View 5 RepliesWe're looking into the "Workflow" system in Map3d.One of our most common tasks is to Set the coordinate system and then add a georeferenced image (such as a SID file).
I'd like to create a workflow that will do this -- but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get it to set the coordinate system. I will eventually need to tell the image what coordinate system to use (we normally have to edit that manually).
Here's what I have:
250 GB Internal Hard-Disk (with Lightroom catalog on it)
60 GB Internal SSD-Disk (with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 on it)
2 TB External Hard-Disk (place where I try make my backup to)
There is only appox. 6 GB free space on system disk (SSD). When I start to make catalog backup to External 2 TB disk, it makes it long time (copying files to External disk), then after a while Lightroom starts to "Optimizing catalog". And during this optimizing, Lightroom starts to eat disk space on the system disk (SSD). More and more, and then finally it show me the message "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named "XXXXX". Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive."
The problem is that I actually HAVE free space on 250 GB disk (where catalog is located) and on External 2 TB (where is backup destination).Lightroom says NOTHING about the fact that he needs lots of free space on SYSTEM disk. But it actually eats it.And what I want to ask, whether it is possible to make Lightroom use space on another disk, not on system?
I use CS PS6, but installed PS Elements & Premiere Elements for a friend. Now I have a whole raft of fonts that I don't want, & don't need, Arabic, Korean, Hebrew and who knows what else. I can't delete them, "Protected system files" the warning says. And there are others, like ADMUI2LG Regular, are those needed for functionality? No Koreans or Arabs are ever going to use this machine, unless it's stolen perhaps, and I'm not being racist, I just want to cut the cr*p. If I use File Assassin to delete them will CS 6 stop working? Or will Big Brother System just recreate them?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe issue comes at random; upon starting PS CS6 (32-bit or 64-bit) it won't be able to open ANY files, of ANY file type (.psd, .jpg, .png, etc.)If by some miracle it DOES open a file, it won't be able to edit it; i.e. upon drawing a line with the brush tool, PS will delete the line when you lift off the mouse.
Things I've tried or tested include making sure the file wasn't read only, making sure it was a valid file, and deleting the preferences.I never have this problem on the school computers (all our school computers are late-model iMacs), but I've had this problem on two seperate Windows 7 64-Bit PCs.
The only way to fix it is to do a complete system reboot; even now though I've done three reboots & it still won't work anymore. My system specs for my desktop are:
Intel Core i7 960 (3.2GHz, 8MB Cache)
nVidia GeForce GTX 680
12GB Triple Channel 1333MHz DDR3
Windows 7 64-Bit Basic
What is the best procedure for moving catalog and files from a Vista system with PSE9 to a windows 8 system running PSE 11? Will copy and restore be less problematic than Easy transfer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen using gimp a while, but today gimp refused to open my file system. Apart from my most recently used folder, the entire file system was greyed out. In fact the 'open' and 'open as layers' dialogues became non-responsive.

I have already restarted and re-installed, and updated to most recent from 2.8.2.
If you create any custom coordinate systems in 2014 products (Civil3D, Map3D) *.CSD files are created in C:Users{user_name}AppDataLocalAutodeskUser Geospatial Coordinate Systems with the additional data in them.
My question is - can you have multiple 'coordsys.csd' files?
The reason for asking is that we are setting up a large number of low distortion projections that are specified by a government roading agency and I figure the best way to distribute these is to create a coordsys.csd with them and sync it out to everyones profile (the location shown above), but there could then be issues if a user then sets up some additional coordinate systems that will only be on their computer, if we altered or expanded the company definitions and sync'd these out again it would overwrite the users ones.
It would be good to be able to have mutilple custom coordinate system files - ones for particular clients, countries, individual users etc.

