I use UCS object quite a bit and want to align text to the mycurrent UCS without having to align it to an object. i.e. to select the text andsimply rotate it around the justify point to a set angle relative to the current view.

Specifically, I am using Architecture 2013. I have two parallel walls. How do I set the distance of one relative to the other? I know I can measure the distance, calculate an offset, and move one by that offset. But there must be an easier way?
I know it is possible to precisely position an object in space and on top of another object by entering coordinates. However I prefer to work "relative" with snapping. I used to work with Rhino 5 in 3D. I liked the possibility to constrain the vertical movement of the object being moved. I could then place my object an the same height as an existing one by dragging the cursor over the desired part (notice the white line in enclosure 1). It's like an invisible (snapping) plane stopping the vertically moved object.
Is there a way to achieve the same thing with ease in Autocad by using snapping, ortho-mode, 3D-Move Gizmo or any other kind of technique. I managed to constrain the vertical movement with the Gizmo but I'm unable to achieve the desired effect mentioned above.

What controls origon (x,y = 0,0) of a objects coordinates? I'm not refering to which the "Reference Point".I use a bunch of artboards and sometimes origon originates from the newest artboard i have created, which is great for my workflow. I place a lot of objects using the top coordination tool.
But often the origon fixes it's position to the first artboard. Is there a way to control the origon?Specs: Win7, 64bit, Illustrator CS6 16.0.3.
I select an object, then I select the Relative to object button:in the Property Bar, the X and Y aren't in 0.0 ".I have to deselect and reselect again the object and after that X and Y are ok.Same thing if I deactivate the Relative to object button:the X and Y show me 0.0 ".I have to deselect and reselect again the object and after that X and Y show me the real page's coordinate.

every time i create a 3d object, its not at all straight when i rotate it. all the sides are uneven.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy CorelDRAW has just developed a glitch - I can select objects but not move them (other than by using the nudge button) and if I click twice on the object it doesn't change the nodes to allow me to rotate - weird and seriously difficult to do any work in the programme. I've tried turning the computer off and on again and have tried the default setting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 3dsmax 2013 and would be forever grateful for a solution to a parameter wiring problem. In simple question form: How do you wire a slider helper to rotate an object in LOCAL coordinate mode? I've tried it a hundred times and it's not wiring the rotation parameter in LOCAL coordinate mode, it defaults to world or view coordinate mode. (Look at gif attachment)
To replicate this issue in 3dsmax 2013, simply create a cube in the viewport.
In perspective view(or any other), switch to local coordinate mode and rotate it off center any way you wish. Now create a helper of manipulator-->slider type. Right click on the slider, click wire parameter-->value and link to the Box rotation in Z. Make the connection through a one way (--> wiring from slider to box.
Now when you move the slider value, the box doesn't rotate in local coordinate mode, it rotates in world coordinates or view coordinates. Whatever it is, it's not local. What is the expression for LOCAL coordinate rotation? By default the expression in the slider box of wire parameter dialog is z_rotation(or something like that). Looking at the maxscript reference, I've tried Local_Euler_z_rotation and other stuff. I can't figure out how to just get a local coordinate mode rotation through a simple wire parameter link to a slider.
I'm wondering if there is a method to snap a text object to order to place it automatically parallel (therefore rotate) to the line on the left. see attachment

If there is a quick easy way to spin an object, rotate it on one axis through the 360 degrees a number of times.

I have an object with a drop shadow. I want to rotate the object and the drop shadow 90 degrees. But when I rotate the object, the drop shadow does not rotate along with the object.

I have a polyline path and a rhombus. I will like to array the rhombus along the polyline path. As you can see from the attached file, as the object rotates along the path, it shift off the path such that the distance between the rhombus and the path changes esp at the turn. How can I keep this distance between the rhombus object and the path constant?
View 7 Replies View Related1. When I use the rotate manipulator the rotated object scales up in the world Y axis warping the object when rotating. In a prior step I scaled the object in the Y axis. I scaled the object while the tool was set to local. However I've done many times before but never had this issue. I've deleted history, cleanup, etc but nothing works. The channel box shows all scales are at 1. To test the manipulator, I created a cube and rotated it but the cube didn't scale so it must be something with the object itself.
The pictures show the scaling in relation to the rotate tool. I zoomed to place the object exactly within the inner ring. You'll see it grows when rotated.
2. The rotate manipulator is grey or partially grey. The tool works so it's not a locked channel. Since both issues happened at the same time I'm thinking they are related.
3. I can't get the X/Y grid to show on the front view. The grid is enabled on the panel and in the preferences. The front view, shows the plane of the X/Z grid. The side view shows the Y/Z grid. The top view show the X/Z grid.
