I'm trying to use the line tool to draw a colored line, I draw the line via Line tool, it appears in grey, I right click>stroke path and select Pencil > OK, the line is still grey and not the foreground color. If I do the same with a Rectangle Tool, it works fine and darws me a nice colored rectangle. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me nuts...!!
I want to erase the watermark and x mark from a istock image for comping purposes. What is the easiest/fastest way to do this? Clone Stamp/patch tool? If stamp tool, how do you get the tool to delete the x line in a straight line. Mine always copys pixels next to it.
1. if i draw a line using the line tool.. can i curve it to say 40 degrees like i can with the text function?
2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?
3. and finally maybe a slightly less easy one- In Paint, when you cut out an object and paste it, you can select for the white of the image to become transparent so you can paste over what you have already.. is thee a feature in PS for this?
I should be able to apply an effect to a line that has been made with the line tool. Why is this not working?I thought that maybe I might have disabled Effects somehow, but I can't think of anything.
I would like to add the effect of hand stitched thread around some of my designs. The line tool can change a line to dashes but this is a bit too uniform for hand stitching. I have seen a tutorial on doing this in Photoshop where a brush is made with a few small different length strokes. this is then spaced out and made to follow a path. how to create a hand stitch effect using X5 that looks like natural hand stitching...
I have to draw a rather weird drawing with a lot of angled lines. Currently I'm using UCS to draw them but it's really tiresome.
I would draw 1 line, then type in UCS, select the X and Y axis, draw that line, escape, then hit in UCS again, rinse and repeat.
Is there a simpler way? I tried polar tracking "relative to last segment" but it still uses the x axis as the base, which is not what I want. I want the line to be the X axis.
I'm trying to use it instead of my photoshop «not very legal» version.
There is a feature I really like in Photoshop and GIMP which is the ability to draw a line using pen/brush/eraser/any tool using the SHIFT modifier key. This really miss me in Paint.NET. You click somewhere, you move the cursor elsewhere, holding SHIFT you click again, and (using the tool you currently have selected) a perfect line is drawn between the two points.
I'm using GIMP 2.6.11. When I use the line tool and left click + shift to snap a line from point to point, there's no preview line that shows exactly where the line is going to be drawn. In former version(s) of GIMP, I could clearly see where the line was going to be placed because of this feature. I miss it because when doing technical drawings precision and exact angles are needed. Is this feature not included with GIMP 2.6.11? How I can get this tool to work like it used to?
Started producing a new catalogue some time ago very happy working away on the first 3 – 4 pages
Before long I was up to 100 pages, looking fantastic. But then the thought come to me, I have set may page colour to BLACK and all my drawing and text are WHITE as I said looks fantastic until you go to print a page. How much black Ink would you use printing 100 pages black.
SO MY QUESTION IS CAN COREL REVERSE THE LINE ART TO BLACK AND THE PAGE TO WHITE SO I CAN HAVE A PRINTABLE VERSION ?
I have tried publishing to PDF then in acrobat replacing document colours and on screen that works fine but when you print it still prints
With the black background and white text for some reason.
I select the Line tool from the tool box, it won't paint a line, it paints an arrow!
When I select Line Tool the arrow is the default
I don't what happened, but the freaking arrow took over my line. I can't even draw a strait line anymore! I don't know how! If I select the box "Current Tool Only" then ONLY the arrow thing is available.
how to use Photoshop CS, and I have not seen anything regarding the line tool or what it does. I am not trying to do anything specifically, I just want to find out why I get a funky arrowhead shaped thing instead of a line when I try to use it.
I am currently working with an image that I want to have end up being a 2d line image in a CAD program (or illustrator, i can go illustrator -> cad)
I started by using the cutout filter on the image, to make it have 4 layers. Then, I used the magic want tool to make each cutout layer its own photoshop layer.
This is where I am stuck. I cannot figure out how to move forward from this. I tried putting the image into Illustrator, but when I get it in there, with the 4 layers from photoshop, I cannot get teach cutout "block" to be its own vector; it is just recognized as an image file.
I am on a PC using Photoshop CS3. I have drawn a besier curve using the pen tool and would now like to 'stroke' the line so that I have a nice thin sharp line. If I 'right click' I only get the option to stroke the path using one of the brushes and 'simulate pressure'.
I am unable to use the line tool.I am using photoshop 7.It was working last 2 years ago on the computer. But now when ever pressing on line tool from the tools box (where pen pencil paint bucket etc are) is displaying a arrow head 10 times as large with a tail behind it?
I am using HP Pavilion g series, Vista window.Using photoshop CS3. Biggest problem i facing that when i type something and i want to go to next line and i press button ENTER. It wont go to next line That means i couldnt write in kind of paragraph. For each line i have to set new layer.
I'm running 13.0.1 right now and am stymied by the line tool UX. The problem stems from the fact that although you feel you are drawing a line, you are actually drawing a box.
Follow these steps running 13.0.1 x64:
Create a new docSelect the Vector Line toolType in a Stroke width (eg: 20px)Draw your lineNotice that the line is still 1px weight.
Of course, after much fiddling around you realize that you need to set the FILL to your stroke colour, your Stroke to NONE and then specify the WEIGHT over in the far right of the control bar.
This really isn't the right UX for drawing lines, particularly if you're coming from any other vector drawing environment.
Some how I have made it so the LINE TOOL is a Thin ARROW. I have no idea how I did it and I really need this reset to how it should be.
I cannot even understand HOW I could have made the Line Tool anything other than the Line as it's the Custom styles where you can select what Custom sytle cursor to use.
which is to make a simple line with the pen tool and have it fill in. When I make three points it connects the first and last to form a triangle, but I'm not trying to make a triangle, I want to make an "L" shape. How can I make it fill just two (or three) points to make a straight line?
when i use type tool, i can generate letters, but when i press the enter button to start a new line, then it starts printing backwards. and i cannot place cursor on next line. what are the leading, baseline, tracking and kerning supposed to be set at for normal display.
I have photoshop cs4 extended and a wacom tablet + pen. Sometimes while I sketch(drawing lines fast) making dots, drawing things close to each other, a thick line jump from my dot or start point of drawing to some other point in the line. It's really annoying when you sketch something and suddenly and thick black line jumps across your drawing. Or when drawing dots close to each other, a line suddenly connects them.
