View 14 Replies View RelatedI've made a pattern brush that I'm using to simulate a woods line for a boardgame map:
Â
Shown above is the unstroked bounding box as well. To use this brush, I draw an outline of a woods mass with the pencil tool, then apply the brush and Expand Appearance. At that point I'm hoping the brush sections will join into one closed path so that I can fill it with a woodsy green, but instead the fill gets applied to each section of brush independently:
The join points seem fine - it's not like the two ends of the brush don't line up at all: EDIT - Actually, that's not just one point in the middle there - that's the ends of both paths lying almost on top of each other. It's possible to separate the two and then ctrl-J join them. Problem is, I want that single path automatically. Â
Â
So how to get Illustrator to treat the resulting path as one closed path instead of a compound path?
I am attempting to build a facsimilie enigma machine, I would like to know how best to create an effect so that when a key is pressed a corresponding letter appears to light up. Btw I am not looking for an animated image, I can take care of the transitions between on and off, I just need to create the two image states.

I just saw a concert on television (A-Ha in Norway). The stage was bathed in blue and there were these very intense green stage lights with 6 point light effects to the (I'm not sure what you call them, but they are like you see on Christmas cards or when using certain camera filters.)
How can I create this effect in PS?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to replicate the attached effect and am wondering the best way to go about doing so. I need to make mocks of a Facebook game for this company so it should be a close as possible. Particularly, I need to generate the blurry circles and grainy-ish effect that is primarily seen on the orange background where the nav bars lies. I could, of course go circle by circle, but I feel like I've seen a filter to create these circles before.

View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to do an animation effect. Its pretty common but I dont what its called. A 'light' or lights that travel down a line, straight or curved in one or both directions. Kinda like an old movie house marquee. In this example image, the red light moves to the right and reverses at the end of the line and goes the other way. I dont know if this makes a difference but the image I want to create may include use of the vanishing point tool.

I can see the shadows and I was able to do that.. kind of.. but how about the light on the wrapper? I've been using bevel and emboss and tried 360 degree of light direction and it doesn't look like that at all...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there are many ways to create light beams or God beams. There are several tutorials and net has many brushes.I just want to make a simple tapered brush in Photoshop CS6 so that If I click at a source like window then shift click at another place I get a 'tapered' beam, smaller at origin and flaring to larger size, like a flashlight beam
it should be easy with shape dynamics and all, but I am not able to figure this out.
Win 7 OS. I am trying to use the light effect filter and when I select it photoshop gets locked up and won't respond until I end task in task manager (it says photoshop not responding in task manager). Is there a fix for this? I did all of my updates and it still happens.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve seen a lot of this type of graphics pop up everywhere for sometime now. And i know from the animated clips that a lot of it is done in 3d. But if i were to create it in PS as a still frame, how do you go about making it look the way it does? I can imagine you could do it by creating lines and making copies of it and varying each a little bit, add some color overlays etc etc. And then there is the motion blur effect theyve got on it. Not sure how to go about that, but overall that looks like a lot of hard manual labour.

I want to add realistic stage lights without the corney lensflare effect. The lights would be added to appear as if the camera is looking right into them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently undertaking a project creating A1 posters displaying numerous archive pictures from of where I work.
I have got the poster design etc sorted and all is going well.
To each archive pic I'm using I am adding a small off-white border much as a lot of old photo's have. The method I have been using to do this is simple. I have created a large document with my off-white paper texture covering the whole area, using this document I perform the following steps
1) drag archive pic into my off-white document
2) create a selection slightly bigger all round than the pic
3) copy the background and paste it to a new layer
4) link the new layer to the pic layer
5) merge the linked layers and rename resulting layer suitably.
This technique works perfectly for what I want though is somewhat time consuming. As such I have created an action so all I have to do is drag each archive pic into my document and run the action.
This is where I am having a bit of a problem. as each archive pic is a different size I needed to think of an automated way to make the selection I desired. To do this I used the following steps in the action:
1) using the magic wand, select the transparent area of the archive pic layer, thus selecting everything except the pic
2) invert the selection so the pic is selected
3) expand the selection by 16 pixels
4) repeated step 3 (this is due to the size of the pics I'm using.
This works ok, but I want sharp corners, but when using the expand selection tool, the corners become rounded off, can anyone think of a way around this?
At the end of the day I can use the action very quickly put a border round each pic and then I'll just have to either crop them so the corners are sharp or something, which won't take too long, but it would be nice to not have to do this.
I am having problems with one of FX effects in corel video studio x3. When I select 'stationary' on the tick box and play back the video, the light still pans around the screen regardless of 'stationary' being selected or not.

how I could achieve the effect in the attached image?
I.e. I have a blueprint drawing (dark background with thin white lines) and I want to add an effect as if the white lines were slits that light was shining through.
Is there a method or a filter I can use to reduce the speckled effect of video amplifier noise?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have an effect that creates a light bulb, light glow around its surrounding area.
It also had the option to select light color , adjust the light angles and light rays radius. ( I think the transparency too)
When using the adjustments brush to locally increase exposure(for example) it seems that not all pixels are covered. In the red display of the selected zone you can see black spots all over the zone that are not selected even after repeated use of the adjustment brush. The result looks like heavy noise and is pretty bad. I must say it gives the impression that it happens with "low light" pictures only!? Windows/XP3, Lightroom2.2

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to assign a motion path to the light rays effect on one of my layers but i can't seem to find a way to do it and google has turned up nothing. the problem is the effect needs to be on a certain layer in order to make the effect look right but i don't want the layer to move i only want to affect the centre point of the effect. i can assign key frames and animate it to move in straight lines but i need it to move in a curve and there seems to be no way to alter the motion path or assign it to one on a null layer.
