View 3 RepliesI had to reinstall CS6 and am now looking for my old AI Image Trace custom presets. I'd like to restore them if possible from a Time Machine backup so I don't have to recreate a setting, but I can't seem to find where those are located.

There are no presets to migrate from the older versions
I just switched to Vista 64 on the weekend. I spent a day uploading my programs and figuring out how to kill that annoying UAC pop-up. I installed free Comodo firewall as well, so between newly installed Comodo and Vista's UAC, I was forever confirming and RE-confirming what I was doing. The Mac tv ad wasn't that far wrong - except for the fact the chubby PC guy can dismiss all the annoying UAC guys by disabling them.
I just downloaded a trial copy of CS4 to see how it runs with my 8 gbs of RAM.
I was able to located and enter the Adobe Labs presets for my camera in to ACR.
I still have XP and CS3 installed on another hard drive.
What is the easiest way to migrate my saved actions in CS3 to CS4?
I had a lot of good presets and actions that I've come to rely on. Now that I have Illustrator CC, I'm not using it :-( because I can't find where to migrate the presets from CS6 to CC.
One in particular that I need are my Image Trace presets... I have looked for them in the Presets folder, and even tried moving the "ImageTracing.jsx" script from CS6 to CC, but I don't understand how this is supposed to work.
Presets are so much easier to handle in Photoshop!
I am wondering if my Adobe programs, such as PS, Elements & Lightroom will properly migrate to my new computer using Time Machine?Or will I need to find the original installation disks (recently moved & can't find the PS one, and LR & Elements I loaded online)?

I am shooting RAW and opening in Photoshop CS3 with AdobeRGB profile. My desktop NEC LCD screen displays the images correctly. I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv9910us laptop, and it exhibits some posterization, even at the best screen angle. I'm wondering if this is a problem I will be able to solve or if it is a limitation of the hardware.
17 in. WXGA screen
nVidia GeForce 7150M (shares memory)
3 GB RAM
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60
Vista 32 bit SP1
Color is set to 32 bit, Powerplan to High performance. The monitor has no specific profile. It is set to generic PNP. My older SpyderPro doesn't work with Visa, so I can't create a profile for the monitor (unless I upgrade to Spyder3.
I specifically chose a laptop that had a graphics subsystem, so this posterization is disappointing to me.
I often will edit photos in Adobe RAW on my laptop, and save the RAW files to an external drive. When I pull those photos up on my desktop Photoshop, none of the RAW edits are seen. Shouldn't I be able to see the edits I made on my laptop? What's going on? I have both of my photoshop CS3 programs preferences set the same. Any help with this? Certainly when I edit photos on one computer with photoshop, I should be able to take those files to another computer and continue to edit them.

