View 9 RepliesI shoot a Canon 5D Markiii which produces large files and take a long time to upload to my cloud backup. But when I make Lightroom changes only the XMP file changes. If I convert to DNG does that mean the entire file must be backed up whenever I make a Lightroom change?
View 16 Replies View RelatedSince ADM is not available in CS6, I am wondering how to add preference items to the preference panel. Though AddPreferencePanel is still available in preference suite, it is taking a dialog id as parameter and the doc refers to ADMDialogSuite, so I guess it is still there by mistake.
I am using Qt, and of course I can create my own preferences dialog, but is it possible to add it to the existing preferences dialog to provide seamless interface?
When I upload NEF files to a LR catalog, they are converted to DNG images, but backed up to my external HD remain NEF. Other than copying back to the HD is there another solution

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a mockup designed in English which needs to be translated in several other language for our sales team to use in the presentations.Translating to French, German and Chinese worked out fine, bur for some reason this is not working for Arabic text.I have a translated Word document from which I'm pasting the translation into my original English version, for which I would the realign as needed for the layout.
The problem is that, for one, I can't seem to find a matching default font in Photoshop which translates well (for example, for Chinese used "Microsoft Yahei", and "Helvetica" for German).I have over a dozen Arabic font options to choose from, but something still seems wrong when comparing.
I'm not trying to turn my whole work space in Arabic, put need to copy/paste text from Word into Photoshop the realign to the right (basically flip it)What am I missing here? Are there some specific settings I need to modify to have this work?
I left site, we are as building structures. When I id the current info, I have x and y co-ordinates but z values are 0, and when I try edit the z value it wont allow me to apply the new level .
View 8 Replies View RelatedI designed in photoshop with pen tool a shape of pattern which would be printed. Exported to Tiff. But what I need to add is a pattern to add 3d feeling. Actually it will be printed to fabric and I need to add 3d feelings like example here:
I need to recognize two parts- a leaves and rest of the "plant" how to do it?
I notice that Nulls have a collapse transform switch. Just trying to imagine when this would be useful. Something related to the nifty "Scale Z" precomp trick, maybe?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with a photographer who uses lightroom. I am not familiar with lightroom but I use CS6 InDesign and Photoshop for these types of projects (brochures, postcards, fliers) The problem is I'm used to photographers sending me highres jpegs at 300dpi around 2.5 - 4MB that retain great quality, but this particular photographer is sending me files out of Lightroom that are average of 6-11mb. Taking about 6 hours to download. He is exporting the files as jpegs at 300dpi, 8x12. He swears that the photo will lose quality if he makes it smaller o nfile size. make the file sizes smaller in mb while still retaining quality? He also uses photoshop extended.

Is there a way to backup/store the tags and ablums outside of the photoshop default folder?
Can anyone tell me where to locate the files which correspond to Actions which I create in CS3? I have searched my hard drive for "ATN" files and find only those which came with the program. I would like to back up these Action files and occasionally email Actions which I have created to other users.

View 3 Replies View Relatedevery once in awhile i start up Photoshop and it acts like it has never been used before, all of the default windows are open, it asks me if i want to calibrate color, etc. The worst of this is that I lose of all my custom patterns and brushes that I have made.
Furthermore i can make a brush, name it "Zugzug" and close and reopen Photoshop and it is still there however when i run a search for "zugzug" on my computer it finds nothing. I have been using PS 6.0 when this was happening but recently got CS however I do not want to wait for this to happen again before i try to fix it.
Where are my custom brushes saved and why arent they saved with their names? I figure if i at least knew this it would be easier to save parts of my profile.....
I work on a networked machine and wonder if the profile is stored off of my c: drive. Is there a way to back up my 'profile'?
I'm gonna format my hard disk and I would like to back up my Photoshop Actions and Patterns created by myself before doing so. I had been to Photoshop folder and found the Actions and Patterns folders but they don't contain my own created files. What should I do?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently work for a construction company, we mostly focus on roadway rehabilitaion. We recieve DOT paper plans containing the construction plans and cross sections. I have been till now using the cross sections to build the roadway in Agtek, which is the software we use, then from there I can do my takeoff for excavation, utlites and areas. We have the 2012 BIM software and i'm very intersted in using that to rebuild the plans so I can preform the takeoff just as the DOT does as well as to model the utilities. Also i'm intersted in creating the model to show the estimators and the higher ups, so we can create a phasing plans, traffic plans or how we would want to handle the roadway rehab in general. I'm a novice in terms of Civil 3D, so this would be something i'd be practicing at home first.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Autocad 2011 although I only use it to tidy my drawings prior to sending to my client, my proficiency is quite basic. I have been tasked with surveying a number of feeder pillars or cabinets with 5 points of data, pt 1 is the centre of the doors, the other 4 points are the corners of the cabinet always in the same order. These can be imported into Autocad as a series of points and then I have to join the dots, and draw the cabinet. I know a little about blocks and that I can create a block of my drawing and place it over the five points, and then I'm stuck as if I change the block once it changes it in all the other positions.
After i have placed the block, I need to list the coordinates of the 5 points, this i do individually using the id command and copy and paste into a table. Is there anyway to speed this up?
I have attached a sketch of what I'm after doing, there could be as many 20+ cabinets in a drawing.
I have been using PSE9 for awhile. Imported around 3000 photos from camera card.
I didn't realize that I should have made a copy of the original photos. Now they are stored in the Organizer along with all the changes.
How can I copy/backup the original camera photos at this late date?
i have a long alignment going through a lot of creeks. right now the creeks are in xref just polylines but it intersect with alignments at areas.
is there a quick way to show all these lines on profile for design and drafting purposes? ideally want to just show a line at each intersection would be fine.
tried using pipes takes too long to set up. this is one important feature to have in the software.
i can program it again but i have not enough time to finish this project by mid october if i keep programming things.

