I changed the mode to Classic but I still don't see an option for unrestrained crop. I'm using Photoshop CS6.

I am having difficulty with the new cropping tool in CS6... It is said to be a huge leap forward, however, I am finding it to be a big step backward.
The Issue?
In all of my previous versions of Photoshop I have been able to go to the crop tool, set the size that I wanted the photo to be after cropping and that would be the size I get. This is something that I can no longer do in CS6... Or if I can it is not as simple. As a professional Photographer that takes anywhere from 500 to 900 photos per sporting event that I do, I need to be able to quickly go in and crop my photos to the size I want them to be and away I go.
How to continue this feature in the new Photoshop I will glad take it... but as of right now, I do not have the time to sit there and fiddle with the crop tool until the images is the size that I need it to be.
Is it too much to ask to be able to say I want a Photo cropped to 8x12 and actually get that?! For right now I will be going back to using my CS5 Photoshop so I can actually get my photos done.

Ok, I understand that the kids at Adobe would like to change things around in "upgrade versions" of Photoshop. However for working photographers and professionals that crop A LOT of images in the course of their work, the new cropping tool is a DISASTER! A few may like the new tool... however, there are many that don't.
[URL]...
To the point, here's how to fix the problem. Adobe, you have the CS5 PS cropping tool code... please put that code EXACTLY as it is in CS5 into the "Classic" option for CS6 PS. This way, those who WORK with Photoshop and PAY to use the software can get their work done using the excellent crop tool as was in CS5 (which I have downgraded to so I can get work done) and those who are giddy about the new crop tool can play to their hearts content.
Adobe, you are upsetting a lot of paying clients with your new crop tool and the "faux" classic tool option. You might want to address this issue soon!

Is it possible to get the same cropping tool in ACR, which already exists in LR4 and PS CS6?
When Photoshop CS6 was released the crop tool within Photoshop itself was updated with a new interface, similar to that in Lightroom. Why did Adobe not also update the crop tool in ACR, Adobe Camera Raw? As it is an essential part of Photoshop CS6?
Basically, why does ACR 7 still have the old crop tool interface, while the Lightroom and Photoshop products both are having the new crop tool interface?

The cropping tool no longer works simply and efficiently. Instead of just drawing a rectangle around what I want to keep, it sort of floats vertically for a distance, then stops. There is also a grid of six squares, which I don't need.

I have installed CS PS 6 on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer. When I go to ACR through Bridge and try to crop an image by clicking on the crop tool icon, the drop down menu for the cropping tool is VERY sporadic. It will sometimes show me the different cropping ratios, but most of the time, there is no drop down menu, or it is VERY SLOW to respond. It does this with my mouse and also with my Wacom Intuos 4. All other features seem to be working normally.
I have found that if I press "C" for crop and right-click on an image, the drop-down menu does appear, but this has never happend to me on any other PS.

With the new features added to the Crop tool I've noticed when you clip and image the remaining pixels "hidden" by the crop still are affected by layer effects. I've cropped an image, clipped it, removed the background and when I apply a drop shadow to the remaining pixels, the edge of my photo has a shadow. Other than clipping first, then cropping away, Is the best solution to set the crop tool to delete cropped pixels?

In Photoshop CS6, the moment you select the Crop Tool, a "cropping bounding box" appears instantly over the image. This didn't happen in CS5. In CS5 I would be able to click and start dragging the Crop Tool 'outside' the image and then drag into it so that my "cropping bounding box" (don't know what to call it) would snap to the edges of the image.
In CS6, since this box is automatically there already over the entire image, clicking outside the image invokes some unwanted rotation action.

I can not crop as usual. The function is restricted to the "no restriction" aspect ratio and it will not allow me to change to another. All other functions of the cropping tool are disabled as well.

I'm trying to move a bunch of unconstrained parts in an assembly. I want them to stay the same distance relative to each other so I want to move them all at once as a whole group. As the above thread states, when I use CTRL + left mouse button and select the desired parts, only one of the parts will move.

I have been building an assembly and suddenly I am unable to move parts according to their constraints. I can move them as soon as they are placed but as soon as I add one constraint it's as if they are glued in place. For example, when I line up two holes I can no longer rotate one part around the grounded component.
Have a turned off some functionality of the program?

