Photoshop :: Finer Shade Of Grey

Apr 24, 2005

Open a new doc in Greyscale mode, and use your Color palette in RGB Spectrum to select your hue of grey/colour. And to get a finer shade of grey/colour within the hue of grey/colour you're working with, click on the little arrow (top right of Color palette) and open up the drop down menu and select Current Color. This will give you a finer palette of grey/colour saturation to work with.

Photoshop :: Superimposing A Face (the Finer Aspects)

Jul 2, 2006

I'm going to be editing a series of images, cut from a movie, to make an animated gif. I'll be superimposing the face of one man onto that of another in each individual frame.

I know my way around photoshop (layers, brushes, effects, etc.), and I'm using CS2.

During some frames I will need to awkardly stretch the image of the superimposed face (Connery's) to fit that of the original actor's (Martin Sheen's) -- the frames in which his head is turned to the his right, as can be seen in the image below. There are also frames where the lighting on his face changes and smoke pours over his face. These are my main challenges.

I could use help with the lighting effects (casting shadows over a layer), the military style face paint, and the smoke effects, as well as general guides to photoshop face-transplanting

If a plugin is needed to do any of these, by all means recommend it and any associated tutorials; money is not an issue.

Here are a few sample frames taken that show each stage of the scene (it's the famous head-rising-from-water scene from Apoclaypse Now).

For the face to be superimposed, I will use a source image like these. The lighting is failry uniform, so these should be ripe images for shadow effects (I would like to cast a shadow over the right-hand portion of Connery's face, just as Martin Sheen's is in the movie):

Photoshop :: Altering Colors To One Shade

Jul 29, 2009

Say I have a cartoon-like image of a face, outlined in black, and filled in with a background color. The image was saved as a .jpg so it got anti-aliased and the black outline & background instead of being 2 shades (one for the background, one for the outline) became many shades. Aside from the painstakingly long process of erasing all background pixels and replacing it, yet again with all the same shade, is there another, perferably easier and faster method of doing this.

Photoshop :: How Do I Make Shade And Lighting

Jul 31, 2005

Suppose I've got a blob of uniform color. I want to make it pop out a little 3D. How do I make shade on one side in a curved manner (that is, it gets gradually darker as you move from the interior of the blob to the edge). Also, how do I add light in the same manner or as a condensed reflective/glittering spot. I also have some circles I'd like to make into spheres with a similar technique. How do you make spheres out of circles in regards to shading and light?

Photoshop :: Tool Color - Each Option Changes Burn Shade Slightly?

Sep 4, 2012

With the burn tool one can use it several ways.  The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows.  Each option changes the burn shade slightly.  Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.

One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects.  Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.

All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture.  It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors.  In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper.  But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.

So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?

AutoCAD Inventor :: DWG Not Plotting Shade View From It?

Mar 25, 2013

What it boils down to is that I'm the only inventor seat and need to use dwg for layouts in my work environment so that others can edit notes and print if needed.  We also always plot to pdf and then print hardcopies as necessary.

Many of our drawings require ISO/axon/perspective views of models, and almost always shaded views.  I can plot from inventor without issue, but when I plot from autocad, the shaded views plot only partially shaded with the rest wireframe or completely wireframe.  I attached a pdf example.  The view on the left should appear shaded the same as the views to the right.

I've adjusted every print setting I can think of, set shaded views to offline only for using bitmap, and tried low, mid and higher resolutions for the bitmap dpi setting.

We have product design suite 2013 and I'm on a windows 7 x64 machine.

GIMP :: How To Shade One Edge To From Red To Purple To Indigo

Jun 4, 2011

Say you have a irregular object that is in shades of red and you want to shade one one edge to from red to purple to indigo. You select specific red pixels and replace them with blues. You brush in the amount, area, and shape that you want to change without changing and other colours. You then select another shade of red pixel and used a darker shade of blue and brush over part of the area that you have already done to darken it. You repeat as necessary to get the effect you want.

I have tried masking and color select but the edges are too defined and not giving the effect that I want. Most of my less powerful graphics programs have this tool but unfortunately they can no longer handle the graphics I am working with.