I'm using PSE/PE 11 with latest updates, Win7 64bit (again, latest updates). I7 cpu w/8GB ram.
When I attempt a backup of the catalog (EVEN after optimizing & reconnecting) to an internal HDD (SSD) with 188GB free - NO LUCK. Attempt another backup to a different internal HDD with 345GB free - NO LUCK - the app says I must free up some disk space/not enough space. My catalog size from System Info shows 21.6MB but within the Backup app of Organizer, it says it is trying to backup 612,678.10MB.
I am trying to back up My Catalog to external hard drive.I get message "calculating total media size " it comes to 88% and then stays there for ever . I have repaired ,optimized and reconnected all missing files.I have around 30000 photos all nicely organized and tagged ,I want to back it all up to external drive without loosing all hard work on organizing them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my PC a few months back and I'm currently running the CS5 suites. A few weeks ago I started having issues with the CS5 suites freezing up and in some cases even crashing on me. I always run Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and bridge at the same time, as I'm constantly moving between program on any given project.
What I'd like to know, is if there's an optimum setting to use in the preferences for Photoshop 64 Bit Extended to it run more smoothly and efficiently, without the computer or program bogging down or crashing on me. Below is a list of the hardware I'm running, which I've been told is more than enough to run the CS5 suites.
Hardware & operating system:
- Windows 7 service pack 3
- EVGA X58 FTW3 motherboard
- i7 960 4-Core CPU
- GeForce GTX 470 Sli graphics card
- Corsair Extreme 24 gigs ram
- 3 TB 7200 RPM hard drive
Is there any way to set a preference for the file-format? Each time i save a file i have to adress it's format manualy, so it would be handy if there was a way to set a preference (via the short-cut menu maybe?!) for this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning Photoshop CS6 Normal edition (not extended)...
Was running through my preferences and for the first time I cycled through the options using the "Next Key" and found I had a preference panel that had no field descriptor on the left and looks to be for 3D rendering.
Not sure if this applied to my version of Photoshop, if it does, why no descriptor and if it does not why would it be there? The Help file suggests this is for the Extended version of Photoshop.
How do i change the language preference?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running OS 10.8.5 using PS CS5.1. My mac was left on overnight (not sure how relevant that is) and when opening up PS this morning it crashed with the message 'end of file encountered' 'preferences file is invalid/has been deleted'
I've read up on a few older posts about the same thing. I uninstalled/reinstalled from disk but the same thing happens.
CS6 x64 (Windows 7 SP1) keeps loosing OpenCL, requiring I trash my preferences to gte it back. This evening it happened again. I was using Bridge 6, ACR 7.1 Beta and CS6 x64 version and it happened again. Trashed the preferences and even with mutilple reboots would not recognize OpenCL. So being the curious type I did a search for the Pref's file; and found two (2) instances of CS6 x64 preferences, One in the normal place....../Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 6/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings, then another instance in /Roaming/Adobe/ Adobe Photoshop CS5/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings. Trashed this one as well and OPen CL worked again.
Is this normal behavior to have duplicate Pref's for CS6 x64? Probably not, so what is going on? And can confirm that every now and then a duplicate will show up in the CS5 directory, not consistent, and have not yet found the trigger, but one is definitely there.
Apart from OpenCL not working when this happens, everything seems to work normally...
