I've never had this issue before, but recently when I create a new document preset and go through the process of saving it, it simply doesn't save (File > New > Preset: Custom > Save Preset > Ok). I've tried reinstalling CS6, removing all other custom things I had (textures, brushes, etc.) but not matter what I do, I cannot for the life of me get custom new document presets to save anymore.
View 1 RepliesLR4 will not save a custom preset. I am experiencing this issue in the Book module for Layout presets, in the identity plate setup. Even in export I am not able to see my saved preset, I mean it does not even exist. After I save a preset in export and I go to export with preset my new preset does not exist.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to create a new Document in Illustrator I'll select a default document type like : Mobile and Devices. Then I go down to the different sizes and bam. The problem. I can't pick a default size that "I" want to use. Yes there are preset sizes but none of them are the ones I want to use. Ok there has to be a text file or something that lets me edit/add new document sizes to illustrator. It shouldn't be this hard. I don't own CS6. I'm on an older version of Illustrator right now. I don't know if you guys fixed this in CS6. But it should be like photoshop or indesign. Why it's different baffles me.

This is a JDI if there ever is one. Make all presets in all programs the same (editing wise) and if possible make a preset manager that allows for one preset to be added or edited and all apps see these presets.
I have tried many times to create custom size documents inPSE 10 without success. For example from the File Menu I select New Document and key in sizes required making any other adjustments. I name the file and close the document.When I open a document to select a custom preset that I have created the Custom Box displays but the dropdown "size" box (where I need to select my preset) is Greyed out.

Seems I am not the only one who is having difficulty with something that is normally straightforward and I wonder if the problem is down to an oversight or bug.
I just recently re-installed CS4 onto another computer and now I can't select "Custom" in the size when creating a new document.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to save a custom artboard setup with a custom document profile in illustrator cs5? I do technical illustrations and our page size is odd (7.19 x 8.96. It the size that our Framemaker layout is set to.). I have a custom document profile that I use, but I use the grids all the time so that my callouts are spaced out evenly around the art. I would like to have a way to set the artboard up so that the grid will align to the center of the artboard everytime I turn them on. Right now they always start from the top left and when I center art in the center of the page, the grid spacing isn't the same on each side of the art. I just want to be able to open my document profile, turn on my grids, have them start from the center, and I can get down to business. As it is now I have to go into my artboard settings and manually adjust the grid to the center. Small annoyance, but it still annoys me. I have tried to save it a few different ways, but nothing has worked. Maybe there just isn't a way.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Mac running OSX 10.8.3 and lately I've been losing presets when Photoshop CS6 crashes or I have some other unrelated problem. First it was brushes-I lost the palette of brushes I had built over years and had to drag in an old set from a networked computer. Then it was Workspaces; same tedious solution. Now, after I had to reinstall the OS two days ago, I've lost the custom size presets under File/New/Presets/Custom. But it isn't clear where these presets reside in the system: the prefs, the app plugins, or the settings. Where are they stored, and why all these preferences or presets seem to be more volatile in CS6 than they were previously? Or is this all a fig newton of my imagination?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?
I tryed searching for this on google and the forums but I never got a strait answer, what I need is to save some skin colors that I made into swatches, but I dont have the time or patience to delete all the other swatches in my pallette, anyone know a way of just saving my swatches i made.

Please note that MANY of us use WACOM tablets or similar. With PS any tablet works like a charm. There is quite some space for improvement yet.
Is there any way to extend the "new document" presets as to include custom background or multi layered file ? I find myself using the same layer folders tree and it would be awesome to be able to start right away with a blank document already loaded with this tree.If complete multi layered file is not possible, something like being able to choose the background from a picture (instead of white/color/transparent) would be a great time saver.

The existing files are embedded with a unique colour profile, I ideally need to use that profile so that the new photography exactly matches colour wise, as I will be using some elements from the original files.
Is there any way to save the embedded profile, so that I can apply it to any new files that I work on?
Photoshop 13.1.1 x64. Mac Pro 3.33 6-core running OSX 10.6.8, 48Gb RAM. Working on a large-ish .PSD file (650 Mb) and saving to a network drive (a Drobo connected to a server) which is our usual routine and has been for years.

Problem – When I save the document and close it, the saved file (in the correct target location) shows the correct modified time and date stamp but if you open that file up again a lot of work is missing. In this instance, about the last half hours work (since the previous time I saved it). However, if you then go to File > Open Recent and choose the file name, the document opens with all the missing up-to-date work in it.

Clearly, File > Open Recent is opening a temporary document somewhere and not the saved file in the target location.

My concern is why isn't the saved file (with correct modified time and date) up-to-date? Suddenly we are having to double check every PS file we work on and save and that is not practical.
I have 300 photos that are being saved as thumbnails for my online store. I am looking to see if I am able (in automated batch saving) to add "-TN" after the document name, before the extension. It will let me add the dash but not "TN."

An example of how my document name needs to be is "MyFile-TN.gif".
I'm changing computers and need to transfer over my custom document output settings in Bridge but don't know how to locate them. I have several types of custom documents.

Using CS5 Windows on a Windows 7 computer.
When trying to print in Elements 11, after clicking "Print/Page Setup/Presets/Show Presets", the box freezes. Clicking Cancel or OK does not work. I then have to Force Quit Elements to clear it. Apple say that it is a problem with Elements. Using the same procedure in other applications, clicking Cancel or OK does work.

I'd like to know if there's any way to "recover" them. I still have access to the PS folders, but not PS itself. It's a little complicated. The partition I previously installed PS is now on the slave drive, because I couldn't boot from that partition, which is why I had to install XP once more on the (now) master hdd.

Is it possible to create AND save predefined document sizes instead of the standard US-letter, US-legal, A4, A3…? And DELETE these for video and screen sizes, ect., which I don`t need? I need my own standard sizes (print) for a daily working basis like business cards -> 85x55, postcard ->... A4). So that I don`t have to type the measures again and again manually within a new document or existing artwork. I normally combine all printproduct (drawingareas) for a client in ONE AI file.

I am workking on a very large publication (width of 150.8") and I can't seem to work with it in Photoshop. I did most of the work in ilustrator, however, I now need to add and work with photos for this publication, and to my horror, photoshop will not allow me to open the AI file without cropping or scaling it first.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe difference in document size between PS6 and Bridge 6. After the final editing, the picture (PSD) size will be say 85 MB in PS6. However, viewing the same picture in Bridge, or Windows Explorer, the size will be 150 MB.

I should also mention that the pictures were passed through LR4, then on to PS.
