Photoshop :: Type Tool :: Different Copyright Actions
Jan 3, 2005
I was trying out some different copyright actions. I started over with a new image and tried to type using the type tool. No "type" could be seen on the image or layer. However, the text could be seen on the "Layer Palet".
I'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?
I want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
My Type Tool does not select type by double clicking or click and drag. (Windows CS 5 V15.1). This is what I have tried so far and the problem still exists. Â Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it. Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it. Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
Working on a poster in Illustrator. Have added area type, using the type tool. Now I'd like to increase the size of one line. I can't select or edit any of the type with the type tool. I moved the type to a new layer, saved, closed Illustrator, restarted my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). Looked in preferences, in case there's an issue there. No luck. Â By the way, I also don't see handles when in the selection tool any more. Don't know if that's related.
the type tool won't let me insert any type whatsoever in JPG or PSD files. I click the type tool and then click somewhere on the image and all it gives me is a dot but no flashing cursor. As I said, resetting my prefs/settings while starting up Photoshop did not help. Another weird thing it does is that when I go to Canvas Size for a medium sized image, it says that the width is 588 inches and the height is 288 inches.
I'm trying to import Actions and tool presets from CS5 to CS6. I've read the FAQs, done the Import Presets, the pop-up box says they have been imported, I've re-started CS6, but there are still only the default sets. I looked at:- Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets, it is there, but has 0 bytes.
Can PSCS6 record stamp tool strokes in an empty layer? I am unabel to create an action using the stamp tool on an empty layer above the background layer.
The strokes appear in the emty layer but I am not able to replicate the strokes using an action.
I'm working with a file that has multiple layers that with almost exactly the same content.Â
The subject (car) just changes colors.   Let's say that there is a spot I want to clone out on each layer, (shown above as a black smudge) but when I do, the results are somewhat different every time. I'm looking for consistency.  Is there a way in CS6 to create a Tool Recorded Action to sample an area on a layer, clone out the ugly, then repeat the process on the layer below?  *The goal here is to sample an area initiated on Layer A (Yellow) and clone out an area on Layer A (Yellow)...  ..then use the action to sample the exact same area, but this time sampled from Layer B (Orange) to clone out that same area on Layer B (Orange).  I want to get the same results on every layer so the look on every color is uniform.  I almost got it to work, but my problem occurs when I look at the details of the action.  If I could duplicate the steps and change the "Source: layer" to the layer name below, that might do it.  Also I used the shortcut CTRL + [  to "Select backward layer". When I look a the details on this it says "Without Make Visible." Is there a way to do this WITH MAKE VISIBLE?
40+ years ago I bought a book from a dealer who sold antique Scottish books. It is A4 in size and has 400 B/W photographs of Scotland.
There is no date in the book but the pictures are late 19th century & early 20th century. There is a reference in it regarding the opening of a new railway line. That line was opened in 1908 and I'm guessing the book is circa 1910.
A few years ago I scanned into my computer several of the views. Like a lot of early photographs the skies are almost non existent. I took out the castles, bridges, etc and made up my own skies in KPT 6.
The finished results are A3 in size.
My question is - is the copyright still valid on the book or am I free to do whatever I want with them?
By the way the company who photographed and published the book is still in existence. Also I'm from Scotland but I'm curious as to how the book would stand regarding copyright throughout the world.
Are actions created using the new "allow tool recording" option in PSCS6 backward compatible to previous versions? IOW, would an action created under CS6 using this option play correctly in CS4 or CS5 versions?
I choose the vertical type tool or the vertical type on a path tool or the vertical area type tool...and all I get are letters that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise that go down in a vertical line. The effect is the same as if I took one of these lines that I am typeing here and rotated the entire line 90 degrees clockwise. That is not the effect I want. I am tying to get vertical letters stacked on top of one another in a line going vertical. I watched videos and they simply pick the tool and it functions this way, but when I pick the same tool I do not get this vertical orientation of the individual letters, but the 90 degree rotated letter.Â
I have been working in In-design for my classes and everything is working fine. But recently I needed to do some work in Illustrator but when I opened the program up, some of my tools seems to be slightly bugged or something. Â The type tool will not make the anchor where I initially click. It creates the anchor around the center point of the type box. This is really annoying because if you have a specific grid, it will not line up to it. I have never adjusted this I don't think because now I have no clue on how to fix it! Â Also, my pen tool seems to be messed up. I first create the starting point, but then when I make the second point and try to drag out the node arms to make a curve, it only has one arm! Thus, the curve never is created, so I can't draw with the pen tool, therefore I fail my classes..
i used the word tool to type.. and then i saved my design in .psd format. Sometimes when i open that .psd file, i couldn't edit the word that i typed. y is that so? anywhere i go wrong?
I am working on a project which need a 200 points Type tool but when I hoppen the rol down arrow the maximum I have is 72pt. Is there a way to add points in this roll down arrow?
I hit 'F' twice to go 'Fullscreen'... then I hit 'Tab' to clear the palettes. From this point I decide to edit some text and hit the 'T' key to bring up the type tool..... with me so far?
I edit the text.... and then what??... how do I 'release' the type tool and allow others to be chosen?
there's no palettes to click because I've cleared them all.... All I have is the keyboard to tap on.
Currently I'm 'releasing' the type tool, by hitting 'Escape' ..... but then I lose all the new text I've produced....
I am having a very weird thing going on in Photoshop CS. Every time I turn on the type tool (horizontal) and try to use it, it won't type any letters, and instead when I strike the letter keys on my keyboard, it activates other tools based on their keyboard shortcut letters (such as L for lasso). I have tried resetting system defaults and still have this problem.
Another weird thing that happens is that when I try to type letters, the canvas turns pink, and the letters turn white (this might be connected to the keyboard shortcut for flood fill)
When I click on the "type tool" it won't type because the little square icon at the top will not maintain a color. It keeps turning into a little question mark even after I choose the color type I want. What is the matter with it? The problem is with Photoshop CS5.
I am using HP Pavilion g series, Vista window.Using photoshop CS3. Biggest problem i facing that when i type something and i want to go to next line and i press button ENTER. It wont go to next line That means i couldnt write in kind of paragraph. For each line i have to set new layer.
I have cs6 cloud software on windows 7 64 bit. I've been using photoshop without any trouble, but since I downloaded illustrator & indesign, I can't use the type tool in photoshop - i get a message saying that something is preventing the type tool from initialising... so why would this happen and how can I fix it, I need to be able to use type.
