Photoshop :: CS 5.5 - Save For Web Default To Image Source Folder?
Dec 19, 2012
I'm using CS5.5/Photoshop5.1
Â
I have about 1000 folders all that have a file inside called; sample.jpg. I need to resize each of them and I have to use the Save For Web option so that these files are as small as possible. Save As makes the images too big. My plan was to make an action and batch process the files. It's easy enough to open all the documents, within the root directory, that are called, sample.jpg, by using the finder search features, but what I can't seem to do is get the Save to Web option to recognize the image's source folder. If I create an action, I see that the location I used when I created the action, is hard coded, so all I'm able to do is overwrite the same file, over and over again.
I have two questions about saving an image as a C source file.
1) In what orientation is the image saved in the C source (row-by-row or column-by-column)?
2) Why does GIMP only export to C source but not import? And as a follow on, any program that will read in C source images and display them?
Just to make sure we are all on the same page about which format I am referring to, here is an excerpt from one of the images I exported as a C source file.
I'm trying to see if there is a shortcut or way to save my images to the size I want on the SAVE FOR WEB feature
For faster downloads I like to shrink my images to to 800 X 600 - so once I'm done editing them I hit "Save for Web" and then input those figures manually.
Now is there a way to program my Save for Web command so the images are automatically resized to 800 X 600 ? This would save me one step and speed up my work.
I have an action which applies Levels and Curves to my black and white TIFFs. At the end it "saves as" a JPEG. Originally it saved them at quality level 10 but I re-recorded the action to set the quality at 12. However, since this change the action keeps saving as into the folder where the image I used for the re-recording was located.
When I do plotting from DWG to PDF now, it doesn't plot to the same folder as the DWG file and the file name also. It used to do that on my old PC.
Go through the settings and it doesn't have an option to let me plot to the same DWG folder or an option to plot to PDF with the same file name as the DWG.
When exporting a sequence from Premiere Pro CC, you are able to toggle between 4 drop down options within Adobe Media Encoder on what Source Range you'd like to export (Work Area, Sequence In/Out, Entire Sequence, Custom) as seen here:  Is there a way to set the default Source Range to something besides Sequence In/Out?  My reason for asking is that sometimes I export multiple sequences at once using AME's Queue. I add my custom presets to each Sequence and hit export, but SOMETIMES I may have accidentally marked an in point on my timeline and by default it's set to export only that In-to-Out part of the sequence.  I know what you may be thinking...well, just don't add any In/Out points to your sequence on the timeline or clear them first. The trouble is that I often don't see them or catch them when working quickly. In Premiere Pro CC, I use the "Lighter Brightness" Appearance setting because it's easier on my eyes after editing 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Sure, darker looks cooler, but it kills my eyes for some reason. Anyway, PPro CC has a troublesome appearance issue in CC where it's not "optimized" for editing when you change it to a lighter appearance like it was in CS6. I've already contacted Adobe about this and another appearance issue (involving highlighted clips when in Lighter Appearance setting) and they are "actively working on fixing this appearance issue asap".  For reference, here's Premiere Pro CC in/out points in default dark appearance (notice the slightly lighter grey area):
Now here's that same in/out in "Lighter Appearance":
Not exactly optimized. Can hardly see it. This affects in/out points in the Source Window as well. Really hard to see. Â Conversly, CS6 looked the best (the blue REALLY stands out making things easy to see): Â is there a way to set the default "Source Range" to something else besides Sequence In/Out so that I don't end up doing what I just did and leaving for several hours while batch exporting only to come back and find that I exported only a "portion" of one of my big sequences?
I'm trying to change the dafault varible for the mirror command from no to yes. whne you do the mirror command after you choose your second point it asks if you want to erase the source object and the default is set to no but I would like to change it to yes. I'm able to change the macro for the mirror button which works but only when I push the button. Before the cui file I remember everything was done from the acad.pgp or the acad.mnu files but with the new CUI file i can't seem to locate wher to change the actual command and not just the macro for the mirror button.
