I installed an action in my PSE 10 It did not work and kept layer styles and photo effects from showing up. I deleted the action--still not showing up so I reset my computer to a time prior to the installation--still no styles or effects.

I'm using PSE 7 and up until now has been working fine for as long as I've had it. What should I do to get them back or do I have to reload the entire program?

Here is some POF: proof of concept, as it were, from one of my recent projects. I's not a final result, I can't post it here. But it's just some quick way to illustrate the way to use Layer Styles somewhat creatively.
Here blood is supposed to be gathering volume and welling as it streaks down. It's all about Layer Styles:
As you can see blood stain is inside the Smart Object. One instance is placed under and another one is put above. The one above is added Layer Styles namely Bevel, Shadows and other ones, but with the gradient mask applied.
This way Layer Styles change there effect smoothly, according to layer mask: Bevel grows it's depth downwards, etc. And the Blood stain itself stays editable as a Smart Object. It can be tweaked any way you like. The same goes for Layer Styles options and the mask. Levels on mask can be used to fine tune the final view.
The bar that allows me to choose a style in lighting effects is highlighted, yet there is no text in it and it wont allow me to open it and choose any style. A week ago I used this to choose a 3 down effect but now its not letting me. Ive tried using several different photos of different types (RGB, Grayscale)(PSD, JPG, AI) and still dosent open the option bar.

Or do I actually need to manually select each button and apply the new style?

Using Photoshop Elements 6 on Mac with Lion 10.7. As with other users, I am unable to load styles downloaded from net (asl files). Shapes, brushes, and patterns load just fine. Have tried placing them in styles folder in presets (that didn't work) and library application folder for styles (that didn't work). Have tried removing preferences file for styles from preferences folder and doing both of the above (didn't work).
Does Photoshop Elements 10 limit the number of styles that can be installed at one time? I can't seem to load in any more than I already have. If so, how to I have access to others? There doesn't seem to be a place where I can load new styles like you can with brushes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do update the styles library to keep from getting the Styles Conflict error box. I have used the Standard.dwg file that loaded with Inventor 2012 but everytime I change styles and save the changes in a new template in reverts back to the library definitions.
I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.
We've created a new parts list style for a border.When the border tempalt file is on the c: drive...everything works hunky dory...parts list, revision tables, etc.But as soon as we copy and paste that border into the template library folder for new drgs...the parts list style is missing from the local styles?
So to make it appear on the new document...the style manager has to be set at all styles and the new parts list style has to be saved to the document?What aren't we doing to make it appear on the template?
Also note that because the drawing border template is in a template folder as part of the design projects...it is NOT editable...so it has to be edited outside the template folder.
I just installed PSE9 from the box and it has no effects in the bar and I read some posts about databases in /applicationsupport/adobe but all I have in that adobe folder is presets. How do I get my effects?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a collaborative process that involves taking a .dxf from autocad and editing it graphically in illustrator. The .dxf file needs to be updated periodically and we have a system where we update the .dxf, open it in illustrator (CS6) and then copy/paste the updated elements into the graphic document in progress. When pasted, the new paths sometimes retain attributes (like stroke color) from the .dxf file, beneath the graphic style attributes of the layer the new work was pasted into.
Is there a way to force the graphic style of the layer being pasted into to override any original attributes from the copied file?
the project I am working on is using a default.css and I would like to assign styles from the file to elements in edge - how can I do that?I already tried the "class" setting in the GUI next an element but the elements do not use the styles defined in the default.css.The default.css is linked in the html file properly. In the js file which edge creates I see that the value userClass: 'slideTitle' is assigned and slideTitle is defined in the default.css.

Specifically, we want to put a frame border around the edges of a photo, but the choices of frames don't show up for one user, but they do for the other (who has computer administrator privileges). I've never had it crash on me before or anything, but for some reason I can't view any of the effects in the right panel. They seem to be missing. I have reset the panels, checked to make sure everything is set to veiw and I even ran updates. But nothing has fixed the issue. I've used the program very recently and all the effects were viewable before, its just today that it seems this problem has occured.
