View 3 RepliesI have cs6 cloud software on windows 7 64 bit. I've been using photoshop without any trouble, but since I downloaded illustrator & indesign, I can't use the type tool in photoshop - i get a message saying that something is preventing the type tool from initialising... so why would this happen and how can I fix it, I need to be able to use type.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe progress bar makes it about 1/10th of the way and then CC just hangs.

Fortunately, I still have CS6 and it works just fine and dandy, type tool and all. This is all rather frustrating though, since I'm paying for CC and this didn't use to happen. As far as I can tell, CC and all my Adobe CC apps are up to date.
Whenever I try to start After Effects CC, it gets stuck on "Initializing type engine". This didn't happen on After Effects CS6, and I'm wondering what can be done to fix this. I have about 1,000 extra fonts that don't come with Windows, and if I get rid of them it works just fine. The problem is, without the extra fonts After Effects is pretty much useless to me, and CS6 worked just fine with 7,000+ fonts, so this shouldn't be a problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Type Tool does not select type by double clicking or click and drag. (Windows CS 5 V15.1). This is what I have tried so far and the problem still exists.

Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it.
Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it.
Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
Working on a poster in Illustrator. Have added area type, using the type tool. Now I'd like to increase the size of one line. I can't select or edit any of the type with the type tool. I moved the type to a new layer, saved, closed Illustrator, restarted my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). Looked in preferences, in case there's an issue there. No luck.
Â
By the way, I also don't see handles when in the selection tool any more. Don't know if that's related.
the type tool won't let me insert any type whatsoever in JPG or PSD files. I click the type tool and then click somewhere on the image and all it gives me is a dot but no flashing cursor. As I said, resetting my prefs/settings while starting up Photoshop did not help. Another weird thing it does is that when I go to Canvas Size for a medium sized image, it says that the width is 588 inches and the height is 288 inches.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI choose the vertical type tool or the vertical type on a path tool or the vertical area type tool...and all I get are letters that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise that go down in a vertical line. The effect is the same as if I took one of these lines that I am typeing here and rotated the entire line 90 degrees clockwise. That is not the effect I want. I am tying to get vertical letters stacked on top of one another in a line going vertical. I watched videos and they simply pick the tool and it functions this way, but when I pick the same tool I do not get this vertical orientation of the individual letters, but the 90 degree rotated letter.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been working in In-design for my classes and everything is working fine. But recently I needed to do some work in Illustrator but when I opened the program up, some of my tools seems to be slightly bugged or something.

The type tool will not make the anchor where I initially click. It creates the anchor around the center point of the type box. This is really annoying because if you have a specific grid, it will not line up to it. I have never adjusted this I don't think because now I have no clue on how to fix it!

Also, my pen tool seems to be messed up. I first create the starting point, but then when I make the second point and try to drag out the node arms to make a curve, it only has one arm! Thus, the curve never is created, so I can't draw with the pen tool, therefore I fail my classes..
i used the word tool to type.. and then i saved my design in .psd format. Sometimes when i open that .psd file, i couldn't edit the word that i typed. y is that so? anywhere i go wrong?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI hit 'F' twice to go 'Fullscreen'... then I hit 'Tab' to clear the palettes. From this point I decide to edit some text and hit the 'T' key to bring up the type tool..... with me so far?
I edit the text.... and then what??... how do I 'release' the type tool and allow others to be chosen?
there's no palettes to click because I've cleared them all.... All I have is the keyboard to tap on.
Currently I'm 'releasing' the type tool, by hitting 'Escape' ..... but then I lose all the new text I've produced....
I'm trying to type text and all I get is underlines with a blinking cursor...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a very weird thing going on in Photoshop CS. Every time I turn on the type tool (horizontal) and try to use it, it won't type any letters, and instead when I strike the letter keys on my keyboard, it activates other tools based on their keyboard shortcut letters (such as L for lasso). I have tried resetting system defaults and still have this problem.
Another weird thing that happens is that when I try to type letters, the canvas turns pink, and the letters turn white (this might be connected to the keyboard shortcut for flood fill)
I am trying to make a watermark:
© date and my name on the next line. I manage to do the 1st line ok, but pressing 'return' to do the second line - does nothing - or rather my cursor vanishes and the text box boundary is enormous.
I have CS3 and am on a Mac.
I have the Cs5 Master Suite and just installed my new Wacom Intuos3 tablet. I'm running on a Windows 7. Before installing Photoshop never had a problem starting up - now it crashes without fail every time. I tried uninstalling the Wacom, rebooting, running a virus check, blah blah blah, but nothing works. Photoshop crashes every time, whether or not the tablet is plugged in or installed now.

I have downloaded the trial version of CS4. When installing the download stops at the Initializing stage with Checking System Profile bar stuck at 90%.
The PC has CS3 and Lightroom installed and both run well. The PC has 500 GB HD and 3 GB of ram I have tried to install with and without the virus checker switched on. I have tried also as Administrator, I have run both Win install clean up and the CS4 Clean Script.
I cannot use the type tool in Photoshop CC it goes black. Why?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the "type tool" it won't type because the little square icon at the top will not maintain a color. It keeps turning into a little question mark even after I choose the color type I want. What is the matter with it? The problem is with Photoshop CS5.

what are the leading, baseline, tracking and kerning supposed to be set at for normal display.
Normally hitting the enter key (not the one on the number pad) while using the type tool would cause a line break. On my notebook it this doesn't happen. It basically does what it would do if you were to hit the enter key on the number pad on a regular desktop pc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have photoshop 5.5 and all of suddent the Type Tool stopped working. The font size is so small (I can only see a DOT where the insertion key is) regardless the font size. I even put font size to 200 points. It still gives me a little dot in the input box where I can type the text.
My photoshop was working for a while. Now it started acting weird.
Do I need to reinstall Photoshop or I need a new computer?
I am running PII 400 with 128 Ram. Windows XP Pro.
