I have trouble saving changes I make to photos in Elements 9. When I try to Save or Save As, it says the photo is 'editing in progress,' even though I am finished with the changes. How do I save the changes?
View 1 RepliesI have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use Lightroom 4 to start my workflow on a MacBook laptop. I export my RAW image as a PSD file, then open the PSD in PSE 10. When I'm done working on the PSD file I want to save it as a JPG. But I can't find the JPG option in the Save As dialog box. This is my normal workflow using LR4 and PSCS6 on my desktop PC. So why can't I find the JPG option in the Save As dialog box in PSE10?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop Elements I created a banner, 900 x 200 pixels, for a website. I used a few layers, one for text, one for graphics and background. In Elements everything is crystal clear, but when I import it to the website it seems to be a bit out of focus, a little blurry. In Elements I saved the file with ‘save for web’ with the quality at 100%, the resolution at 72 DPI. How do I make the finished image on the site as clear as in Elements?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am able to edit a photo in Elements 12 but if it is a raw photo it opens in camera raw. On these .nef files, when I save them, (comand-S) it still brings up the save as box. If I click file-save, same thing. I can not get these particular pictures to save over to my aperture library, which is still in the iphoto library if that matters.
I do have PSE Preferences as Save over current file, always save, file extension use lower case, (save as to Original Folder is checked as well.) When I edit from a jpeg in aperture, it seems to work fine, it is just the .nef files which is what most of my files are.
In Aperture my preferences are External editor, Photoshop Elements 12, Tiff 8 (I have tried PSD as well) and Adobe RGB Color. It seems like this worked in Elements 11, but maybe I hadn't tried a raw file, so I am not sure.Also, is Tiff 8 the best or is PSD better. Do they both save as layers?
I have used the raw converter to tweek my photos. I want to save file in Jpg format.Elements asks me what size I want to save: Low, Medium, large, or maximum.
I will use the Jpg files for printing either 4 x 6 or 8 x 10.What dictates the file size to use?
I understand how each time you save a JPG file, there is a loss of information (assuming you closed between Saves) even if you Save with Quality=12. However can you do the following to avoid losing information between saves?
- save as both a JPG and a PSD
- if you want to make another change, open the PSD (instead of the JPG) and make the desired mods
- save as both a JPG and a PSD again
I believe the resulting JPG has basically been updated only once, as opposed to twice if you had made the second set of mods by opening the JPG from the first set of mods. You could continue to do this as many times as you wanted, and the last JPG created would technically have only been updated once (always from the latest PSD), thereby avoiding loss of information from multiple saves.
Why do I not have the option to save a PSD file as a JPEG?

View 17 Replies View RelatedFor no apparent reason my PSE 11 application seems to have developed an annoying glitch whereby part way through an editing process it stops doing as requested in the "Save" options, by not saving edited files as version sets of the original file in the Organiser. The files are saved OK to My Pictures and I then get advised that a file is available to import and I have to import each one, stack it with the original, and put the edited file on top. This is driving me nuts as I have about 1000 photos to edit. My only thoughts are that I have c.30000 picture files in the Organiser (but this hasn't caused any problems in adding new files) and that the problem seems to have arisen since I started editing files directly from within an Album.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter being able to complete several Photomerge Group Shot projects before, the program is no longer saving them. It allows me to open all photos (I've tried merging group shots from 2 pictures to 5 pictures in an effort to find the error) and to go through all the motions but when I click 'Done' nothing happens. No error. No lag. One of my open files just sits there untouched.
I read somewhere that I should delete my preferences, but I haven't made any changes. This is the only feature I've ever even used on my new Elements program.
I tried opening the program under my husband's user name (new settings / preferences), but the same thing occurs. It just doesn't save - even when the computer has just been booted up and I'm only trying to merge two photos.
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 530S running WinXP 32-bit SP3 with 2GB RAM. I just clean installed WinXP and all windows updates. The only programs I have installed are Office and PSE10.
I just got Lightroom as a Christmas gift that is incompatible with this computer. If this is a RAM issue...or if I should upgrade to 64-bit...what should my minimum system requirements be to optimally run both Elements and Lightroom?