I'm working with some clients and I, myself, am rather new to AutoCAD. We are using AutoCAD LT 2010. I found, in this forum, how to export custom settings. We exported settings and then imported them on a new computer. All seemed well with one minor exception:
He mentioned that every thing exported as far as window settings go, but within each applet (I'm not sure what it's called when you replace the ribbon with drawing applets), some of the icons weren't in the location where he had it. He reported that his copy icon was in the location that his "Cut" icon was.
How can I migrate my custom settings from AutoCad LT 2008 to AutoCad LT 2012?
View 9 Replies View Relateda few of my various custom lines and shapes in the Tools Presets saved in CS4 and loaded in CS6 do not transfer with the correct Fill and Stroke they had in CS4. Examples are simple things like a red hollow ellipse, a red arrow, etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are curently using ACAD2011.
I installed ACAD2012 but never got the Migrate custom settings box upon opening ACAD2012 for the 1st time.
I reviewed Autodesk Help that ensured me that I could also find it thru:
<start...Autodesk mech 2012Migrate custom settingsmigrate from a previous release>
Epic fail... all that showed up there was export and import autoCAD 2012 settings.
Where oh where could my migration tools box have gone? Why is it not there?
(FYI, this happened to us when we upgraded from 2010 to 2011 also but we thought we had done something wrong so we eventually just manually transferred files over. That was very time consuming and we do not want to perform that exercise again.)
I just installed PS-CC and LR5 on a new computer after a catastrophic failure on the old one, which was running PS-CS6 and LR4. Is there a way to recover my custom settings and presets from a full backup of the old computer and apply them to the new applications on the replacement computer? I have full backups, but no export data for any of the settings or presets. And because the old computer is dead, I can't just run an export.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I migrate my Custom Tool Palettes and Custom Toolbars from Civil 3D 2012 to Civil 3D 2014?
What files do I need to create or copy to transfer to 2014?
My Custom Tool Palette consists of Block Symbols, Border Sheets, Scales and Seals, Lisp Routines etc.
My Custom Toolbar is just a number of standard cad commands I've put together in my toolbar like Revision Cloud, Layer Isolate, Match Properties, Attach Image, etc.
Do I need to export out my cui file, do I need to create a Profile file, do I need to setup the same directory structure naming and copy my files into those same directory names?
Or is there some easy hidden Magic Button in Civil 3D that you click on and it does the rest?
I recently reformatted my computer and I just realized that I lost all of my export presets even though I copied the catalog over. I've searched Finder in the all the usual places that Adobe programs store user data but I can't find them. where I can find my export presets to copy to my new home folder?

View 8 Replies View RelatedHow do I ensure custom presets will be available when I install CS6 upgrade? (Photoshop)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac running OSX 10.8.3 and lately I've been losing presets when Photoshop CS6 crashes or I have some other unrelated problem. First it was brushes-I lost the palette of brushes I had built over years and had to drag in an old set from a networked computer. Then it was Workspaces; same tedious solution. Now, after I had to reinstall the OS two days ago, I've lost the custom size presets under File/New/Presets/Custom. But it isn't clear where these presets reside in the system: the prefs, the app plugins, or the settings. Where are they stored, and why all these preferences or presets seem to be more volatile in CS6 than they were previously? Or is this all a fig newton of my imagination?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?
I've never had this issue before, but recently when I create a new document preset and go through the process of saving it, it simply doesn't save (File > New > Preset: Custom > Save Preset > Ok). I've tried reinstalling CS6, removing all other custom things I had (textures, brushes, etc.) but not matter what I do, I cannot for the life of me get custom new document presets to save anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried many times to create custom size documents inPSE 10 without success. For example from the File Menu I select New Document and key in sizes required making any other adjustments. I name the file and close the document. When I open a document to select a custom preset that I have created the Custom Box displays but the dropdown "size" box (where I need to select my preset) is Greyed out.
Seems I am not the only one who is having difficulty with something that is normally straightforward and I wonder if the problem is down to an oversight or bug.
LR4 will not save a custom preset. I am experiencing this issue in the Book module for Layout presets, in the identity plate setup. Even in export I am not able to see my saved preset, I mean it does not even exist. After I save a preset in export and I go to export with preset my new preset does not exist.

I had been using a computer custom built as a digital audio workstation, but started adding my images and processing software such as Photoshop, also Scanner, Tablet, 11 hard drives, etc. I've been having problems with a conflict with the audio card I think and had to disable it, so now I can't use it for its original purpose.
This was built years ago and is PEP4, 2G Ram, 2.4 Ghz Win XP Pro.
I am having lots of trouble with slowness and repaated "Photoshop (or Bridge) must close" It takes ages for it to reindex folders with hundreds of images.
I am thinking of building a custom computer specifically for CS3 and all the related hardware and would like advice on components that should handle everything well, and be fast.
I don't know how much things have improved on off-the shelf computers. It seems that the speed has not improved much at all beyond the 2.4Ghtz of this older one, but I just received a brochure from Dell with 4G Ram, 640 G HD and a monitor (not needed) for $1600. I don't know about the number of USBs etc and space inside for expansion, like mine.
We have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on. I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.
