AutoCAD Map 3D :: Getting Multiple User / Custom Coordinate System Files (2014)?

Dec 18, 2013

If you create any custom coordinate systems in 2014 products (Civil3D, Map3D) *.CSD files are created in C:Users{user_name}AppDataLocalAutodeskUser Geospatial Coordinate Systems with the additional data in them.

My question is - can you have multiple 'coordsys.csd' files?

The reason for asking is that we are setting up a large number of low distortion projections that are specified by a government roading agency and I figure the best way to distribute these is to create a coordsys.csd with them and sync it out to everyones profile (the location shown above), but there could then be issues if a user then sets up some additional coordinate systems that will only be on their computer, if we altered or expanded the company definitions and sync'd these out again it would overwrite the users ones.

It would be good to be able to have mutilple custom coordinate system files - ones for particular clients, countries, individual users etc.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Export User Defined Coordinate System

Mar 27, 2007

Here at work we are have one computer that has some user defined coordinate systems on it, and we are needing to place these coordinate system files onto another computer so we can project some of our drawing files correctly.

What do we need to do in order to move these files from one computer to the next? What do we need to export?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Lock UCS To User-set Coordinate System?

Oct 23, 2013

By this I mean, if I set a new UCS with a new "north", can I lock it to this coordinate so it can't be changed?

Normally I would not do this, however, we're working with a company that has asked us to lay out an equipment grid on a couple sites they are setting up, as such: With 0,0 set to a predetermined point, and 100 ft increment grid laid out based off this point, using a laid out line on the site as an east-west, then creating a grid from this line and rotating it to create a "plant north."

Simple enough, except we sent them the dwg of the first one, and when they came back to us with their equipment setup, everything was inexplicably 4 degrees off and they blamed it on us. Oi...

So, yeah, to summarize, we'd like to lock our grid UCS.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Custom Coordinate System Failure?

Jun 7, 2012

I think this problem started after installing C3D 2012, and I don't think it's related to the UAC problems.  I tried asking my reseller about it, but got no answer.

This happens with all projects that use Custom Coordinate Systems created in C3D 2011 or earlier.  When opening the drawing and going into "Drawing Settings", I get this, and have to click seven times through the error box to finally have it do nothing:

Then, if I go back to Drawing Settings, I see this:

Notice how most of the dialog box settings are missing.

This stuff all worked fine for years, but seems to have gotten broken as soon as I installed C3D 2012, and is still broken in C3D 2013.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Setting Up Custom Coordinate System For COGO Points

Jul 10, 2012

I have a small field (5 by 5 meters) to be set out with about 40 points. Currently i use EOV (Hungarian National Coordinate System), thus each point has a lot of digits. I want to make the implemetor's job easier, so i want to move and rotate the CS near to my field.

I tried to use UCS, but the COGO points retained the "World" coordinates.

How to carry out this without moving my whole drawing to the origin?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Unable To Assign Coordinate System When Importing LAS Files

Aug 8, 2012

I have been trying to import LAS files via Civil 3D 2011.

To do this I first turn the workspace to ''Tool based geospatial''. Then i assign a global coordinate system which is the same one as the LAS file i am importing. The in the task pane window (command: mapwspace) under display manager tab i right click on map base --> data --> add point cloud data --> create new index and then choose the file I want to import. Here i have some trouble; in the create new index window i am unable to assign a coordinate system, i can find the one i need but i cant select it (or any other), it persists on staying unselected. I am able to create an index without a coordinate system but I need it with the right coordinates.

1. Tool palettes - Can I just copy the items from support/icons, and support/palettesinto the same location on the new drive?
2. Will copying the profile.aws to the same location work for the profile? and
3. Where do I copy my custom file for the custom tab & panel?

AutoCad 2D :: Rotating UCS Icon / Coordinate System?

Sep 9, 2011

I received a drawing from a designer some time ago showing the UCS Icon rotated so that the building / structure on the drawing was square to the screen but the original coordinate system was also maintained. How to do this as I often have to rotate drawings to suit a particular site coordinate system and then have to view the drawing at an angle on the screen rather than square on. With irregular shaped buildings or structures it is not so important but for most buildings it would be useful to look at the plan the way it was drawn so as not to give myself a crick in the neck!

AutoCAD .NET :: Blockreference Position And View Coordinate System?

I have rotated my view about 15 degress (just for this example).Now I prompt user to select the point, which is also an insertion point of the block.

So we have:

- selected point: X=0, Y=294, Z=0;

- insertion point of the block: X=0, Y=294, Z=0

(this is what I have in properties list or when I execute LIST command).

Now in my

ed.WriteMessage("
Base X: " + basePoint.X.ToString()); ed.WriteMessage("
Base Y: " + basePoint.Y.ToString()); ed.WriteMessage("
Block X: " + blkRef.Position.X.ToString()); ed.WriteMessage("
Block Y: " + blkRef.Position.Y.ToString());

 This gives me:

Base X: -2.89976376244283E-14 - OK
Base Y: 294.058394637539 - OK
Block X: -76.1079129044681 - BAD
Block Y: 284.038597817502 - BAD

My question - why blockReference position is different that it should be?
