View 2 RepliesI have an action set for text and I want to fiddle with a few of the actions, change the feathering and so on, without having to recreate the action. It's not an image adjustment like "levels" or "contrast", the action layer is called "make text" and contains a series of steps that it won't play individually. Is this possible?Photoshop CS4
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhere are the user created actions saved to? It seems that when my computer is restarted that my actions that I've created in CS2 dissapear. In an attempt to fix this (aside from saving my actions) I'd like to see why the IT folks are dumping that folder, or keeping PS from saving the actions I've created.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAre actions created using the new "allow tool recording" option in PSCS6 backward compatible to previous versions? IOW, would an action created under CS6 using this option play correctly in CS4 or CS5 versions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS5 I created a long action list which include lots of Shapes. I saved these action sets and loaded them into CS6. and they kept failing saying they couldn't find layer "Shape 1" "Shape 2" etc . this is because in CS6 the layers are now called "Rectangle 1" "Elipse 1" etc .  How can I get this to revert back to the "Shape 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc".

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow does one save actions? The 'save' option is greyed out in the actions dropdown panel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the "Optimize to file size" feature in the Save For Web Panel constantly. I am planning on doing a large amount of conversions in the near future (by which I mean resaving .jpegs at a certain dimension and resolution. As far as the dimension and resolution go, there is no difficulty creating an action to do that. But the icing on the cake for me is have them all processed through Save for Web at a certain file size (for the sake of argument, say 500K). Yes, I know that the resulting images will vary in quality (obviously) because the end result will very much depend on their file size to begin with but that is not an issue for me for my purposes.
Â
Save for Web has various presets and allows you to save presets; however, it does not allow you to save the Optimize to file size as a preset. When I try to record an action, and go to the Save for Web, use the Optimize etcetera, the action created lists the quality of the image I process to record the action. So, for example, if my image is less than 500K, the quality recorded in the action is 100. If my image exceeds 500K, the quality might be 86 and that is what the action records. For whatever reason, what is recorded is the quality rather than the 500K. I am not sure if this is being written clearly enough to explain. I want every image to end up being 500K regardless of what the final quality is (quality being the difference between the original image and the image as saved by Save for Web). But actions are saving the attribute of quality rather than file size.Â
to create actions in PS.
Unfortunately, when I've created an action on my desktop computer, the action lasts for the session only and is not there when I restart PS. I've done this several times, and the result is always the same. The actions remain for the session and work fine, but disappear after a restart.
This doesn't happen on my backup copy on a laptop, but I do my PS work on a desktop and it's a problem.
I recently upgraded from cs3 to cs5. I had to reinstall my 3rd party actions into cs5. They will not save into the actions palette. Everytime I restart cs5 I have to reinstall the actions and this gets tiresome. NEVER had this problem with cs3.Â
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded quite a few actions from Adobe exchange. When I did, I got the choice to either put them in a folder or open them in CS3. Many I just clicked to open in CS3. It was more time efficient. However, there are many of them, and I was looking specifically for a cartoon effect (which I don't use very often--special project) However, while I was looking, I found many other interesting actions. Anyway, I would like to clean up the actions area and bring up only the ones I use all the time. Generally I hit clear actions or reset actions and then I bring back in the ones I want. I'm afraid to do this because these actions are not listed in the actions folder. What will happen to them? Will they go away? There are quite a few of them, and I don't want to have to redownload them. Since they are not listed in the actions folder, how can I get them listed and make sure that I can access them again?
I have tried creating a set to move them into. That didn't work. I tried highlighting all of them to put in a set. That didn't work. If they are selected, the flyout menu save actions in grayed out. How do I get them into the action folder?
I have an action that I created that reduces color saturation in JPEGS. I want to run this action with a batch, but every time I do, the batch pauses with the JPEG Options dialog (where you choose image quality).
Is there a way to automate that step of the process? Because I just want to save it on the highest quality setting for each picture.
I have over 1000 pictures to run this batch on, and I'm hoping there's a way to automate the JPEG options dialog box.
I'm wanting to know how to fix this issue? Each time I create actions it has the "Save Actions" selection grayed out. So every time photoshop decides to have a fit and kill on itself all my actions are wiped out then I have to recreate them, rinse and repeat.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot for the life of me figure out how to save in a specific folder desitnations when using Actions and Saving For Web with CS6 PS for Windows. It ALWAYS defaults to last folder used. I am not Batch Processing, just using Actions on one image at a time. I have 3 of these actions.
