When I add an image to my sketch the main body then appears "of the ground" as you van see from the attached screen shot. The shadow and reflection is distant. The minute I remove the instead image the object and the shadow touch again as it should be.
View 1 RepliesI have one Inventor Pro 2012 SP1 user who is trying to insert a bmp image into a sketch so he can create a decal and the image appears blank and gray. See the attached screen capture. We converted the bmp to a jpg and we get the same result. When I insert the bmp into a sketch on my workstation and it views correctly. I've logged into the same workstation as the user who is having the problem and the image also views correctly. I tried to change the file associaiton from Microsoft Picture View to Paint and I get the same result.
Here are his workstation specs:

Using Civil 3D 2013Coordinates coming out of survey equipment are modified state plane GROUND (scaled up from the origin by the combined factor).Drawing is setup with state plane coordinate system with user defined transformation to establish geodetic reference and the ability to label lat/long or import Bing map data.Survey database is setup with "No Datum, No Projection" (data is already at ground, I don't want ot transformed).Import style is PNEZD and is set to use Northing/Easting not Grid Northing/Grid Easting.After importing points into survey database, coordinates of survey points match the CSV. This is good.After importing points from database to drawing, they are taken as grid coordinates, are scaled again and are off ~5,300 feet northeast.Why would Civil 3D assume the points in the database are grid and scale them when the import style used did not specify grid? Is there a setting or something I can do to tell Civil 3D to leave my coordinates alone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing on which I am going to need to show some photos of the assembly in its installed condition. When I attempt to insert an image, I get very low image quality that is giving me flashbacks to mid-90's video games. I do not get any sort of errors, missing images, file names displayed instead, etc. The image appears, but simply looks terrible, both on the screen and if printed or converted to PDF.
I have tried inserting the image as JPEG, PNG, and BMP, all with identical results. It is not unique to these images, and in fact occurs even if I try inserting images that Inventor created in the first place. Searching on these forums indicates that changing file associations for BMP files to Paint may be the answer, but most of these posts are rather old.
Since my IT department has me locked out of changing these associations for myself, I'd like some confirmation that this is still the likely cause before I go through the red tape of an IT service request.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a WMS in Autodesk 3D Map 2012 to display an Arial image in the Model area. As I zoom in, the Arial image changes showing things in more detail.
Is there a way to crop the image inside a specific boundary? Keep in mind that the image is basically a WMS, not a raster image.
P.S. If i try to print the area of the WMS Arial image that I am interested in (in order to avoid cropping) the result is a grey area.
I'd like to have a menu option next to "Grounded" which is "Grounded to origin", to save setting three flush constraints every time I pull a part into an assembly and want it to have the same origin as the assembly. This is something I do quite a lot using the multibody part > derived part > assembly workflow. Apart from saving time it would save cluttering up the model browser. In the meantime is there a scripting method of doing this with one click? IV2013

Occasionally when I go to print the file all I get is a blank rectangle where the image should be. Now the image does show in the print preview and it will print out normally sometimes.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI seem to have made what many might consider a rookie mistake. Built a fairly complex structure for an overhead crane system and get to the end to find that I missed two holes. The problem with these two holes is it is ONLY 1 plate (my grounded part), but I have used this same part in one other instance. So if I edit (even from within assembly) and add the two holes to the grounded plate it creates them in the other plate, which I dont want.
Since I have the second plate being used as a refence to locate MANY other parts on this unit, it would be quite difficult to replace it with a new part (same but different file name).
Any way to add said two holes to the grounded plate only and not the other?

Was really wanting to get the first image at the end of a spotlight inserted in the second image of the city off in the distance. Kind of like how the batman symbol is in the spotlight. The symbol is my churches logo and was wanting to use it for our Instagram.

