After Effects :: Purposes Of Collapse Transforms On Nulls?

I notice that Nulls have a collapse transform switch. Just trying to imagine when this would be useful. Something related to the nifty "Scale Z" precomp trick, maybe?
I have an animation which I want to drive a plexus system in AE. I've used a script allowing me to export an obj sequence to drive the plexus but I can not have any noise effects on an obj sequence without getting massive hemerraging in the animation. I was hopeing to attached locators to points on the character within maya and bake in their movement and export them out with a cam to after effects.
I can get the locators and cam across just fine like you might do if you wanted to get cam tracking across into after effects. My issue is that the nulls come out static and I was needing to use those to attach points to drive the plexus which would give me a "static" plexus and allow for smoother noise manipulation. All in all I need the locators "nulls" to still have there animation data transfer.
My only other solution I've come up with thus far is animating the individual points manually to a playblast of the character using a 3d cam track a basic guide.
There must be a way to export out locators that will move into after effects and retain there movement!
we created a heavy file (1.14GB) with many masks. and now they seemingly developed a life of their own: they look like big cubes or pixels. and this transforms/destroys the whole picture. what can we do to save the file.
Let say I create a sphere and under Channel / Layer Editor tab, I right click on the pSphere1 and it gives me the option to Freeze my object reseting everything to 0,0,0.
I would like to have this function in my own Custom tab. But since I can't find it under anywhere in Maya menu.
I left site, we are as building structures. When I id the current info, I have x and y co-ordinates but z values are 0, and when I try edit the z value it wont allow me to apply the new level .
I designed in photoshop with pen tool a shape of pattern which would be printed. Exported to Tiff. But what I need to add is a pattern to add 3d feeling. Actually it will be printed to fabric and I need to add 3d feelings like example here:

I have a mockup designed in English which needs to be translated in several other language for our sales team to use in the presentations.Translating to French, German and Chinese worked out fine, bur for some reason this is not working for Arabic text.I have a translated Word document from which I'm pasting the translation into my original English version, for which I would the realign as needed for the layout.
The problem is that, for one, I can't seem to find a matching default font in Photoshop which translates well (for example, for Chinese used "Microsoft Yahei", and "Helvetica" for German).I have over a dozen Arabic font options to choose from, but something still seems wrong when comparing.
I'm not trying to turn my whole work space in Arabic, put need to copy/paste text from Word into Photoshop the realign to the right (basically flip it)What am I missing here? Are there some specific settings I need to modify to have this work?
I want to get similar transforms with rotate and translate as I get it with the Transfommation Effect on multiple copies. But somehow the rotation of the Filter puts a different transform than doing it with rotation in js. With js the copies get rotated around a center, that is on the same level for all objects. With the filter the translations seem to have an different origin/direction. I dont get the logic how to get the same output with js.
I am working with a photographer who uses lightroom. I am not familiar with lightroom but I use CS6 InDesign and Photoshop for these types of projects (brochures, postcards, fliers) The problem is I'm used to photographers sending me highres jpegs at 300dpi around 2.5 - 4MB that retain great quality, but this particular photographer is sending me files out of Lightroom that are average of 6-11mb. Taking about 6 hours to download. He is exporting the files as jpegs at 300dpi, 8x12. He swears that the photo will lose quality if he makes it smaller o nfile size. make the file sizes smaller in mb while still retaining quality? He also uses photoshop extended.
I am trying to throw a screen shot up onto a TV model to make my rendering more fun and I can't get it to work right!!!
I duplicated one of the standard plastic materials in Revit's lib and replaced the color with a cutom image (first tried jpg then png). I had to tweak the transforms to get it to fit the screen. Looks great in the camera view but when I render the transforms are off.
I currently work for a construction company, we mostly focus on roadway rehabilitaion. We recieve DOT paper plans containing the construction plans and cross sections. I have been till now using the cross sections to build the roadway in Agtek, which is the software we use, then from there I can do my takeoff for excavation, utlites and areas. We have the 2012 BIM software and i'm very intersted in using that to rebuild the plans so I can preform the takeoff just as the DOT does as well as to model the utilities. Also i'm intersted in creating the model to show the estimators and the higher ups, so we can create a phasing plans, traffic plans or how we would want to handle the roadway rehab in general. I'm a novice in terms of Civil 3D, so this would be something i'd be practicing at home first.
I am using Autocad 2011 although I only use it to tidy my drawings prior to sending to my client, my proficiency is quite basic. I have been tasked with surveying a number of feeder pillars or cabinets with 5 points of data, pt 1 is the centre of the doors, the other 4 points are the corners of the cabinet always in the same order. These can be imported into Autocad as a series of points and then I have to join the dots, and draw the cabinet. I know a little about blocks and that I can create a block of my drawing and place it over the five points, and then I'm stuck as if I change the block once it changes it in all the other positions.
After i have placed the block, I need to list the coordinates of the 5 points, this i do individually using the id command and copy and paste into a table. Is there anyway to speed this up?
I have attached a sketch of what I'm after doing, there could be as many 20+ cabinets in a drawing.
I bought the lightroom 3 cd and installed it. When I downloaded the 3.6 update and tried to install it, I got this error message : Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid. Ive tried uninstalling the 3.2 version and then installing the 3.6 version, but that didnt work either.
i have a long alignment going through a lot of creeks. right now the creeks are in xref just polylines but it intersect with alignments at areas.
is there a quick way to show all these lines on profile for design and drafting purposes? ideally want to just show a line at each intersection would be fine.
tried using pipes takes too long to set up. this is one important feature to have in the software.
i can program it again but i have not enough time to finish this project by mid october if i keep programming things.

