AutoCAD Inventor :: BIM Exchange
Oct 23, 2012I am using 2013 inventor and revit. I am trying to use this BIM exchange in inventor and I am try to by creating a simple part/family with a couple of different sizes in a table. Everything looks good in inventor as far as the table having different size and when I activate one it changes the part. When I export I am going to tools, BIM exchange, hitting export and away she goes. There is only one export button and everything is pretty simple to understand. So inventor as far as I know, is good.
Now when I bring it into revit as the ASDK format from export with BIM exchange as I am getting is the model with whatever view happens to be active. I am not getting the table nor the parameters I set up for manually changing the family.
I have done some research and noticed that in previous verisons you needed to export the table in inventor after that model, but I am not seeing that option anywhere.
So my question is, am I missing something and you can no longer export parametric parts from inventor to revit, or is there another set I am missing either in the inventor setup or the import into revit?

Sep 24, 2013Is there a way to access AEC object (AEC_WALL etc.) properties from RealDWG? I am able to get the class name AecDbWall. And even the extents of the entity.There are some Aec*.dll files in the RealDWG folder but I am not sure what to use to get the properties of Wall,window.I'm using visual C++. I have installed the object enablers of Architecture Structure Drawing, MEP, and also of Civil.

Mar 7, 2013Recently I upgraded to 2013 and I been having some issues with my survey DB, first of all I created a base data shortcuts project template folder with all my folders and a default Survey DB.
once I create my project, and import points to the default DB, I have no access to the Figure Properties. Is this feature, that worked in 11 & 12 now broken in 13? I have gone into the setting and copied a new files to the folder several times, to no avail, and there are no other versions of C3D on this machine.
So now that I have my points in the drawing, I go to translate them to my survey, generally I will utilize line in the drawing between field data, and platted data to translate and rotate to the platted lot or lots and the work from there on any calcs or changes. However, when my OSNAP toolbar is docked and locked and I go to select a point line the midpoint, I have no access to the OSNAPS. This also, worked in 11 & 12, but seems broken in 13.
AutoCad :: DWG File Properties To Excel Or Access To Create Drawing List / Register
Jun 3, 2011I am looking for a way to use the .dwg file properties of a drawing to generate an updateable drawing list/register. One that will update automatically as the file properties are updated. I have already created a title block that uses text fields to display custom properties of the file on my title block, such as the job no., drawing no. etc.
I have searched the web for answers, came across this site, joined and searched through it... There are a number of threads that 'sorta' deal with my needs but alway tend to digress more towards the "poster's" needs and away from mine. I noticed that they all talk about Lisp Routines and I have no knowledge of using them. Is that the only way to go or can I use another route? Another one was the Sheet Set Manager but I don't think that this is exactly what I am looking for...

So I want to know what other Inventor and Vault users are doing to get model properties into Inventor drawings: Using model properties in the title block and nothing to extract in Vault or Copy model properties so Vault has data to extract.
I want to know what the best in class practice is? What are others doing? I do not want to use iLogic I was out of the box Inventor functionality.

Mar 12, 2012I'm running several flavors of AutoCAD.I installed some add-ins from the Exchange site into vanilla AutoCAD.Now they are showing up in Map, but each on it's own individual Add-Ins tab.I now have 7 Add-Ins and 1 Plug-Ins tabs.
1 - I didn't think the add-ins would work in anything but vanilla AutoCAD (or is it you just can't access them through Exchange?).
2 - is there a way to get them all on one tab (I tried in the CUI but didn't get it to work)?

Dec 27, 2011AutoCad 2012 can extract pre-selected object attribute data to a database. After editing and manipulating that data in 2012’s native database tool, I want to be able to return the modified data to the objects it originally came from. However, the 2012 database tool returns data to a disassociated label rather than to the source objects.
My application for this functionality is to be able to DI-directionally edit low voltage wiring information like wire numbers, device source, device destination and sheet IDs that are assigned to blocks as visible and hidden attributes.
How to do this in 2012 or with an externally loaded routine? I have tried JTB World’s ACAD-db external process without success.

