Photoshop :: How To Save Actions From Exchange Going
Feb 25, 2009
I downloaded quite a few actions from Adobe exchange. When I did, I got the choice to either put them in a folder or open them in CS3. Many I just clicked to open in CS3. It was more time efficient. However, there are many of them, and I was looking specifically for a cartoon effect (which I don't use very often--special project) However, while I was looking, I found many other interesting actions. Anyway, I would like to clean up the actions area and bring up only the ones I use all the time. Generally I hit clear actions or reset actions and then I bring back in the ones I want. I'm afraid to do this because these actions are not listed in the actions folder. What will happen to them? Will they go away? There are quite a few of them, and I don't want to have to redownload them. Since they are not listed in the actions folder, how can I get them listed and make sure that I can access them again?
I have tried creating a set to move them into. That didn't work. I tried highlighting all of them to put in a set. That didn't work. If they are selected, the flyout menu save actions in grayed out. How do I get them into the action folder?
I use the "Optimize to file size" feature in the Save For Web Panel constantly. I am planning on doing a large amount of conversions in the near future (by which I mean resaving .jpegs at a certain dimension and resolution. As far as the dimension and resolution go, there is no difficulty creating an action to do that. But the icing on the cake for me is have them all processed through Save for Web at a certain file size (for the sake of argument, say 500K). Yes, I know that the resulting images will vary in quality (obviously) because the end result will very much depend on their file size to begin with but that is not an issue for me for my purposes. Â Save for Web has various presets and allows you to save presets; however, it does not allow you to save the Optimize to file size as a preset. When I try to record an action, and go to the Save for Web, use the Optimize etcetera, the action created lists the quality of the image I process to record the action. So, for example, if my image is less than 500K, the quality recorded in the action is 100. If my image exceeds 500K, the quality might be 86 and that is what the action records. For whatever reason, what is recorded is the quality rather than the 500K. I am not sure if this is being written clearly enough to explain. I want every image to end up being 500K regardless of what the final quality is (quality being the difference between the original image and the image as saved by Save for Web). But actions are saving the attribute of quality rather than file size.Â
Unfortunately, when I've created an action on my desktop computer, the action lasts for the session only and is not there when I restart PS. I've done this several times, and the result is always the same. The actions remain for the session and work fine, but disappear after a restart.
This doesn't happen on my backup copy on a laptop, but I do my PS work on a desktop and it's a problem.
What is the correct way to save photoshop actions that I have created? I currently save them by selecting the folder and then 'Save Actions' from the dropdown.
I recently upgraded from cs3 to cs5. I had to reinstall my 3rd party actions into cs5. They will not save into the actions palette. Everytime I restart cs5 I have to reinstall the actions and this gets tiresome. NEVER had this problem with cs3.Â
I have an action that I created that reduces color saturation in JPEGS. I want to run this action with a batch, but every time I do, the batch pauses with the JPEG Options dialog (where you choose image quality).
Is there a way to automate that step of the process? Because I just want to save it on the highest quality setting for each picture.
I have over 1000 pictures to run this batch on, and I'm hoping there's a way to automate the JPEG options dialog box.
I'm wanting to know how to fix this issue? Each time I create actions it has the "Save Actions" selection grayed out. So every time photoshop decides to have a fit and kill on itself all my actions are wiped out then I have to recreate them, rinse and repeat.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to save in a specific folder desitnations when using Actions and Saving For Web with CS6 PS for Windows. It ALWAYS defaults to last folder used. I am not Batch Processing, just using Actions on one image at a time. I have 3 of these actions.
Action one is for "Thumbnail" folder, Action two is for "Full" folder, and Action three is for "Large" folder. All these actions are doing is saving for web into these folders (path displays correctly in Action script). HOWEVER after I successfully use Action one and save into the Thumbnail folder and move on to Action 2, it wants to save back into Thumbnail AND NOT into Full folder. In short I now have 3 actions saving to the same folder even though my recording designated 3 different locations.
how to make an action that can export individual layers within a PS document and rename each layers in the process. Â I have set up a 320 x 180px canvas and have 'Placed' in about 20 images that all need to be exported with the Save for Web option.
Problem is, when I set the action to Save for Web and choose the destination, Photoshop names my newly exported image as the document's title (for example, 320x180_Canvas.jpg). But as soon as I try to make it move on to the next layer, it will automatically replace the first exported image with the new one, renaming it the same way, and so on and so on for the next 2 layers...
