Photoshop :: Can't Use Any Tool That Requires MouseDown
Jun 25, 2012
Using Photoshop CS6 on Win7 64bit on a brand new machine with 'more than average' specs, I seem to be unable to use any tool that requires me to hold my left mouse button.
- I can't make selections using any marquee tool
- I can't draw using brushes
- I can't draw shapes (I immediately get the 'Create rectangle' popup, as if I released my mouse button)
- etc
Â
Furthermore, I can't reverse the zoom direction by holding Alt.I've reset my preferences to the factory default by deleting Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs.psp from the user settings, this does not seem to solve the problem.
Â
There is an exception to the above; sometimes (not always) I can selections on a fresh start of Photoshop. This ability is lost as soon as I use any other tool. it doesn't seem as if another application 'steals focus', as I can always select other tools by using their shortcuts; that would not be possible if PS wouldn't have focus.
I use a Mac Pro 2x2.66 Dual Core Xeon tower with 15 GB Ram and OS 10.7.5. CS6 (always the latest update) is becoming very "buggy". It starts slowing way down, then does things like sharpening changes in ACR disappear when the photo is opened as a file in Photoshop, and other random little failures. Resetting preferences in both Bridge and Photoshop doesn't fix it. The only thing that works is re-installing CS-6.
I just installed Windows 8, and while it was very confusing I accidentally deleted all of my programs (I got confused with what the Reset Tab was) and when I went to go and install Photoshop Trial, it's telling me I need to update Adobe AIR because It's not available to my system. Â I've installed it before, the only change was from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and I've seen other people with Windows 8 use Photoshop CS5?
I have been having an issue with CS2 for some time now. Every time I connect an e-SATA external hard drive, the message pops up saying "the licence configuration data is no longer usable. Click OK to continue".  A new popup window appears, with the message: "Your 30 day period to use Photoshop without activation is over. Code:
In PS CS4. On XP. Why do I receive this message? & When the font changes, it moves the text. Why would this occur? The file was designed in PS 7.0. Does that matter? I didn't think it should if that is the problem. & yes I am having that Arial Narrow problem, but I won't get into that. It is not reading my Tahoma font either.
I calibrated my monitor and is using sRGB as working space in photoshop cs2.
If I open an adobeRGB tagged photo, photoshop says profile mismatch. If I choose to convert adobeRGB to sRGB, would some colors get clipped by the smaller sRGB space?
Suppose I want my working space to be adobeRGB, what are all the color management related things I need to change, in addition to choosing adobeRGB as the working space in photoshop? Do I need to change the monitor calibration process?
When i open my psd file it says that the some text layers might need to be update. When i press the update button i get the message "Selected font failed during last operation. If problem persists, please disable the font". If i click "no" the file opens, but all text layers has a exclamation mark and a tooltip that says "font is present on system but requires a layout change" Â I have create the PSD file using the trail version of Adobe Photoshop CS6 (downloaded from adobe.com). That trail has expired so i have just purhased Photosop CS 6 (from adobe.com). Before installing the version i purhased, i uninstalled the trail version. Â I dont understand this. It the same computer and the font is a system font that comes with the OS (Windows). I cannot create any new text layers. Â If a create a new PSD file i get the same message ""Selected font failed during last operation. If problem persists, please disable the font" when ever i try create a text layer.I have installed all updates.
Whenever I start up 2012, I get this error: Type error: Interface method call requires MAXClass, got: undefined..What does this mean and how can I fix it? Once I hit "OK", max seems to run fine.
I realise this is an old thread, just wondering if any new tweaks have some to the surface to all the wheel-double-click action to be altered. Currently my mouse is set to ZOOM>EXTENTS like I imagine most people's is. Lately I've been getting a lot of "Requires a regen, cannot be transparent" errors while trying to zoom>extents, and I would like to introduce a REGEN call into the wheel-double-click macro. REGENAUTO is set to ON.