Whenever I open a part (or iam), the ground plane and ambient shadows are active. If I turn them off (on View tab, appearance panel) and exit the part, then reopen it again, the ground plane and ambient shadows are active again.
How do I save these appearance settings? Do I have to turn these off EVERYTIME I open a part?
I didnt see anything in the app options for this.
I'm doing drawings of a construction site. Traditionally, in AutoCAD drawings, we show a solid line to represent the ground plane in elevation views. I'd like to do the same thing in my Inventor drawings.
I can "include" the XZ Plane in the view, which shows the line I'm wanting, but it shows as a phantom line.
Right-clicking either the line in the drawing or the plane in the browser only gives me the option to "Edit Center Mark Style..."
If I go to the Style Editor, Object Defaults, Work Plane, the object style is Center Mark (ANSI). If I click on that, the drop-down only gives me that one choice.

I'm trying to make this assembly flexible in that the bar will flex so the "s-clip" can hold the 2 handles together. I read some of the forums about the scissors assembly in the autodesk folders and I can see it working in that assembly btu can't figure out how to make it apply to mine. It is basically one of those camping grills that makes hot sandwiches or pies.

BUT if I make the part a table based iPart, I cannot find the extra non standard workplanes in the WorkPlanes of the part component definition, just the first standard three (XY YZ XZ).
(I've tried this in C++ COM and in VBA).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a model with 12 circular connectors placed (constrained) in the housing surface. well 11 of them are. The last one WILL NOT behave. when i use the insert constraint (or any constraint) the model of the connector modifies itself and becomes a new model with errors.
i have deleted it from the assembly, saved, closed, opened and when re - inserted have the same problem.
I have re-saved the connector model from its original location to the library folder, re-inserted and got the same problem. The connector model is fine in the assembly up until i try to constrain it.
all the connectors were drawn the same way, using parameters, and saved into the same library folder.
I don't understand how adding a constraint can cause a model in a diffferent folder to be modified.

When I draw an object in Illustrator, the shape appears filled in the view of the document, even though it is set to no fill in the apprearance panel. The thumbnail for the object in the layers panel shows it with no fill, and if I copy it and paste it into Photoshop it has no fill there, so it really has no fill. Just in the view of the document where I am drawing it appears with a colored fill.
I'm drawing lots of overlapping shapes, I want them with no fill so I can see the ones behind. This is happening with all the tools I have tried: pen, pencil, paintbrush, shapes, whatever. I've tried restarting Illustrator, also restarting my computer, nothing changes. I may have clicked on some setting inadvertently somewhere, as I've been exploring and clicking on lots of things to see what they do.
So I have an image which I have moved onto another canvas I of course know how to transform an image, but how can I crop the image Ive just moved? So lets say I have a photo of a man that is too big for the new canvas. OK I can use transform to resize it (holding down shift to keep it the same constraints), but then lets say he is still too tall. I dont want to stretch it down in size as he'd look like a midget, so I decide I only want to use the torso and head.
I would have thought I would have used the marquee tool to draw around it, Select>Inverse>Delete key
and this would delete whats outside the marquee box (his legs etc). But that doesnt work. Crop is of course of of the question as it then crops everything on the canvas.
Yes, I COULD resize it completely first, but I'd rather resize/crop it once its on the new canvas.
Is there any option to change the resolution of an inserted image (jpg, bmp, png etc.) in revit interface? See the attachments.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running into some trouble with user parameters that have been inserted into a dimension's "text box". I sometimes hide the dimension itself and insert these parameters so that iLogic can manipulate the upper & lower tolerance limits for a dimension.
The problem seems to arrise anytime one of the dimension's arrows becomes detached from the drawing (and perhaps for other reasons, too, although this is the only clear cause so far). I can reattach the arrow and the dimension seems healthy again, but if I go into the text editor, I notice that the link to any parameters that I've inserted has been lost. They appear as they were last set, but will not update if the parameters themselves change.
Is there a better workaround for this, or can we expect a solution in IV2013? I've invested close to a year's worth of work expecting this method to perform properly, and it will be a letdown if there's no solution.