I crop in Develop - the hand tool does not come back to let me to shift the image behind it - it stays as a pointer - if I go outside the crop it allows me to rotate - all I want to do is to shfit the crop to a different part of the image.

I've decided to take my art to the digital side..I'm using a wacom tablet and I have a few sketches I've started that I would like to ink the lines for that ultra smooth look. However, I'm using elements 8 (cause I'm poor) and there is no pen tool option. I've never downloaded any plugins either so I wouldn't know where to look or how to install them (if its complicated).

For some reason when I use the cropping tool the floating tool bar has blank icons on it. Sometimes there may be lines in them like they tried to load but most of the time they are just completely white.
They still work and everything but you have to run your mouse over them and wait for the box to pop-up thats says what it is to see which one you need.

I am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?
The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.

So i hit the little "T" text tool, and i get the generic Windows 7 "This program has encountered a program and needs to close" error. I click out of the error box, and all my work disappears as well as any changed preferences and recently opened files. The same happens when i try to use Image> Adjustments>HDR Toning. Yay. And what's funny is BOTH errors display a fault module of "CoolType.dll."
I have tried EVERYTHING that everyone has posted about on every computer-related forum that i could find. NOTHING has worked at all. I deleted every single font minus the system fonts, including anything mentioning them in the system registry. Tried new copy of the dll file, nothing. Reset Photoshop preferences, nothing. System restore failed. Uninstall/reinstall of entire Adobe Master Collection failed.
Oh, and in the 32-bit version, HDR Toning works but the text tool gives me an error message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized." And, well, i just don't want to use the 32-bit version.

I'm trying to compare a selection made with the Auto-Enhance check box on and off with the Quick Selection tool, though I'm not seeing a difference. My understanding is that it gives the selection a smoother, less blocky edge,
1. even though I'm not seeing a difference, is there a reason to just not keep it checked all the time?
2. Can you apply this checkbox after making a selection or only prior to doing one?

With the burn tool one can use it several ways. The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows. Each option changes the burn shade slightly. Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.
One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects. Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.
All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture. It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors. In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper. But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.
So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?

Using the zoom tool, there is a check box to select whether a zoom will also "Resize window to fit." Is there a way, using the _keyboard_, to select or toggle whether I want the window to resize when I use the zoom tool? I often want to go back and forth between asking for the resize and prohibiting it, but I don't want to have to go up with the mouse to click on that little check box all the time.

Today I noticed a slightly peculiar behavior in the Clone Stamp tool when "Aligned" is deselected. Clicking twice on the image with alt or option held down causes the behavior of the tool to change and "Aligned" to become checked. So if you're not planning on using aligned, you alt/option click your mouse for the source point, decide on a different source point, alt/option click again, and suddenly you find yourself using an aligned clone stamp.
This does not happen with the Healing Brush Tool, which makes me think it's not an intentional short cut. It's also mighty irritating. I've tried it with both x64 and x32 CS6 on Windows. Happens on both. Does it also happen on Macintosh? Is there any way to switch this behavior off?

I am having the darndest time figuring out what I'm not understanding with this, "bug". (I call it a bug because it seems to be one, imo.)
Specs:
Mac OS X 10.75
Creative Suite 5, Photoshop 5.1
"Issues":
If I adjust paragraph settings, like indents, in one file, those options do not return to default when I start a new file. Thus, I find myself wondering why I have such large gaps between lines of copy or to the left, etc. when I start a new text layer. (This actually happens not only in new files, but in new layers - the latter is slightly more understandable in that it's the same file.)
When a lightbuld goes on for me: "Check your type settings." And, lo-and-behold, there things are: space before or after a paragraph; right or left indents. All settings that used to be cleared when a new file - or a new layer - are opened. This is excruciatingly annoying. If I apply a layer style (e.g., drop shadow) to a shape layer, and then I create another shape layer, the latter one automatically gets all the same style settings applied. That is, the new layer has the all the same layer styles applied to it by default. Meaning, I have to then delete those as they are often not what I intend.
In any case, it used to be that I could choose what I want my own new files and layers to look like, not have previously used settings automatically applied.
