View 1 RepliesI'm running OS 10.8.5 using PS CS5.1. My mac was left on overnight (not sure how relevant that is) and when opening up PS this morning it crashed with the message 'end of file encountered' 'preferences file is invalid/has been deleted'
I've read up on a few older posts about the same thing. I uninstalled/reinstalled from disk but the same thing happens.
Since ADM is not available in CS6, I am wondering how to add preference items to the preference panel. Though AddPreferencePanel is still available in preference suite, it is taking a dialog id as parameter and the doc refers to ADMDialogSuite, so I guess it is still there by mistake.
I am using Qt, and of course I can create my own preferences dialog, but is it possible to add it to the existing preferences dialog to provide seamless interface?
Is there any way to set a preference for the file-format? Each time i save a file i have to adress it's format manualy, so it would be handy if there was a way to set a preference (via the short-cut menu maybe?!) for this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCS6 x64 (Windows 7 SP1) keeps loosing OpenCL, requiring I trash my preferences to gte it back. This evening it happened again. I was using Bridge 6, ACR 7.1 Beta and CS6 x64 version and it happened again. Trashed the preferences and even with mutilple reboots would not recognize OpenCL. So being the curious type I did a search for the Pref's file; and found two (2) instances of CS6 x64 preferences, One in the normal place....../Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 6/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings, then another instance in /Roaming/Adobe/ Adobe Photoshop CS5/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings. Trashed this one as well and OPen CL worked again.
Is this normal behavior to have duplicate Pref's for CS6 x64? Probably not, so what is going on? And can confirm that every now and then a duplicate will show up in the CS5 directory, not consistent, and have not yet found the trigger, but one is definitely there.
Apart from OpenCL not working when this happens, everything seems to work normally...

i saved the psd file last night and closed my computer, today morning i woke up and found this file "unopenable" then i found out it said that file space on disk is 0. and when i tried to open it again it says file location not found. then i restarted my pc. and the file was gone, i tried to find it with the search function and i only found a shortcut file with no valid source. i dont know what caused this, if it was photoshops fault or the computers fault, anyone know anything i can do to recover this file?
I have been working on a file for the last few weeks and save on a very regular basis and also have the autosvae option selected in preferences but Photoshop has crashed and completely deleted the file off the face of the earth?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI deleted a file that was locked by Photoshop Elements. Now Elements won't run. I tried re-install and still won't run.
View 13 Replies View RelatedWhen I first installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 I was unable to run Photoshop or Bridge CS6. Photoshop would give me an error about "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. If I ran either of these programs as an administrator they would run without issue, this led me to believe that there was a permission issue somewhere. After some digging I found out the both Bridge and Photoshop try to create a temp file (similiar to Photoshop Temp2777223910092) on the c: drive of the computer. In my case the user that I was logged in with did not have access to write to the root of the C: drive. Note that you run the program as the administrator and change the scratch disk location as that changes the preference for the administrator user and not the user that you are currently logged in as.
I first had to give the user that I was logged on with write permissions to the root of the C: drive. Next try and run Photoshop, you will get an error another error about the scratch disk and about and invalid or missing setting file. To correct this you need to have run Photoshop as an administrator, next you can go to Users AdminAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and copy Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs and/or Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs to Users<your logged in username>AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6.Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro running Lion, OS X 10.7 that I purchased two months ago so it's relatively new. Just bought Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended and installed it on the computer a day ago. Software will not operate unless I hold option+command+shift when starting so that the preferences file is deleted.
I suspect that the problem stems from a plugin that I deposited into the plugins folder, because the software was working at first. I didn't piece this together until after the fact, but once I fired up the software a couple times after installing it, it worked fine each time. I noodled around and checked some things out to see what's new in CS5, then I went ahead and deposited a favorite plugin into the plugins folder. Things stopped working after this. Not positive the plugin is related, but thought I should mention it.
I removed the plugin of course, to no avail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software three times. No difference. When I open the software without deleting the prefs file, it's just buggy and non-responsive. Can't start a new project, and thing just end up crashing every time. The software is useless without deleting the prefs file when firing it up.
3D problem. When trying to initiate a 3D function in Photoshop CC all I get is the preferences dialog box. Nothing appears to be out of place in the prefs, OpenCL is active as is the GPU. My system is Windows 7, i7 6 core CPU, dual GeForce GTX590 GPUs (3gb of ram each) and 32gb of system ram. Scratch disk has more than 500gb of free space.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my PC a few months back and I'm currently running the CS5 suites. A few weeks ago I started having issues with the CS5 suites freezing up and in some cases even crashing on me. I always run Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and bridge at the same time, as I'm constantly moving between program on any given project.
What I'd like to know, is if there's an optimum setting to use in the preferences for Photoshop 64 Bit Extended to it run more smoothly and efficiently, without the computer or program bogging down or crashing on me. Below is a list of the hardware I'm running, which I've been told is more than enough to run the CS5 suites.
Hardware & operating system:
- Windows 7 service pack 3
- EVGA X58 FTW3 motherboard
- i7 960 4-Core CPU
- GeForce GTX 470 Sli graphics card
- Corsair Extreme 24 gigs ram
- 3 TB 7200 RPM hard drive
Running Photoshop CS6 Normal edition (not extended)...
Was running through my preferences and for the first time I cycled through the options using the "Next Key" and found I had a preference panel that had no field descriptor on the left and looks to be for 3D rendering.
Not sure if this applied to my version of Photoshop, if it does, why no descriptor and if it does not why would it be there? The Help file suggests this is for the Extended version of Photoshop.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOnce I transfer image files from the camera to the Organizer (PSE10), they are listed in the information panel window as having a resolution of 180. I use the printer more than the internet for these files, so I really want the resolution to be 300 or above, and would like to set a preference to that effect. I know that I can resize them individually, or by a group, but I'd like to get the resolution set properly in the first place rather than adding yet antoher setp in my post processing efforts. I am assuming that the resolution is set by PSE10 because I can't find anywhere in the camera's (Canon Powershot SX40 HS) user manual that mentions that the camera sets a resolution. Is there some way that I can adjust the resolution that PSE10 assigns the images when they are imported into the Organizer? I'm using Windows 7 with 12GB Ram.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEach time I leave photoshop elements 10 (bought on Apple Store), A windows says that I don't have the required rights and my preference are not saved. Each time I restart the program it is re-installing the effect as if it's a new install. Any change done in preference window is not taken into consideration. I understood that this is because Photoshop is trying to save on root directory, which is not possible as protected. How can I change the right or tell photoshop to save the preference file somewhere else? I use Mountain Lion.
