions? IOW, would an action created under CS6 using this option play correctly in CS4 or CS5 versions?
View 3 RepliesCan PSCS6 record stamp tool strokes in an empty layer? I am unabel to create an action using the stamp tool on an empty layer above the background layer.
The strokes appear in the emty layer but I am not able to replicate the strokes using an action.
To save backward compatible doesn't work in CC. I can't open the file in CS6. Why?

I was interested in upgrading to Vid Studio X6 Ultimate but wanted to know if X6 will be able to read and properly load the .vsp file for this project which already has many clips, transitions, effects, and audio. Or, should I just stay with X4 until December when my project is finished and then upgrade starting next year's project fresh.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to CS6 two weeks ago and so far I haven't recorded a single action that has not been EFFED UP in some way! I'll record the action on a test file, but when I run it on another file or a batch of files it will have at least one bizarre mistake...like the saturation will be set to 100%...or a channel in Selective Color might be set to -78%...or the opacity of a layer will be 100% instead of whatever lesser value I set it to when I recorded the action! I check the test file and it is always fine.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS for a long time now but never really had to use the actions in PS, now I know how to record actions in a specific order and whatnot, but I have a minor issue; I have about 2220 images I need to re-size, crop, cut certain pixels etc. etc. etc. out of - all these images are and will be the same size when I'm done, but the thing is I don't know how to get the program to do all the pictures on it's own.
My first step I recorder was opening the image, so I opened the first image, made all the required adjustments to it, saved it, and closed it. Now if I play the actions all over it opens the one image I opened when I did the recording and goes through the steps and that's it - but I want it to open the next image and go through the same steps, and the next one, and the next one and so on.
I just upgraded to CC from CS4. In CS4, when recording an action I could set the rulers to percent and a percentage-based value would be recorded rather than a pixel value. For example, if I recorded the creation of a vector shape that filled the entire canvas, the step in the action would create a 100% by 100% shape, starting at point 0%, 0%. This allowed me to run a batch on varying canvas sizes, and get a shape that filled the canvas no matter the size. In CC, it always records pixel-based values no matter what the rulers are set to.

I saved these action sets and loaded them into CS6. and they kept failing saying they couldn't find layer "Shape 1" "Shape 2" etc . this is because in CS6 the layers are now called "Rectangle 1" "Elipse 1" etc . How can I get this to revert back to the "Shape 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc".

I've read the FAQs, done the Import Presets, the pop-up box says they have been imported, I've re-started CS6, but there are still only the default sets. The subject (car) just changes colors.
Let's say that there is a spot I want to clone out on each layer, (shown above as a black smudge) but when I do, the results are somewhat different every time. I'm looking for consistency.
Is there a way in CS6 to create a Tool Recorded Action to sample an area on a layer, clone out the ugly, then repeat the process on the layer below?
*The goal here is to sample an area initiated on Layer A (Yellow) and clone out an area on Layer A (Yellow)...
..then use the action to sample the exact same area, but this time sampled from Layer B (Orange) to clone out that same area on Layer B (Orange).
I want to get the same results on every layer so the look on every color is uniform.
I almost got it to work, but my problem occurs when I look at the details of the action.
If I could duplicate the steps and change the "Source: layer" to the layer name below, that might do it.
Also I used the shortcut CTRL + [ to "Select backward layer". When I look a the details on this it says "Without Make Visible." Is there a way to do this WITH MAKE VISIBLE?
I have an old document from an installation that no longer exists.It has a background gradiant created using the gradient tool and I clearly modified that and in all probability saved it as a preset.
However I now need to edit it, how do you edit gradiants created using the tool? Or should I have used a mask and blending to retain editability.
I'm using a Wacom intuos 2 and working up some illustrations, but whenever I create a new layer, the brush tool goes completely defunct and makes absolutely no marks on the document. I have gotten in the habit of just restarting Photoshop, and then it works.

For example, my text begins horizontally, continues to the right, and gradually curves downward. As the text curves downward I would like it to taper smoothly into a narrower and narrower text.

Now I have tried everything, from grouping to compound paths etc, but nothing works.
How do I extrude my path?
Is there a way to change the default Style Set that is used by the tool?
I don't want [All Codes] to be used, and since I created a style for the project I'd want to be able to use it when creating corrridor using the tool.

I see that I am allowed to specify more than one path for tool palettes. When that is done, which path is used if a user creates a new palette?I have some custom palettes on the network. They swap each other out using the hidden toolpalettepath variable. As part of that, they also include a button to restore the path to the default local folder. I am considering placing all of the delivered ones on the network but also want users to have a way of adding their own and having them placed in a standard location under their network user area.

They are in a group at the moment and how to join the shingles other than converting them all to poly, making a selectable list and attaching the list to a shingle.

For example, add a cube (1 segment in all direction), convert to editable poly and select one edge, chamfer it a little bit to make it rounded, now there's clearly a loop of edges there, but it's not selectable by using the loop selection.
