a few of my various custom lines and shapes in the Tools Presets saved in CS4 and loaded in CS6 do not transfer with the correct Fill and Stroke they had in CS4. Examples are simple things like a red hollow ellipse, a red arrow, etc.
View 2 Replieswhy I suddenly lose all my loaded presets and also preferences (like zooming with the mouse wheel). I don't lose the presets altogether, but I have to go back and reload them again. This doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally and I can't fathom out why.

Currently if I draw a line, make it transparent, the next line as default the same color and width, but does not inherit the transparency. That means it is not possible or just at me
I use the path tool to create the shape of the text line I want to curve. I enter the text I want with the font, colour, etc, and select text along path. The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. I can change the font / colour of the original text which works great, but the text along the path doesn't seem to change.

But turbo smooth creates a big mess. Swift loop won't work. Is it because sides are single polygons? Is there an easy way to add edges inside them?

I tried using the line selection tool to create a stroke path in the shape of the design I wanted, but I can't get it to emulate this brush (it always just fades to opaque instead of tapering to a point).
I had to reinstall CS6 and am now looking for my old AI Image Trace custom presets. I'd like to restore them if possible from a Time Machine backup so I don't have to recreate a setting, but I can't seem to find where those are located.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the line tool to drag out an ordinary line, but every time I do, an arrow shape appears. I've tried looking for other shapes, hoping "line" would be one of them, but I couldn't find anything. I've looked at the help file, searched online, but I didn't find anything. All I want to do is drag out a regular line with the line tool, but all it gives me is an arrow. Does anybody know what option I should look at to change the arrow into a line?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've never asked about this but I've succeeded in doing this many times over the years. I have this habit of flying through my keystrokes and sometimes hit a key or a series of keys causing the entire Tool bar and Window presets to disappear.
Until now, I've reset each window to show my actions, history, etc. and re click on Tools in the Window scroll to have them show up again. The question is two-pronged: What am I accidentally hitting on my keyboard to make all these disappear at once and is there a keystroke I can use to bring them all up again?
Every time I reboot, all of my tool presets are lost:
Brushes, dodge and burn tool, smudge tool - all
revert to default settings. Sure, there is a Save Tool
Presets in the tool pallet but do I really have to
reload my tool presets every time I reboot?
I have a list of brushes in the Tool Presets. I go to the Preset Manager and organize them in an order that makes sense to me, then I Save the presets with a name in the Tools presets. Just to be sure, I save the workspace with a new name.
If I close PS and reopen it, the tools appear in the Tools Presets, but not in the order I saved them earlier. They are all in alpahbetical order again.
I've gone through this several times, and it seems I am doing it right. I must be missing a step somewhere. This is on Windows 7, 64 Bit, Photoshop 5.
I'm trying to import Actions and tool presets from CS5 to CS6. I've read the FAQs, done the Import Presets, the pop-up box says they have been imported, I've re-started CS6, but there are still only the default sets. I looked at:- Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets, it is there, but has 0 bytes.

I just installed CD on my daughter's computer and her shape tool only allows for a free form selection by following the cursor in a free form way. My install allows for a rectangular click-and-drag type of selection. I see no options for this tool Is her install bad?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere's mention of a "tool presets" function. e.g. you set up your box tool just so (colors, alpha blend, thickness etc) and could then save this as "my blue box #2" etc to be recalled later instead of a ton of clicks to set it up the way you want. Is this possible to do somehow & I just missed it? are there any plugins or something that could enable a feature like this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to print in Elements 11, after clicking "Print/Page Setup/Presets/Show Presets", the box freezes. Clicking Cancel or OK does not work. I then have to Force Quit Elements to clear it. Apple say that it is a problem with Elements. Using the same procedure in other applications, clicking Cancel or OK does work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had GIMP 2.8 up and running the last month or so. Just last night, it wouldnt load up. It got to the: tools preset and, says it has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I havent updated anything lately, and havent installed any new fonts, scripts or brushes in weeks, with the exception of saving some brushes with the: paste as brush command.
I am running the version 2.8.4 on my compaq Notebook, Windows 7. GIMP 2.6 works fine if i downgrade.
Is there anyway to change the Dimension tool pre sets?... i.e. color of line. type of arrow head, etc?
At the moment i have to change them every time i use the tool!
I have been using GIMP for a few weeks now and all of a sudden I cannot start the program anymore. During start up of GIMP 2.8 it displays a window saying it is loading data files. It gets as far as loading 'Tool presets' when it crashes. I tried restarting the computer and also uninstalling and re-installing GIMP with the same end result.

On paint it shows exactly how the line looks as ur drawing it,
but on Photoshop it shows some rectangle outline of the line.
The line tool icon has disappeared from the tool bar and I don't know how to re-activate it.

2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?
3. and finally maybe a slightly less easy one- In Paint, when you cut out an object and paste it, you can select for the white of the image to become transparent so you can paste over what you have already.. is thee a feature in PS for this?
I'm trying to use the line tool to draw a colored line, I draw the line via Line tool, it appears in grey, I right click>stroke path and select Pencil > OK, the line is still grey and not the foreground color. If I do the same with a Rectangle Tool, it works fine and darws me a nice colored rectangle. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me nuts...!!
