View 7 RepliesI am upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. When I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 on my present computer, I said yes to preserving the old presets. But how will this work on a new computer? And, in fact, all of my versions of Photoshop going back I can't recall how far have been upgrades. How is this handled with a new computer? I have the CS3, CS5 and CS6 installation disks. I am not sure about the older versions. So, two questions here: 1. How is the CS6 installation handled if all I've had for the past who-knows-how-long is upgrades. I started with one of the very first Photoshops. And 2.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an upgrade from CS5 to CS6. I have never had Photoshop on my laptop, just my desktop PC. However, I will be attending a photography school in a few months, and I'd like to have Photoshop on my laptop. Can I install the CS6 upgrade on my laptop? (It's a download, not a CD).

View 15 Replies View RelatedWhenever I click on Setup.exe, the hourglass shows for a moment and then nothing at all happens! I have tried everything I know: making a New Admin account, disabling Services and Startups via msconfig, doing a thorough virus check (nothing found), etc. I have tried to first uninstall CS3 but, surprisingly, it will not uninstall via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel: after clicking Change/Remove, nothing happens. I spent considerable time with a support person at Adobe but to no avail.
I should add that I install and uninstall programs frequently, and I have never before had any such problems with other Adobe products such as Lightroom or previous versions of Photoshop. There is nothing exotic about my system: Windows XP, dual monitors (I tried disabling one of them), 4gb RAM, 3 internal hard drives, ATI radeon graphics card.
Can I do a clean install of Ps CS4 upgrade without having to install Ps CS3?

Installing PS CS4 upgrade over CS3.
Downloaded file unpacks OK, but when running Setup the Checking System Profile bar gets to about 90% the PS Setup window flashes up for barely a second, then the install hangs, ie no further progress with the Checking System Profile (left if for 20 mins or so).
I've downloaded and run a new CS4 upgrade file from Adobe store. No change.
I've added SP3 (was on SP2), no change.
How do I install presets.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed PS-CC and LR5 on a new computer after a catastrophic failure on the old one, which was running PS-CS6 and LR4. Is there a way to recover my custom settings and presets from a full backup of the old computer and apply them to the new applications on the replacement computer? I have full backups, but no export data for any of the settings or presets. And because the old computer is dead, I can't just run an export.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac running OSX 10.8.3 and lately I've been losing presets when Photoshop CS6 crashes or I have some other unrelated problem. First it was brushes-I lost the palette of brushes I had built over years and had to drag in an old set from a networked computer. Then it was Workspaces; same tedious solution. Now, after I had to reinstall the OS two days ago, I've lost the custom size presets under File/New/Presets/Custom. But it isn't clear where these presets reside in the system: the prefs, the app plugins, or the settings. Where are they stored, and why all these preferences or presets seem to be more volatile in CS6 than they were previously? Or is this all a fig newton of my imagination?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?
I have LR 3 and I would like to upgrade to LR 4. Can I install the upgrade to LR 4 and still keep my LR 3 installation intact so that I can switch back and forth between the two versions if I want to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've never had this issue before, but recently when I create a new document preset and go through the process of saving it, it simply doesn't save (File > New > Preset: Custom > Save Preset > Ok). I've tried reinstalling CS6, removing all other custom things I had (textures, brushes, etc.) but not matter what I do, I cannot for the life of me get custom new document presets to save anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried many times to create custom size documents inPSE 10 without success. For example from the File Menu I select New Document and key in sizes required making any other adjustments. I name the file and close the document. When I open a document to select a custom preset that I have created the Custom Box displays but the dropdown "size" box (where I need to select my preset) is Greyed out.
Seems I am not the only one who is having difficulty with something that is normally straightforward and I wonder if the problem is down to an oversight or bug.
Just purchased and downloaded the upgrade to X6. During install, the license information is presented, but after clicking the "agree" checkbox and slecting "NEXT", nothing happens. No error message, the NEXT button remains bold as if it has not been selected. Repeated download with same results with 2nd download. Turned off real-time virus checking, same result.CorelPainterLite (free with X6 upgrade) fails in the same manner.
Dell XPS-8500 with i7-3770 CPU, 12GB Ram, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I installed the upgrade version of Lightroom 5 (running 3.6) on a Dell laptop with 4GB RAM and Windows 7 Ultimate. The install never asked for the serial number. When I try to start it I get the folowing message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have custom profiles (created in ProfileMaker 5.0.10) for 9 Canon iPF5100/6100/8300 printers installed on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 MacPro. All worked fine using CS5 and CS5.5. They are Printer(X)-(Paper Type). After installing CS6 the Photoshop print dialogue Profile list doesn't show these profiles any more.
I've confirmed that the profiles are there and are working fine by running the CS5.5 versions of PS but they won't show up in the CS6 PS Print Profile menu. They also appear and work in the CS6 PS Soft Proofing dialogue.A question similar to this appeared in the PS CS6 beta forum, but was never answered.
LR4 will not save a custom preset. I am experiencing this issue in the Book module for Layout presets, in the identity plate setup. Even in export I am not able to see my saved preset, I mean it does not even exist. After I save a preset in export and I go to export with preset my new preset does not exist.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had to reinstall CS6 and am now looking for my old AI Image Trace custom presets. I'd like to restore them if possible from a Time Machine backup so I don't have to recreate a setting, but I can't seem to find where those are located.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThat would be a HUGE WORKFLOW!
E.g. PS like possibility for own mapping. ESPECIALLY for mapping of any kind of of own custom presets.
Please note that MANY of us use WACOM tablets or similar. With PS any tablet works like a charm. There is quite some space for improvement yet.
I really did search on this. All I found elsewhere was a very complicated custom batch file tweak-install. Does this mean that this program can only install everything that comes with it? I am considering an upgrade but do not want to install each and every sub-product that comes with extended.