I'm creating a flow chart/decision tree. I am animating the position of a diagram on the stage when a user selects yes or no in answer to a series of questions.
I've split up each diagram movement on the stage timeline as labels. I've staggered these transforms as keyframes on the same layer/track. The issue I'm having is when I manipulate the position of my diagram by moving it on the stage it affects adjacent transforms. I have my transforms seperated with a 1/10 second gap becuase I thought this would split the timeline up but it appears not!
While I can edit the transforms manually by typing in xy co-ordinates it would be ten times faster to move the diagram on the stage instead and not overwrite adjacent transforms.
How do I restrict the transform to the two keyframe points I am concerned with?
I'm trying to make a box collapse but everytime I run the simulation, instead of all the fragments falling downwards, some fragments explode upwards before falling. I have tried using both PhysX and Reaktor in RayFire with and without gravity force.
what Collapse To Definitions does inside the iLogic Rules Editor. I've read online how it works in applications such as Visual Studio but I don't see any difference in iLogic between it and the other outlining tools such as Toggle All Outlining.
Can I "collapse" displacements in Maya?I mean, in Max you can use a displacement modifier with a map applied, and you can see your displacement effect in viewport. Then, you can collapse this modifier and your geometry has now the displacement effect collapsed, is a new geometry with very nice detail.This is very usefull for example to use this geometry in Mudbox with a very nice base mesh.In Softimage you can do the same thing with a push deformer with your displacement map applied.
Illustrator running very slowly, problem with layers. Nothing happens when clicking on triangles to open and collapse layers. Can turn them on and off by clicking the eye. Can also create new layers and delete things.
Working in windows 7, but switching between personal Mac OSX. Both running Illustrator CS6 trial version with vectorscribe plugin. Also using wacom intuos 4 tablet. Have intermittently saved as .pdf. Problem first occured when working on mac.
Ok i am not exactly new to Ai but i can only do certain things. So i took a cource and i am just having a helluva time finding a simple section on that tut.
Panels like color swatches and graphic styles have 3 appearances. 1 is fully open, 2 is colapsed with icons and then there is collapsed with label names.
1. Is the best way to create a design surface having a feature lines and then creating grading objects? Then how do i create a FILL grading group for an eroded embankment of a reservoir. The examples on a typical book e.g."master civil 3d 2012" shows a pond design.
I started a polyline boundary area just a bit smaller than cogo points consist of - survey points shot on the edge on the cliff, shot midway to wall of the cliff and shots taken to where the toe of rip rap fill-boundary should be.More points were created with elevations which represent whats on the site. (See image) . is this correct? On the base feature boundary, do i just tell what length of the boundary line it must be graded from the top of the cliff, 1:2 slope and when I get to the portion of the base feature boundary line at the toe , I just tell how far the length of the boundary line is the and give a slope value of 1:1.5. Should this work.
2. I'm about to try to model the the design surface a different way. (from the cliff 1:2, it goes this way for 5 ft, changes to 1:1.5) do I create feature lines at toe , then vertical feature line between the toe and the cliff , then use the grading editor or elevation editor
3. Once I obtain the infill surface of the fill, how rotate or orient the model , ( rock material - rendered) so Photo 3 is draped over it.?

I think that using groupbox control is bad idea, so how can I make some container with my controls (label and textbox) and make this container expandable/collapsible?