So essentially, I can only export one layer at a time - unless I make an action to Save for Web for individual documents and not layers (so instead of having one document with 20 layers, I have 20 documents with one layer)... Â I must be missing a crucial point here.
When I try to use my brushes with actions in Photoshop, such as Save the Dress, Ying-Yang, or Foundation, they won't work. I've tried resetting the brushes, changing the opacity, restarting the program, and unlocking the layers. It was working perfectly, but suddenly just stopped. When I click on the image, it doesn't do anything. There is also a small black box next to the action the I am using in the history box. When my brushes were working, that box would show in white where I used the brushes on my pictures, but now it doesn't register anything that I try to do.Â
How do I record a series of actions that I can then save it as a kind of script or macro that I can run then in another work session on an object? Is this possible?
I'm having problems with the Exchange Extension in PS CC. When I activate the extension and attempt to sign in I get, "Sorry we are unable to log you in. Please try again later." There is, however, no "later." I've tried 3 or 4 times over a 2-week period, always with the same result.
I checked exchange in PS CC and could not find either the russell brown watercolor or oil-paint plugins... I watched the youtube video and it showed them there when he was doing a tutorial, but when I went to look all I found of his was paper textures.Â
Also, I went to his "Dr. Brown" web site and I found them there, and I downloaed them to my mac, but the installer does not install them.Â
I have Windows 7 64 bit and PSE 10. I want to upgrade to PSE 11 using the exchange program. It describes it on website but no employee ever heard of it? I do have all the requirements but following through with the purchase
I installed CC right now, with the "Exchange Panel" right away from the new Cloud installation tool, but inside PS CC the Exchange Panel says: Â "Update Now The Adobe Exchange update is now available...
...Please launch the Creative Cloud app and click the Update button for Photoshop CC" Â And I can't do an update because I installed right away...Cloud app says - everything is updated.
You will need to have CS4 for some of these, and you need to make sure your Extension Manager is up to date. If you aren't familiar with EM, it's a way of managing scripts and other extensions without the copy/paste into folders. You can turn extensions on and off without uninstalling, all from one interface.
Coming soon will be the Configurator which allows similar functionality within Photoshop, but is aimed more at user-interface enhancements.
I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.
I am using 2013 inventor and revit. I am trying to use this BIM exchange in inventor and I am try to by creating a simple part/family with a couple of different sizes in a table. Everything looks good in inventor as far as the table having different size and when I activate one it changes the part. When I export I am going to tools, BIM exchange, hitting export and away she goes. There is only one export button and everything is pretty simple to understand. So inventor as far as I know, is good.
Now when I bring it into revit as the ASDK format from export with BIM exchange as I am getting is the model with whatever view happens to be active. I am not getting the table nor the parameters I set up for manually changing the family.
I have done some research and noticed that in previous verisons you needed to export the table in inventor after that model, but I am not seeing that option anywhere.Â
So my question is, am I missing something and you can no longer export parametric parts from inventor to revit, or is there another set I am missing either in the inventor setup or the import into revit?Â
I'm running several flavors of AutoCAD.I installed some add-ins from the Exchange site into vanilla AutoCAD.Now they are showing up in Map, but each on it's own individual Add-Ins tab.I now have 7 Add-Ins and 1 Plug-Ins tabs.
1 - I didn't think the add-ins would work in anything but vanilla AutoCAD (or is it you just can't access them through Exchange?).
2 - is there a way to get them all on one tab (I tried in the CUI but didn't get it to work)?
I got some information from my fried like PDF (Portable Document Format) files are not dependent on operating system. For document exchange PDF files are used.
I am having problems in opening a drawing exchange file sent to me by a friend who is using TurboCad V1.1 In trying to open the file using AutoCad 2000 I am getting the following error message "Invalid or incompatible DXF input - Drawing discarded".
I thought that the whole point of a dxf file was that it could be universally recognized from one system to another.
AutoCad 2012 can extract pre-selected object attribute data to a database. After editing and manipulating that data in 2012’s native database tool, I want to be able to return the modified data to the objects it originally came from. However, the 2012 database tool returns data to a disassociated label rather than to the source objects.
My application for this functionality is to be able to DI-directionally edit low voltage wiring information like wire numbers, device source, device destination and sheet IDs that are assigned to blocks as visible and hidden attributes.
How to do this in 2012 or with an externally loaded routine? I have tried JTB World’s ACAD-db external process without success.
Autodesck Exchange opens when we launch AutoCad. When any page displays with videos, there is a message that Flash is not installed. None of the videos play. Flash is installed and we re-installed it.
