I should be able to apply an effect to a line that has been made with the line tool. Why is this not working?I thought that maybe I might have disabled Effects somehow, but I can't think of anything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe above image shows my problem. All have the same zig zag effect setting, but due to inconsistent anchor point spacing there is inconsistent waviness. Is there a way to make a wavy line that is not a distortion based on anchor point distances? I'd like all my wavy lines to look nice and consistent like this:
The only reason they're so consistent is the absolute setting has been used but these lines are all straight and have only 2 anchor points, start and finish, hence the wave is consistent. It's harder when the lines are curvy and have a different number and spacing of anchor points.
I must have pushed one or the other button but I don't know which one!
I use CS5 and have now a small arrow on my line segment tool (as shown in the picutres):
Ever since that when i click shift, it just allows me to draw vertical lines, rather than vertical or horizontal.
I have created city/landscape artwork using photoshop line and box tools. If you go to URL... then click on the link that says (click here to view Gotham City) you will see one of the images I am talking about. Can this image be made to look the same in vector.

The line tool can change a line to dashes but this is a bit too uniform for hand stitching. I want to erase the watermark and x mark from a istock image for comping purposes. What is the easiest/fastest way to do this? Clone Stamp/patch tool? If stamp tool, how do you get the tool to delete the x line in a straight line. Mine always copys pixels next to it.

I'm trying to draw some text so that it has an effect like in fig. 2 of the attached picture, not fig. 1. Is it possible to make somehow? For a simple image like this I could of course manually remove the few lines, but for a more complex text it's not possible, and I can't seem to find a solution myself.

2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?
3. and finally maybe a slightly less easy one- In Paint, when you cut out an object and paste it, you can select for the white of the image to become transparent so you can paste over what you have already.. is thee a feature in PS for this?
I'm trying to use the line tool to draw a colored line, I draw the line via Line tool, it appears in grey, I right click>stroke path and select Pencil > OK, the line is still grey and not the foreground color. If I do the same with a Rectangle Tool, it works fine and darws me a nice colored rectangle. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me nuts...!!

When I use the line tool and left click + shift to snap a line from point to point, there's no preview line that shows exactly where the line is going to be drawn. In former version(s) of GIMP, I could clearly see where the line was going to be placed because of this feature. I miss it because when doing technical drawings precision and exact angles are needed. Is this feature not included with GIMP 2.6.11? How I can get this tool to work like it used to?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI drew a line using the line tool and then used the smooth zig zag to create a wave.The wave starts with the "low wave" and I want it to start with the "high Wave" so I tried the mirror option but that does not seem to make any difference.
I then made my "wave" longer and treid to use the pathfinder tool to "cut" the part of the wave I wanted but that did not work either.Is the line tool and zig zag the wrong tool to use?
Using Illustrator CC. I made a sphere shape and reshaped it using a warp effect.
Now when I try use a transform command (reflect or rotate) it only effects the “original” bound box which is the sphere I first made, and not my warp effect shape. My question is can I modify a shape after I apply a warp effect?
I am using live paint to paint cartoon character illustrations. The artwork is brought into Illustrator CS3 and live traced. Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill. Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in. If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill. This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files. If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok? I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.

More to the point, midway through lining over something my lines stopped showing endpoints to snap to when I wished to place another, resulting in some rather unpleasantly rough shapes. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using Illustrator CS6 as a test version and when I use the pen tool to make a beaver (school assignment), it all end up in one layer. I want to have a new path-layer from every line with the pen tool, so I can remove lines in the layer panel too. At the moment it's one layer that have a picture of a beaver and I can't see the individual lines I've drawn. When I used CS5 recently I didn't have this problem. Is it a setting I can change or does it have something to do with the news in CS6?

On the other hand, when I draw in Illustrator with the Brush Tool, it tries to clean up the line for me. But it cleans up the line a little too much for my liking. How do I tell Illustrator to ease up on the clean-up?

when I (try to ) use Pencil and Brush tools, (cross-hatching), some lines get erased/replaced by the lines drawn close to them. It must have something to do with the preferences, but I am not sure what to change/adjust.