I have been trying to import LAS files via Civil 3D 2011.
To do this I first turn the workspace to ''Tool based geospatial''. Then i assign a global coordinate system which is the same one as the LAS file i am importing. The in the task pane window (command: mapwspace) under display manager tab i right click on map base --> data --> add point cloud data --> create new index and then choose the file I want to import. Here i have some trouble; in the create new index window i am unable to assign a coordinate system, i can find the one i need but i cant select it (or any other), it persists on staying unselected. I am able to create an index without a coordinate system but I need it with the right coordinates.
We are using Inventor 2012 and would like to read Solidworks 2012 files directly into the system. This can be done with Solidworks 2011 files but our vendor upgraded his software between the time he sent us test files to try the import and now. Can you tell me if the is a plug in or something that will allow us to read SW 2012 files or should we upgrade to Inventor 2013?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.
I just installed a fresh CS5, we are using some scripting that's installed on 5 other CS5 machines and this never happened before - when files are being saved (using 'save as', overwriting the original) this particular setup is saving xml files too!? See below

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt appears when I copy a folder of photos up to a server, it's also copying some hidden files that nobody can do anything with, causing problems. For instance, say my folder name is Photos, I just drag and drop the entire Photos folder onto the server. But if inside Photos i have a dog.jpg and cat.jpg file, there are also hidden files names ._dog.jpg and ._cat.jpg. it's those two hidden files that are causing problems when people go to work with that folder.is it something in OSX I need to change?

How do I do this using Elements 11?
It is a pity the dialog of the 'reconnect missing files' can list the missing files in a small window, but there is no option to export the list with full paths as a text file.
Knowing that the list is saved somewhere (probably in the catalog folder) I have searched if I could find how the information about missing files is stored in the Organizer. Natural candidates like the catalog.psexxdb and thumbs.5.cache sqlite databases did not show anything showing they stored the information.
So, I had a look at the thumbs.5.cache, which is interesting. It shows that two sizes of thumbnails are stored there, and that the criteria for matching are date taken and file size.
Now, I compared an optimized version of that file with a reconstructed one (I deleted the cache file).
Interestingly, you can see which media_id still have the matching criteria. I conclude that the other media_id are the missing files...
If Photodrawken is looking at this post : Could you check this supposition and see if a sqlite query could extract the list of the missing media?
It will be interesting to see if the next PSE version has a better handling of missing files... Seems that LR handles that problem much better.
Edit: The 'status' field in the thumbnail_info_table of the thumbs.5.cache database seems to be set at '2' for missing files.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't find an easy, out-of-the-box way to create a 1920x1080 file from my clips. My clips are shot in HD (1080p) and I can output in 1080 via .mp4, but not .avi. I've been producing in .mp4 and converting through an external tool to .avi, but quality is lost a bit.
I tried using "custom" and user-defined resolution, but the file size was enormous and didn't playback correctly in WMP. When I select the compression types, it locks out user-defined resolutions.

I am interested in saving my projects for both uploading to the web and for storing on my hard drive. I'm having some issues
I get by ok with the actual editing part of the VS 4 program. However, I am really struggling to figure out how to create the files in the most efficient format that would balance both quality/file size. I use two HD cams that record in the mp-4 format with h.264 compression 29.97fps. One is a Sanyo Xacti, the other A Kodak Playful. I like to record with the 720p/30 setting, and would prefer to retain the same frame resolution when I create the finished projects. Also these cams record at a rate of about 9000 kbps or so, but would like the finished project to be reduced to about half of that or maybe even less.
OK, so to this point I have experimented in saving my finished project to several different formats. And based on my first impressions, the AVI format looks best (when selecting ffd show and h264 compression). Only there's a problem...the audio is out of sync. About 1-2 seconds ahead of the video I have tried several times always with the same result. If I instead select xvid or h263 or h263+ as an alternative to h264, then everything seems fine. I have also tried creating a movie template with these parameters, as well as just going into the create custom file option and selecting AVI. Can't seem to solve the audio-video sync with h264 as the compression, no matter what I try.
Oh, and now that I've mentioned "Creating Movie Templates" I have another question dedicated just to that.
Why is it that when I save my project using my newly created template, the result is that I end up with several short saved files (portions of the complete project) instead of one single and complete file of my project? Have tried with both an AVI template in h264, as well as a WMV template. Doesn't happen when I don't use a template.
I have searched this forum for a way to create 3D pdf files directly from Inventor or other "free" software but have not found anything that works very well. Today I found an answer, it is by using the Bentley Viewer. I had to "Save Copy As" my Inventor .iam file to "AutoCAD DWG Files.dwg". Then open it up inside the Bentley Viewer, go to the "Print pdf" button and select the "Print to 3D" button. It will even show some colors.
