I have problem getting that smooth effect especially in the center of the piecehow to achieve this with a brush, i tried with lower opacity, flow, brush settings, the effect is kind of liquify, like the guy used smudge kind of, but not really[URLs]...

When I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer

This shortcoming in combination with the fact that Photoshop uses very fine noise to smooth transitions between gradations in 8-bit channels and therefore creates very unsightly, jugged effect even when displacement source is a gradient. Unfortunately the filter does not work with 16-bit channels and its closest relative - Liquify uses meshes instead of images for input.
So here is my question: does any of you aware of a way, in Photoshop or otherwise to create silky smooth displacements within 2D imagery (there are bunch of software to accomplish it in 3D) using interpolated 8 bit or original 16-bit (or higher) images as source?
The attached image was produced by displacing perfectly smooth word "test" with plain black to white gradient at 999% displacement strength.

I'm using the standard soft round brush to blend colors, which has always given a smooth effect, but now it suddenly looks all pixelated. The brush strokes also appears in rings instead of a smooth gradient. It looks as if the picture has been sharpened too much or saved in bad quality. I've already tried things like changing the brush settings, deleting Photoshop preferences, increasing the RAM assigned to Photoshop, but nothing works.

actually I have bulk actions when I'm doing this procedure and only do these things: reduce image from example around 900x600 to 180x120 and then I just do filter - sharpen - sharpen.It's nothing special comparing to this photo
I was editing my largest project to date (I'm still well a novice) and once I needed to remove a middle portion I realized how in the heck can I slide the remainder entire timeline to fit the gap? I tried the slide tools, hand tool, and the track select tool. I know host to highlight the remainder of the timeline.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just had my gopro take 377 pictures over a few hours (30 seconds apart) and imported them all into the timeline. What I want to do is compress all these to a time frame somewhere around 1-1:30 or so just for a short clip of clouds moving across the sky. This is easy enough to do by selecting them all and bulk changing the duration to some fraction of a second. The problem is that it was quite breezy so the movement of the tree branches from one frame to another make it more "jerky" than I want when playing back.
Is there some way to smooth this out, I was thinking a real short fade transition between each frame, but that would take a month of Sundays and I don't know if I can get the transition short enough. I tried importing with default transition to cross-fade but the transition was way too long.
Does it exist? If not, why not? I discovered it in SAI and it's amazing how easily one could draw smooth curves with the brush/pencil without a need to mess with vectors but SAI is seriously lacking in many basic things that Paint.net has (i couldn't even change the size of a cut/pasted object). It would be perfect if Paint.net had it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI like to make patterns in photoshop and usually my only way of doing this is by making an image, then transforming it down 50% and left 50% (So it takes up 1/4th the image) then pasting the image to fill up the other 3 quadrants. After doing this I can see the seams that would normally be at the edge of my pattern, then I can edit them out. This gets more and more time consuming as my patterns get more complicated.
I was wondering if there is any way to change the brush tool so that if I draw over the edge of the canvas, the brush will automatically send those pixels to the opposide side. Sort of like in old NES games where you could run off the edge of a level and reappear on the other side of it. Or you could stand on the edge of the level and mario would be half on the left and half on the right. Does anyone know what im referring to?
I try to erase part of a layer, it won't have an effect when the eraser is switched to brush or pencil. But it does work fine when set to block.
However, -and here's the strange thing- when the eraser is set to brush and the erase isn't working, if I go at the layer crazily, constantly clicking at the layer, eventually the eraser does work! Every single click is registered in the history window, but the actual action of erasing only actually happens sparsely after random clicking. And it seems to be completely random as well. It doesn't seem to depend on where I click, or the frequency of clicks or even the time after the first click.

It appears that the mask is not affecting some pixels of the area I'm trying to adjust. The photo was taken inside a cathedral in Vienna where the lighting wasn't great so I used an ISO of 3200 on my Nikon D7000 camera. I made noise reduction adjustments before attempting to use the Adjustment Brush. A portion of the image is shown below. I have had the same problem with other photos when using the Adjustment Brush.
