I am using PSE 6 for mac over a network and under the local user the shadow effects show up under the Effects-> Layer Styles menu, but when I log in over the network those effects don't show up. How do I get those Shadow options to show?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried so many different designs for a medieval type logo I am going for as a part of defining a Minecraft community server called Reach.
I am looking for a 3D logo with shadow/lighting effects, the word "Reach" or "REACH" inside of a 3d border, as the server name is Reach, and behind that there should be a 3D shield with 2 swords behind the shield like the image of a shield and 2 swords I have attached to this post. The shield should also be square and bulky. I have also included my other 2 attempts at a logo in the attachments.
The background, in my opinion, should be transparent so that the logo is just the contents previously explained.
Drop shadow behavior has changed recently, maybe between 12.0 and 12.1 update.
Since ever, drop shadow has been applied before transforms, causing us to compensate shadow angle when rotating layer at the same time. Now it seems that we don't need to compensate anymore, as if shadow angle was applied after transforms.
This is definitely a handy update, but is there a way to reverse this behavior to the old one, for compatibility purpose ?
I'm looking for a better alternative to my current vector graphic applications, mostly to create modern web and application UI's.So I downloaded the trial version of Illustrator CC, to see if I should make the jump to Illustrator for vector work.
After using about half a day to learn the applicaiton and do some experimentation, I was going to apply an Inner shadow to some text on a button, to make it look indented, and was like "What the.....where's the Inner Shadow Effect?".I could see the Drop Shadow feature, and there's an Inner Glow feature (can't be offset), but that doesn't solve the problem of making shapes and text look indented.
just browse 'Inner Shadow' on Google, it's such a fundamental feature.Photoshop has it.InDesign has it.Fireworks has it.Even Sketch, the app for Mac has it. And Acorn has it as well.Hell, I can even write it in CSS3:

So I looked around the web, and realized Illustrator has no Inner Shadow feature (!!), but there are work arounds. Here's an example: URL...
but when you are used to applying something so fundamental as Inner Shadow, to make your shapes and texts look indented with a single click (and easily adjust it live and experiment), then it's hard to get used to Illustrator.
I have applied two different wiggle effects at different times (scale & position) to a 3D text layer, but find that the shadow cast on a background solid does not move in concert with the text. Wiggling Text--Static Shadow.

I created a light and a white solid. I oriented the white solid to the plane of the footage and positioned the light such that I see the shadow cast on the white solid layer. However, I can still see the white solid (obviously, I only want to see the shadow) If I change the white solid layer settings to "Accept Shadows" from "On" to "Only" the shadow disappears along with the opacity of the solid.
I'm using the Ray-traced 3D renderer.
I have PSE11 and purchased Paint the Moon effects. How can I view both the Layers panel and the Effects panel at the same time? Was this an option in older versions of PSE that are used in the Paint the Moon tutorials?

When I go to the filter-->render menu, it is not there. I have gone into the edit-->preferences-->perfomance menu and selected Use Graphics Processor, however the lighting effects filter is still not present. what I need to do to get the filter?

I have a ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 560v for my Dell laptop running Windows 7 64bit. I have checked both through Dell and the ATI page and I have the latest drivers but Lighting Effects don't work properly. So now what?
I tried messing with the Preferences for Performance based on other posts. No luck. When I go to View>Extras>Show All I do then see the controls, however, the program freezes then crashes every time.
do I have to go back to CS4 to do all my lighting effects?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having the greatest dificulty adding a shadow eccect to my photo, the tutorial is nothing like the software I am using, I have made the layers the back ground then croped my immage made i wanted to place on the background but when I try and use the Shadow drop down feature the bos when i hit control T is not controling the shadow but a copy of the image i want the to be shadowed withthe shadow, I am only guessing at this point but I think what I need to do is have a layer that has the shadow only but I am at odds on how to do It! I have found a tutoral video on line but the software is nothing like what I have I am in trial but at this point I am quite agervated and may soon deside on another photo editing software. the effect i am trying to accomplish is place a dino at the lake with my grandson in it he loves dino dan and wanted to create a pic for him!

But when I go to Layer Style and try to get to Style Settings, Style Settings is greyed out. (The text in quesiton is already selected.)
In fact, I've tried everything possible to get Style Settings to become engaged and have not been able to do that.
Also, when I go into Effects and try to add cool effect (torn paper, glowing edges, etc.) to the text, it automatically changes the color of my text. For example, my text is orange and when I tried "glowing edges" it changed the text to olive drab... and it certainly didn't glow.
I'm using elements 11. I'm trying to separate shadow into a new layer to work it. When I copy and past layer style into new layer, FX icon appears next to new layer, but no shadow. My settings are visable. I can see the shadow in the original image, just can't separate it into new layer. It seems like I'm missing something simple. Is this possible in Elements 11?

But I can't figure out how to disengage this effect. I started using the clone stamp tool after I was done with drop shadow, and now all of my clone stamps have drop shadows!
I don't want no more drop shadow. How do I get it to stop? I've looked and looked and don't see anything obvious.
I have PSE7. I would like to know how I can add a drop shadow to an image in between the image and the color block.

I'm really disappointed that transition effects and other stuff from X2 content pack are not included in x4 ultimate, and I cant find any content pack for x4 on corel website, is there any?
Can I use transition effects from X2 in X4? I hate to have to use X2 after paying for X4 Ultimate just for transition effects
I have created a short 4 second comp and it all plays back fine until I actually try to render it. I've tried rendering the layer on it's own in a seperate comp and it disappears then as well and just becomes a white screen, but the original one when put into a comp works fine. I've spent hours editing it and putting it in place so i really don't want to start again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAE crashed during the rendering process, a window came out and asked if I would save the file, I did but unfortunately I did not turn it into a new project. After all, AE shutted down.
Then there I was trying to open my project which was saved, although it turns out to be an error which said "missing data in file"
I tried to google it and I looked into like 20 forum pages, I tried putting the project on a new disk and importing instead of opening and stuff.Well I at least learned I should backup the project next time.
But still wondering if there's a way to save my project?
Btw, what does it mean by pressing capslock when importing the project?
I created a .png file from our organization logo. I used the magic wand to select and "delete" the backgound, leaving it transparent. However, when placed on our web site, the logo edges have a slight line. What must I do to not have the lines (to make the background truly transparent)?

Unfortunately i overwrote my only existing file.Now i can't open it any more, i always get the error message displayed above. Anyway, im surprised by the fact that the file still has the same size as before, so there has to be the same data in the file, hasn't it?
I also tried the capslock method and the importing method, non of them worked.At the capslock method AE only imported one audio file, but not a single composition. How to restore it?

I finally downloaded Designer Pro 9 and installed the 64-bit version and, to my horror, realized it does not support Photoshop plugins. So I uninstalled the 64-bit version and installed the 32-bit version.
But now I find that the live-effects tool seems to be missing from the 32-bit version too!
I had thought the 64-bit version might be a bit more stable, but the old one was pretty stable. So now I'm wondering if I should plunk down money for the new version.
I'm pretty happy with the previous version, which oddly enough is called Xara Designer Pro X (go figure). So I'm going to ask for a possibly politically incorrect and certainly unvarnished opinion: How much of an improvement is the new version over the old?
I use it mostly for making graphics for websites or for making posters, leaflets, and such. I do not use it for website design.