AutoCAD 2013 installed as expected but I can not run the Flash based introduction movies.
I am a new to AutoCAD, have never used to program before and would like to switching the "preferences" (which I can't find) to a better browser like Google Chrome.
Suggestion for Autodesk: Please dump IE in favor or propper browsers. IE has never and will never work properly.
In conclusion: How can I get the Flash videos to work. Where do I register the software?
Because of the above issues, I've installed AutoCAD 2013 on my iMac and everything is running as expected. I am more of a Linux/OS X user and have limited experience with Microsoft products.
AutoCAD Inventor :: IProperty Access With C#
Aug 10, 2012I am trying to write a small standalone app in C# that I can run when I have an assembly document open. I want the app to iterate through all the parts in the assembly and set the iproperties. I am having some trouble accessing the iproperties however.
I want (for example) to set the "TITLE" in the "DOCUMENT SUMMARY INFORMATION" to be a concatenation of the part number and the description separated by a " - ".how to access these properties.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Using VBA To Access Attributes
Oct 7, 2011My company has an excel program that extracts data from AutoCAD title blocks, processes it, turns it into printable spradsheet BOM's, and uploads the data to our ERP software. We're currently starting a transition form AutoCAD to Inventor. I've been asked to figure out how to make our excel program work with Inventor.
I'm hoping (but not expecting) to be able to change some lines around in the section that deals with extracting data and get it to work that way. I'm pretty sure of what needs to change, but I'm not so sure what it needs to change to. Does anyone know of any resources that someone who just started programming a couple weeks ago (me) could look at to learn more about how Inventor interfaces with VBA?
The other possible route I see is to export drawings from Inventor into AutoCAD.
The excel program reads block attributes. I've read that Inventor's version of attributes is prompted entry text, however, when I export Inventor drawings with prompted entry text lines that match the attribute lines from the old AutoCAD block they come in different. They're not editable inside of AutoCAD and the excel program doesn't see them. I haven't the slightest idea what's happening here.
A third way would be to use Inventor's iProperties, but there again, I don't know where to find information for the coding side.

Nov 21, 2013For a while now whenever I open a new assembly the default is place from content centre, I use the drop-down and select place.
Today I needed place from content centre and it just doesn't come up.
It is loaded/automatic in the addins.
If I open my projects, in the bottom right corner where I would usually click to acess my installed libraries, I click but it does nothing!
I also noticed studio and BIM are greyed out, but I have started to play with Showcase so not really a problem. I need to set up a read/write library soon, so it's going to be a problem.

Nov 20, 2013I was put in charge of modifying The commun library of our content center. Later today, i found out that one of our draftmen played around our library and modifying some of the preset that i setup.
My question is: What can be done to limit access (Putting it at Read-only) to certain library for certain users without limiting my own access?
Also, I'm pretty sure its not possible but ill ask anyway, is it possible to know who modify those library and when?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Access CenterMarks In Specified View
Mar 27, 2013I have a model with two Workpoints and have to automatically create a dimension for these workpoints in a drawing.
The drawing has two views, a basic view and a section view.
The dimension of the workpoints has to be in the section view.
When doing this by hand, I would select the section view in the model browser, select the view's model, and then select the models centermarks and make them visible in only this view. After this I can select the CenterMarks for the dimension command.
When I look at the API, the workPoints are represented inside the drawing as CenterMarks, but the CenterMarks are children of the sheet and not children of a view !
And there are only two CenterMarks on the sheet, when I manually can select four (two in each of the views).
How can I programmatically access the centerMarks in a specified view ?

Oct 13, 2011I am trying to use the iProperties.Value("part1", "Summary", "iProperty") function to get the filename or complete filepath of a component within a subassembly. I know that these iProperties exist because I can insert them onto a drawing, and I see them in the general tab of the iProperty window.
However, when I try something like:
filename = iProperties.Value("part1", "General", "Filename")
I get an error message indicating that the General tab can't be found. How might I go about getting this filename iProperty, or is there an easier way?
