Some times we have to insert a Tiff file into a drawing and sketch over the top of the image. Occasionally when I go to print the file all I get is a blank rectangle where the image should be. Now the image does show in the print preview and it will print out normally sometimes.
View 1 RepliesUsing AutoCAD 2010, and I'm having problems printing with one dwg, that I've had to copy an Excel Spreadsheet into. The spreadsheet was created with Excel 2007, and has quite a bit of text in it, and I'm trying to print it on an E size sheet, to an HP Designjet 4000. AutoCAD hangs up each time I try to print this, and my computer gets a message indicating that I'm low on disk space, even tho I do have plenty of space. It's like Autocad is taking more resources than it normally should. How I can insert this spreadsheet into AutoCAD and be able to print it? I've inserted the spreadsheet in model space, and the titleblock/border is in paperspace. I've tried printing to pdf and exporting to other formats to see if that will work, but AutoCAD keeps hanging up. Any other AutoCAD dwg works fine to print to the printer. It's just this one file with a spreadsheet inserted into it.

I found the BlockTableRecord.BlockInsertionPoints event. It is meaning that it can only apply to the whole BlockTableRecord type rather than some individual block references (AutoCAD INSERTs)
I've not used AutoCad for probably 15 years. I used it in my government job, but have forgotten many commands. I have inserted a building survey into a new DWG, and remember that I can find a dimension on that survey, and use it to begin a scale for the drawing, so that I may make additions to the building drawing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running into some trouble with user parameters that have been inserted into a dimension's "text box". I sometimes hide the dimension itself and insert these parameters so that iLogic can manipulate the upper & lower tolerance limits for a dimension.
The problem seems to arrise anytime one of the dimension's arrows becomes detached from the drawing (and perhaps for other reasons, too, although this is the only clear cause so far). I can reattach the arrow and the dimension seems healthy again, but if I go into the text editor, I notice that the link to any parameters that I've inserted has been lost. They appear as they were last set, but will not update if the parameters themselves change.
Is there a better workaround for this, or can we expect a solution in IV2013? I've invested close to a year's worth of work expecting this method to perform properly, and it will be a letdown if there's no solution.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a library of blocks that I built for our company to use. We recently upgraded from 2013 to 2014 and boy did it throw our library for a loop!
There is a check box (reflectivity) that leaves the materials black when the drawing shade mode is changed to Realistic (unless you go in and uncheck the reflectivity box) and while I have figured out how to alleviate that issue (by unchecking it on our tempate and saving it) I am still having a materials issue with our blocks.
I can open the block (and turn on Realistic mode) and all the pieces have their materials like they should. I then open a new drawing and insert the same block into the drawing .. one piece is sans material.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's there on one drawing but it gone when inserted. The new drawing has been purged and doens't contain anything it shouldn't.

I am using a WMS in Autodesk 3D Map 2012 to display an Arial image in the Model area. As I zoom in, the Arial image changes showing things in more detail.
Is there a way to crop the image inside a specific boundary? Keep in mind that the image is basically a WMS, not a raster image.
P.S. If i try to print the area of the WMS Arial image that I am interested in (in order to avoid cropping) the result is a grey area.
I have a drawing on which I am going to need to show some photos of the assembly in its installed condition. When I attempt to insert an image, I get very low image quality that is giving me flashbacks to mid-90's video games. I do not get any sort of errors, missing images, file names displayed instead, etc. The image appears, but simply looks terrible, both on the screen and if printed or converted to PDF.
I have tried inserting the image as JPEG, PNG, and BMP, all with identical results. It is not unique to these images, and in fact occurs even if I try inserting images that Inventor created in the first place. Searching on these forums indicates that changing file associations for BMP files to Paint may be the answer, but most of these posts are rather old.
Since my IT department has me locked out of changing these associations for myself, I'd like some confirmation that this is still the likely cause before I go through the red tape of an IT service request.

Was really wanting to get the first image at the end of a spotlight inserted in the second image of the city off in the distance. Kind of like how the batman symbol is in the spotlight. The symbol is my churches logo and was wanting to use it for our Instagram.

i tried stretching it but its width and length is the same, can't properly put it in a specified area in my working space..
When I add an image to my sketch the main body then appears "of the ground" as you van see from the attached screen shot. The shadow and reflection is distant. The minute I remove the instead image the object and the shadow touch again as it should be.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one Inventor Pro 2012 SP1 user who is trying to insert a bmp image into a sketch so he can create a decal and the image appears blank and gray. See the attached screen capture. We converted the bmp to a jpg and we get the same result. When I insert the bmp into a sketch on my workstation and it views correctly. I've logged into the same workstation as the user who is having the problem and the image also views correctly. I tried to change the file associaiton from Microsoft Picture View to Paint and I get the same result.
Here are his workstation specs:

Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
So I have an image which I have moved onto another canvas I of course know how to transform an image, but how can I crop the image Ive just moved? So lets say I have a photo of a man that is too big for the new canvas. OK I can use transform to resize it (holding down shift to keep it the same constraints), but then lets say he is still too tall. I dont want to stretch it down in size as he'd look like a midget, so I decide I only want to use the torso and head.
I would have thought I would have used the marquee tool to draw around it, Select>Inverse>Delete key
and this would delete whats outside the marquee box (his legs etc). But that doesnt work. Crop is of course of of the question as it then crops everything on the canvas.
Yes, I COULD resize it completely first, but I'd rather resize/crop it once its on the new canvas.
Is there any option to change the resolution of an inserted image (jpg, bmp, png etc.) in revit interface? See the attachments.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to print an A3 drawing on an A4 printer. I saved the drawing as .DWF and opened the "Autodesk Design Review 2012" to perform the "tiling" print. When in printing properties, I can't seam to understand why the drawing is split in 6 pages, when in reality one A3 sheet is 2x A4 sheets. You can see in the example, that so much space is wasted, is there a way to center the drawing, and am I doing everything right here?

I have completed my drawings, converted them to PDF(image 1) and when i print the PDF out, there are parts of the drawing missing as image 2 shows. If i plot direct from autocad, there is no problem with the print.

The plot preview seems to be fine also as I can see the drawing OK. Also It takes a lot longer to print on this drawing. It seems to hang around for about 30 secs and then produces a blank PDF.
I noticed a plot style pen missing which may cause the problem?

I need to automate this such that the user enters numbers and letters from drop menus, (part number is alpha-numeric, each representing voltage, horsepower, motor count, etc,) and have the drawing set created. Reading up on this, I know I still could use VBA, but as that is going to fade into non-existence soon, replaced by .net, I would love to go ahead and create it using .net. When we go to print the drawing on with the xref on it is barely visible. If I open the xref up and print it comes out fine. I have inserted the xref to its own layer.I do not know what to do from here.

Each time I have a format B to print, it prints format B by default.
Now, if i have a drawing format A and another drawing format B to print, i have to change the format prining page each time.