Action one is for "Thumbnail" folder, Action two is for "Full" folder, and Action three is for "Large" folder. All these actions are doing is saving for web into these folders (path displays correctly in Action script). HOWEVER after I successfully use Action one and save into the Thumbnail folder and move on to Action 2, it wants to save back into Thumbnail AND NOT into Full folder. In short I now have 3 actions saving to the same folder even though my recording designated 3 different locations.
how to make an action that can export individual layers within a PS document and rename each layers in the process.
Â
I have set up a 320 x 180px canvas and have 'Placed' in about 20 images that all need to be exported with the Save for Web option.
Problem is, when I set the action to Save for Web and choose the destination, Photoshop names my newly exported image as the document's title (for example, 320x180_Canvas.jpg). But as soon as I try to make it move on to the next layer, it will automatically replace the first exported image with the new one, renaming it the same way, and so on and so on for the next 2 layers...
So essentially, I can only export one layer at a time - unless I make an action to Save for Web for individual documents and not layers (so instead of having one document with 20 layers, I have 20 documents with one layer)...
Â
I must be missing a crucial point here.
I did that tutorial but didnt' create a "layer set" in the beginning. how do you save this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've sliced an image for publishing to the web and saved it as an HTML file using the Save for Web command (PSC3). It is my understanding that PS creates the images and pages according to the options set in the Save for Web dialog, however, when viewed, the page shows place holders for the slices, but only red X's for the images. The resulting HTML code references a number of GIF files located in an "images" folder, but I cannot find the location of that folder. Search does not show a folder, nor the referenced file names.
Am I mis-understanding the HTML option in the Save for Web process? If not, where did PS put the images it supposedly created from the slices?
When I try to use my brushes with actions in Photoshop, such as Save the Dress, Ying-Yang, or Foundation, they won't work. I've tried resetting the brushes, changing the opacity, restarting the program, and unlocking the layers. It was working perfectly, but suddenly just stopped. When I click on the image, it doesn't do anything. There is also a small black box next to the action the I am using in the history box. When my brushes were working, that box would show in white where I used the brushes on my pictures, but now it doesn't register anything that I try to do.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter using Abobe Illustrator CS2 at work for years, I suddenly can't open old drawings and if I start a new one even if it is small, when I close it can't save do to not enough memory. There is plenty of RAM and room on hard drive. Already have restored from an older date. Even before we (IT guys and I) did the restore we un-installed they re-installed Adobe from disk, and we still have the same problem. This is a primary program used for about 90% of the work I do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I save a file in CS5 that has been created by a newer version?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator to creat shapes that can be exported as DXF files then taken into a program used in CNC plasma cutting of metal art. I'm able to do this with art work drawn with the pencil tool and blob brush. I also want to do this with the brush tools creating florishes and other shapes. I've been able to take a paint brush drawn line with width, rasterized it, and then image traced it to creat a line shape with handles which allow it to be adjusted however I've not been able to get rid of the selection box, it seems to need to be selected in order to work on the shape, and the drawn lines created when I image traced it seem to be double lines. Also I can't get rid of the box that is drawn when I select the lines so I can use the handles to manipulate the shape. Most important I've not be able to export shapes draw this way as a DXF file.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI like to put my actions somewhere special on my hardrive, not in apps folder.
Now, in past, when I saved actions CS2 would "remember" where this folder was, making real easy to save.
Lately, it keep defaulting to save as in the app folder-- even though I did navigate to my special area on last save as.
I am facing problem while using Save / Save As / Save for web options in my Photoshop. On clicking Save / Save As commands, my photoshop gets closed abruptly and I am losing all data. If I choose Save for Web option, the file Save dialog box appears and when I click on the 'Save' button, the application gets closed abruptly.

It was working fine yesterday. My version is bundled in the Technical Communicator suite 3.5 and I faced some problems with Adobe Acrobat, for which my IT team took support from Adobe and got it resolved just two days ago. (Case ID - 184809966)
I use autocad architecture 2013 and it works just fine until the save turns to qsave whenever i want to save a drawing by save, save as and ctrl+s it works as qsave..how can I turn it back to SAVE ?
