Illustrator :: Can't Apply Effect / Warp - Wave To A Line Made With Line Tool
Mar 24, 2014I should be able to apply an effect to a line that has been made with the line tool. Why is this not working?I thought that maybe I might have disabled Effects somehow, but I can't think of anything.

Dec 29, 2013I drew a line using the line tool and then used the smooth zig zag to create a wave.The wave starts with the "low wave" and I want it to start with the "high Wave" so I tried the mirror option but that does not seem to make any difference.
I then made my "wave" longer and treid to use the pathfinder tool to "cut" the part of the wave I wanted but that did not work either.Is the line tool and zig zag the wrong tool to use?

More to the point, midway through lining over something my lines stopped showing endpoints to snap to when I wished to place another, resulting in some rather unpleasantly rough shapes. My question is: what did I press / change to do this, and how can I go about un-doing it?

Dec 9, 2012I'm currently using Illustrator CS6 as a test version and when I use the pen tool to make a beaver (school assignment), it all end up in one layer. I want to have a new path-layer from every line with the pen tool, so I can remove lines in the layer panel too. At the moment it's one layer that have a picture of a beaver and I can't see the individual lines I've drawn. When I used CS5 recently I didn't have this problem. Is it a setting I can change or does it have something to do with the news in CS6?

Dec 23, 2012I know that when I draw with a brush or pencil tool in Photoshop, the line will pretty much look the way I drew it, warts and all.
On the other hand, when I draw in Illustrator with the Brush Tool, it tries to clean up the line for me. But it cleans up the line a little too much for my liking. How do I tell Illustrator to ease up on the clean-up?

Here is an old map where you can see the double broken lines. I know how to set it so the line has gaps in it, but I need a line to be the same next to it.

I thought it might have something to do with the sync to the cloud, but I don't believe this to be the case. All of my curved lines seem to have moved or doubled so now there are two of the same very close to each other which makes the line width seem heavy. Because my curved lines are not exactly where I created them now it means that my hatching does not sit flush with its boundary. A separate issue is that when I am choosing 'pick points' to hatch, they take a very long time to select before the hatch box appears.

Sep 17, 2012I've been transferring a lot of old vidoes from analog tape to digital video. All video files have been created as H.264 640x480 mp4 with Elgato Video Capture. And all video-files display fine in, VLC, Media Player Classic, Quicktime and even iMovie. Some of these import fine into Premiere CS5.5 without problem, but some end up looking green, distorted and doubled, like this:
I've tried to Interpret Footage on the broken clips, setting the framerate to a constant like 25fps. But this seems to have no effect.When I try to import the same file into After Effects CS5.5, I get this error: after effects error: overflow converting ratio denominators 17::18..I've crosschecked two video files against each other to find some differences, but there is none, as far as I can see.

As it isn't working as you can see. I've used 0, 0 and 24, 24 as my data points. Is there any way I can change how this is presented so it's clear that it's at the origin?

2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?
3. and finally maybe a slightly less easy one- In Paint, when you cut out an object and paste it, you can select for the white of the image to become transparent so you can paste over what you have already.. is thee a feature in PS for this?

Feb 18, 2009I'm trying to use the line tool to draw a colored line, I draw the line via Line tool, it appears in grey, I right click>stroke path and select Pencil > OK, the line is still grey and not the foreground color. If I do the same with a Rectangle Tool, it works fine and darws me a nice colored rectangle. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me nuts...!!

Jun 25, 2012I am using live paint to paint cartoon character illustrations. The artwork is brought into Illustrator CS3 and live traced. Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill. Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in. If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill. This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files. If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok? I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.