I opened my awesome camera projection mapping scene and all of a sudden the file doesnt work.I get a popup saying "Errors have occured while reading the scene that might result in data loss. Please check the Script Editor for details."
The Script Editor says:
file -f -new; // Error: This command requires at least 1 argument(s) to be specified or selected; found 0. // // untitled // commandPort -securityWarning -name commandportDefault; // mental ray for Maya 2011
[code].....
Anyway, I googled it and "delete the mayafolder and restart Maya, thus creating a new mayafolder automatically" came up and so I did, it didnt work. The next solution apparently was to export eveything into a new scene, but only a third of my stuff is IN the scene so that doesnt work at all (yes i tried anyway). The last thing I did in the scene before I closed it down for the weekend, was to import about 10 nCloth flags into the scene. Disabling them all ofcourse, but still, that might be the reason it's crashing, I dont know.
I've been using AE CS6 on Mac OS 10.7.4 upon release and updated to 11.0.1 when it was released as well, so for a while, but just today I started to get this warning-  "Ray-tracing on the GPU requires CUDA version 4.0 or later. Ray-tracing will use the CPU until you install the latest supported CUDA driver."  I am running a supported Quadro 4000 with the latest CUDA driver, 4.2.7, and about the only thing I know of that I have installed recently was the update for SpeedGrade today. Why I'm now getting the warning?
I'm trying to make a layout for a site that requires the height in the file name.So I was wondering if paint.net had a function similar to this picture (photoshop) or is there any other way to measure height?
I am having an issue with saving our own dwg file in inventor 2014 & 2014.
When I open a new one of our dwg template files and try to say I get an error that says
"the current operation requires data from document 'xxx' but it cannot be found"
This doesnt happen when trying to save an inventor dwg template file and it has only happened since releases 2013 & 2014. If I open one of our files that was created before release 2013 I can save these with no problem.
I was hoping the issue would resolve itself when upgrading to 2014, but It hasnt, so it must be in a setting that I migrated across.
We have other users using 2013 and are not experiencing the same problem. In fact if they save one of our template files on their machine I am then able to open and save it on my machine!
When I am working on several drawngs at the same time, I use the Publish command to plot them as a group. However to save the settings as a DSD file for future use, every open file needs to be saved. Why is this? Is there a way to disable that requirement?
There is no reason I can think of besides "by design" for this. The DSD file is only a list of drawings and their plot settings and is not dpendent in any way I can think of, to whether or not one its drawings is open and not saved.
I have a simple iPart, with driven parameters Length and Width. When length changes (from a multi-value list), the spacing on a pattern and the number of occurrences of that pattern also change.
Invariably, it requires a rebuild. Occasionally, it requires two rebuilds. As this part is in a second-level subassembly, opening the part, rebuilding it, then rebuilding its assembly, then rebuilding the top-level is consumptive.
I've been using iLogic and iParts for about a week now, so I might be missing something basic. File attached.
I just need to go from K and tones of K to a spot color and tones of a spot color. Â I'm using recolor artwork because I can't merge into K. The art comes in from our customers as K so we can't just design differently. Â The rectangles on the right are k and tones of k. The rectangles on the left are the results after converting to a spot color with recolor artwork. Using recolor artwork. I just need a way to accurately move the tones from k to a spot.
In ps7 editor I can have 2 pictures cascaded and using the marquee tool and the move tool insert a section of one picture into the other. I cannot do this in ps11, what am I doing wrong?
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
I only had Adobe Photoshop for about 2 months now. I have been using the Low Key tool in guided alot. Here recently I went to edit a photo and my reduce effect button tool will not work. I tried everything from restarting my computer and the program. I love using this tool but I can not get the reduce effect to work.
So everything is fine until I use the select tool, and then free transform a part of the image. Then my brush and eraser stop working until I save and restart the program.
I am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen. Â The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?Â
I have been away from PhotoShop for awhile and have not used CS3 for over a year. When I try to use the clone tool a pop up tells me unable to use tool due to a program error. How can I fix?
