Illustrator :: Don't Want A Shade Of Current Color
May 22, 2013I don't want a shade of the current color. I need a totally different color.

View 2 RepliesI would like to change the gradient on the attached to a darker yellow. How do I complete this change in color? I see that I can click on Color and an eyedropper appears but that doesn't get me to the existing colors so that I can change to bit darker yellow.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen 4-color process printing (CMYK), how might one remove the black plate from the process, but maintain the same "shade", or very close to, of all process colors?
Top swatch is the original. Bottom is the closes I could get while keeping Black at 0%.
I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
I'd like to create a script that checks the current document's color profile and checks it against a string, for example "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". My studio has a script that performs various functions to make sure that all the layers are visible/unlocked, checks for stray points, etc., and we'd like to add a check to the color profile because we handle a large number of files and this setting is overlooked a lot.
It's alright if this value isn't writable through script (we can just pop up an alert letting the user know that they need to change it), but I can't find where to actually read this setting! We're currently working on Macs and with JavaScript, but any nudge in the right direction.
parrot green shade of cmyk or rgb or any pantone shade.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the following error message:
"Your current color settings discard CMYK profiles in linked content but profiles were set to be honored when this document was created."
every time I open an Illustrator document. How this setting was set and how to turn it off. I am just using the standard N America Prepress color setting in Bridge.
I have tried opening new documents using the supplied Ai CS4 new document profiles, no luck. So I am assuming it's a pref that is set in the app itself, yet how to change this setting? I don't even see anything referring to a setting like this.
I found this archived discussion: [URL] .... which had no resolution.
With the burn tool one can use it several ways. The direct way is to just click on the tool and select whether you want highlights, mid-tones, or shadows. Each option changes the burn shade slightly. Also there are a host of blend modes which again changes the burn shade.
One can also create a burn layer and change blend modes, all with different effects. Then you can also use the brush tool and select color burn or color dodge, with the foreground color changing the shade of the burn.So all of these options give a great deal of control, but frankly I am just burned out on the process.
All I want is to have the burn deepen the color to more closely match the color in the shadows of the picture. It seems to work better on flesh and soft colors than on bright colors. In those cases I give up and resort to a brush in normal mode with color selected by eyedropper. But that can make the image more muddy as it covers up rather than intensify.
So wilh all the man-years of experience out there is there a more simple way to get the correct burn shade than going though 49 different variations? Or should I just stick with the brush and use a different blend mode?
I would like to be able to shade certain rooms on a floor plan but still be able to read the text underneath.
Just a pale pastel shade on say the bathroom would be grand.
This is a recent phenomonom, the shade of objects changes depending on their vertical position on the artboard. If I move an object from the top of the artboard to the bottom it becomes lighter, and these changes remain even after it is saved as a png- this is driving me crazy!!! it is very slight, but still enough to cause a headache. If you look at this image you can see that the top blue box is slightly darker than the blue box at the bottom, event though this is the exact same box copied and pasted down the artboard.

I don't think it's document-specific, but just to leave nothing to chance, if you want to try to reproduce it, you can download a copy of the file: [URL] ......
I do not recall making any changes to current settings and I'm not even sure how to do that.All my new detail lines are green. I have to change them back to black using overides.
Does this signify something? How do I change the current color back to black?
I'm importing several hundred .png files to be played back as a gif and get this window popup several hundred times:
How do i go about disabling the message? it gets tedious "okaying" after just a few.
I'm trying to get a script to use a fill foreground I've selected. I can get it ask me to select the foreground color but it always saves the foreground color used when I save the script. I can't figure out how to get it to use the current foreground color.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen calling the Camera.SaveAsBitmap method and specifying a background color, should it reset the background color of the current view? Calling it in 2014 does this.
Also is there a way to apply the camera settings without changing the current view? I want to change the camera settings but just save the images to a file?

I installed LR5 from LR4 yesterday and each time I open an image in CS5 from my LR5, I get the following message:
The document "IMG_9082.CR2"has an embedded color profile that does not match the current RGB working space.
Embedded: Adobe RGB (1998)
Working sRGB IEC61966-2.1
What would you like to do?
-Use the embedded profiel (instead of the working space)
-Convert documents's colors to the working space
-Discard the embedded profile (don't color manage)
My camera's settings have it set with sRGB, LR4 and LR5 have sRGB and I have CS5 workspace as sRGB. This did not happen before.
Is it possible that when LR5 updated the LR4 catalogue, it changed the profile of all my photos? I don't know, maybe I've done something, but I can't see what as I don't remember changing anything.
how can i know if the current view/display is align with the current ucs?
let's say i have rotate the ucs about z axis 45 degrees and make it plan now i draw some things and then i change back to world
worlducs = 1
viewdir = 0,0,1
ucsxdir = 1,0,0
ucsydir = 0,1,0
but the display is still in the ucs z 45 (ucsfollow = 0) set the view to PLAN current (now the view is aligned) but the system vars does not change.
For a plan UCS, you would need to compare the VIEWDIR system variable and the cross product of the UCSXDIR and UCSYDIR system varaibles.

Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTechnique that can check the current plotter name for the current tab and assign it to a variable? i.e. can it be assigned to a variable to check if if equals "myplotter1". The next step - is there a technique to change the plotter name to "myplotter2.pc3".
I have partially done the latter part of this in the past using the -plot command line to ASSIGN a new plotter but I would really like to only run the routine if it really needs to.
I have 1 Next button that is used on the timeline. Each position has a pause then a play so there is only 1 button. I need to get the label info so I know where I am so I can save the location of the timeline that the user was at if they exited before they finished the process.

We have survey files that we xref into our design files. In the survey files themselves, the points don't change color. When we xref them in, the point markers (only the circular node on the actual point, not the line coming off of it) take on the color of whatever the current layer is in the drawing, only fixable by changing the current letter and regenerating.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been unsuccessful in locating the Adobe Illustrator Preferences file on my computer. I am working my way through the lessons in Classroom In a Book for Illustrator, and you are asked to delete the current preferences prior to starting each lesson (this ensures the panels, etc, work in accordance with the text). I use a Mac with Lion as my operating system and, as instructed, went to my Library folder to find the "Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings/en_US" file, yet it is nowhere to be found. I have saved files (which should result in the creation of a preference file) and closed and re-opened Illustrator. Nothing seems to be working and/or produce the preference file.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm working on building an action in Illustrator CS5 that will do the following..Delete the layer "original artwork"Select AllCreate OutlinesSave as PDF "content.pdf" to the current working folder with specific settings in the Save PDF prompt..Up to step 4 this is pretty simple, but so far when trying to record the saving step it insists on using the directory that I'm building the action in - not the relative one based on where the current file is opened. Also, unlike the 'Save For Web JPEG' default Illustrator action, the PDF saving step doesn't retain any of the specific settings within the action.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow do I center my current selection to the artboard? just like hitting the "horizontal align-center" and "vertical align-center" buttons. I've been searching for the last two hours and before my head hits the keyboard.
What I'm struggling with: in my init function i create a new document and then copy all layers from the previous document step by step to the new document and then save it as SVG.
// Init
(function(){
destination = Folder.selectDialog('Select folder for SVG files.', docPath);
if (!destination){return;}
holderDoc = app.documents.add();
stepThroughAndExportLayers(docRef.layers);
}());
my problem is that holderDoc = app.documents.add(); always creates a document that is not the same size as my initial document where the layers get copied from.
so I want the exact same artboard size as in my initial document.I'm fine with either doing it as fixed values or taking directly the values of the inital doc. i tried this in the segment where I create the new document:
// Init
(function(){
destination = Folder.selectDialog('Select folder for SVG files.', docPath);
if (!destination){return;}
holderDoc = app.documents.add();
holderDoc.artboards[0].artboardRect = [0,0,128,128];
stepThroughAndExportLayers(docRef.layers);
}());
and get this error message: "Error 1200: an Illustrator error occured: 1346458189 ('PARM')
Line: 83
-> holderDoc.artboards[0].artboardRect = [0,0,128,128];"
which from what I've read on the web means that illustrator doesnt know what document to pick. but i have called it directly. I do not want to fit the artboard to the images/layer. the artboard should always have a certain size. (for me 128px by 128px)
// edit: workaround
(function(){
destination = Folder.selectDialog('Select folder for SVG files.', docPath);
if (!destination){return;}
var activeArtboard = app.activeDocument.artboards[app.activeDocument.artboards.getActiveAr tboardIndex()];
var ABRect = activeArtboard.artboardRect;
holderDoc = app.documents.add();
holderDoc.artboards.add(ABRect);
holderDoc.artboards.remove(0);
holderDoc.artboards.setActiveArtboardIndex(0);
//stepThroughAndExportLayers(docRef.layers);
}());
i now added a new artboard to the new document with the same size as the artboard on the initial document.i remove the predefined artboard on the new doc and set the new artboard as active the artboard is now not centered into the window. which lets illustrator place my image with ctrl+c -> ctrl+v somewhere outside the artboard.
i now need to align my selection to the center of the artboard. but i cant find any reference on how to center a selection to the artboard.
Im playing around with the 'recolor artwork' tool but cannot seem to find the colour group for my existing image [URL] ....
I thought there might have been a feature where cs6 lists the colours in the 'current colours' drop down list.
Yellow, pink and blue are the ones that have automatically appeared but i cant see my current colour group.
I vectorized this image from a jpeg and saved the vector as a PNG, then reopened it.
How to make a duplicate copy of current document?
so that i can do the modification with duplicate document without changing the status of original document.
A thread exists from 2011 that is now closed with a reply from "adobe" saying they are working on providing updated dialogue boxes. [URL] ...
The reply from Adobe stated that they have to support legacy operating systems, which I'm pretty sure is handled by the installer, so it's a sad excuse.One could simply say "if XP" load this dialogue hook, if win 7 use this hook.
What is the status of this lack of effort?
We waste more time trying to save a file with this old school dialogue than is required.
With an object selected and the Selection tool active, I press Return to get the Move dialog box.
For some reason, there seem to be random values entered in the Horizontal and Vertical fields. Instead, I just want the boxes to always start at 0 so that I can decide where it moves, instead of having to clear these fields manually.
how to get this box to behave as I want it to?
