Illustrator :: Where Does CS6 Save Custom Created Patterns
Nov 10, 2012The CS6 pattern maker is a welcome feature. Only problem is, I save a pattern I create and do not have the least idea where illustrator conceals it.

View 2 RepliesI would like to create seamless greyscale patterns in AI CS6 by using typical Vector-Tools, Gradients and Transparency.Output however needs to be 16Bit/Channel RGB - 256 greys are clearly not enough on the Gradients, they would lead to nasty artifacts in the intended field of use explanation here.I realize that AI is 8bit and that internal Image-Conversion from Vector clearly was no option. The underlying question for me is - does AI also internally work with just with 256 shades of grey in its gradients too?Or was there theoretically a way to pass smoother Vectors over to PS which in contrast to AI can save 16 bit Gradients? All I tried thus far (importing AI though Clipboard as Shape-Layers/Smart-Objects) yielded unusable results for what I'm after.
View 18 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to save a custom artboard setup with a custom document profile in illustrator cs5? I do technical illustrations and our page size is odd (7.19 x 8.96. It the size that our Framemaker layout is set to.). I have a custom document profile that I use, but I use the grids all the time so that my callouts are spaced out evenly around the art. I would like to have a way to set the artboard up so that the grid will align to the center of the artboard everytime I turn them on. Right now they always start from the top left and when I center art in the center of the page, the grid spacing isn't the same on each side of the art. I just want to be able to open my document profile, turn on my grids, have them start from the center, and I can get down to business. As it is now I have to go into my artboard settings and manually adjust the grid to the center. Small annoyance, but it still annoys me. I have tried to save it a few different ways, but nothing has worked. Maybe there just isn't a way.

There is plenty of RAM and room on hard drive. Already have restored from an older date. Even before we (IT guys and I) did the restore we un-installed they re-installed Adobe from disk, and we still have the same problem. This is a primary program used for about 90% of the work I do.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator to creat shapes that can be exported as DXF files then taken into a program used in CNC plasma cutting of metal art. I'm able to do this with art work drawn with the pencil tool and blob brush. I also want to do this with the brush tools creating florishes and other shapes. I've been able to take a paint brush drawn line with width, rasterized it, and then image traced it to creat a line shape with handles which allow it to be adjusted however I've not been able to get rid of the selection box, it seems to need to be selected in order to work on the shape, and the drawn lines created when I image traced it seem to be double lines. Also I can't get rid of the box that is drawn when I select the lines so I can use the handles to manipulate the shape. Most important I've not be able to export shapes draw this way as a DXF file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two, seemingly identical, installations of AutoCAD LT 2012 on two machines in our office. Both machines have the MEASUREMENT variable set to 1.
The acadltiso.pat file of both machines has been customized with the addition of two hatch patterns and both of these work just fine.
In addition, the support folders of both installation also have identical sets of custom hatch patterns. On one of these machines thumbnails for these are visible and all works entirely as expected. However, on the other machine, none of these custom hatch patterns appear at all. In fact I cannot even see the custom hatch pattern tab!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to load hatch files from StoneCAD. In the past I have been able to take hatch patterns from various sources and locate them in a file within AutoCAD LT, then use them without issue.
I have never touched a .pat file or written anything in notepad or word, just simply copied the .dxf files to a file on my computer and was able to use them through AutoCAD LT 2009. Recently I had to reload the software and I can't figure out where I would go to put these hatch files.
Where do I save custom hatch pattertns in autocad? What file? Support? Do they have to be saved one at a timeor can they be saved in a folder?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've not done custom hatch patterns in the past, but I'd like to create a custom hatch pattern using a block I have. Is there an easy way to do this?
Would like to make a 8" CMU (section) hatch pattern, as an example, to use in automated sections that I generate.
Pretty easy to see where I'm headed w/ this.
Any easy conversion tool or the ability to explode the block, select everything for a hatch pattern and click "OK".
Likely there isn't, but it never hurts to ask when starting out.
I have added my custom hatch patterns to the .pat file and they aren't showing up. Is there a certain step I am missing in order for this to work? Is there an easier way to load my custom hatches in CAD 2010 that I am not aware of?
View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently installed Acad R2010 and I need to install new custom hatches but don't know how.... I got working with Autocad since 1990; probably it was R2.0. This is the first time that I try to do it, so I don´t want to mess the whole thing misplacing my .pat files.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have beent trying to follow the instructions found at the URL below (second half of the video) in order to load custom patterns onto Elements 11. The video says I need to go to C:/ drive, then Users, then my folder, then AppData, then Adobe, then Photoshop Elements, Roaming, and Preset(s). However, the only program folder in the Adobe folder is for FlashPlayer. I have searched the entire computer, and while I can find the Photoshop Elements folder, it does not contain Roaming and/or Presets folders.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to build an installer to deploy some custom hatch patterns. Getting the hatch patterns onto disk is easy; however, I need to add this location as a support path (presumably via a registry entry) but the number of potential registry entries is huge given the combination of AutoCAD releases and verticals. The other option I had was to deploy the hatches to the same location as ACAD.PAT and search for this location during installation.
FYI - I plan to use Inno Setup but am not opposed to another installer.

Steps to recover the old profile settings and save the hatch patterns so they are available each time the application is opened?
I have created the Custom library of ISO bolts by adding the Material to existing ISO library using the Material Guide.
The goal is to make bolts black and anodized to be more specific with purchase orders from very beginning.
After the adding the material everything is working good except the auto drop. There is a wide Table pop ups with a lot of unnecessary info.
Is it possible to choose the columns to represent there? I mean leave just Material or Part Number ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've sliced an image for publishing to the web and saved it as an HTML file using the Save for Web command (PSC3). It is my understanding that PS creates the images and pages according to the options set in the Save for Web dialog, however, when viewed, the page shows place holders for the slices, but only red X's for the images. The resulting HTML code references a number of GIF files located in an "images" folder, but I cannot find the location of that folder. Search does not show a folder, nor the referenced file names.
Am I mis-understanding the HTML option in the Save for Web process? If not, where did PS put the images it supposedly created from the slices?