When I open Elements 9 in Folder Location the images displayed are not those in the highlighted folder. Similarly if I select another folder I see another selection of images from elsewhere in the structure.Â
some way to specify where PS CS3 will look for files and where to save files. I do not want my CS3 files to be saved to the default locations, and it is a waste of time to have to re-direct PS every time I what to open or save a file.
I installed Photoshop CS6 on my iMac and MacBook. The MacBook has a "Default Actions" folder in the actions panel with 13 default actions. This folder did not appear on my iMac following install. However, my iMac has several image and text effect actions installed that did not install on my iMac. Would like to have the Default Actions on my iMac and text and image effect actions on my MacBook.
AND/OR a open tab recovery cache or way to extract the images that get lost during a crash of PDN.  Number two on my list behind your fantastic new layer functionality that I had been dreaming about for three years. I NEVER close PDN. The ONLY time it closes is once every week or two when the 20, 30, 50 tabs that I have open, finally overwhelm my system. I bounce back and forth so much that there is no way to continuously save them as I make changes cause it would jack up my workflow by taking up too much time.  No way around it, this is just how I work. It would be lovely if PDN was able to, similar to After Effects, popup an error box saying it was about to crash and did 'you" want to save the session. Especially, now, with 4, as while it is a super duper version upgrade, the crashes were daily, with me, and I couldn't keep losing that much data. Sophie's choice, for me. The old layer window or daily crashes.
By default, PSE uses the Windows preferred location for this user. I have a folder that is easier to access, simply D:Scans, and I have to enter this manually, as well as removing the default to set up a folder with "today's date" every time I do a scan. I would like to modify these default settings. Surely those locations must be held in an installed file somewhere, and so if I can just edit that file I'd be very happy.
Can I make layers default to the top when I drag and drop into a new layer folder instead of the bottom? It annoys me that they always go to the bottom and I inevitably always need them at the top.
I'm using the save for web function to save a large number of files (not batch saving)usually, when I open a file and start saving for web, it will remember the folder that I most recently exported to, and by default open that folder for that file, until I "save for web" into a different folder. Â Out of seemingly nowhere, the save for web seemed to "forget" this folder (and any other folder I tried to save to), and now defaults to the "Documents" folder, causing me have to click through to find my intended destination folder. I'm on CS5 & Mac running Mountain Lion. On my work computer (exactly the same, Mac + Mountain Lion) I am using CS6 and have not encountered this issue.
I know it might sound weird, HDR images are usually built from multiple images all taken from the same place at the same time but using different exposures.
I'd like to create a HDR image from multiple versions of one source image. I have a number of pictures where I've taken the photo exposing for the sky. This resulted in the landscape/buildings being darker than desired usually. These areas can be easily brightened up though. I find that if I expose for the landscape and buildings, then the sky is washed out and unrecoverable. If I expose for the sky, the landscape and buildings are merely "a bit dark" and can be recovered simply by adjusting the brightness/contrast in photoshop. Of course doing this washes out the sky again, so I need to create a composite of good sky and brightened landscape and buildings. I'm not creating anything professional, so it's not important that I use the best pro techniques.
What I've traditionally done is have two layers, one with the original image (with the good sky) and one with the lightened image (with the good landscape and buildings) and using a mask for the sky, I can put the good (unlightened) sky on the lightened image. Standard stuff really.
So when I heard about HDR automation, I'd hoped that I could take my original image (with the good sky), take a second lightened version of the very same image, put it on a layer, select a HDR automation tool and have it somehow merge them magically. When I've tried this though, nothing seems to happen. I'm left with an unmerged image. I'm pretty sure I'm going about it wrong.
I wonder whether this HDR automation isn't going to help me and perhaps my fake pseudo HDR image creation technique is worth sticking with.
I've been using Corel Photopaint 8 for many years and only just switched to PS CS3 recently (mostly driven by the thought of this cool HDR feature). I'm still finding my way a bit. I'm using it on XP if that makes a difference.
I just bought Adobe Elements Photshop and Premier 11. I spent 2 to 3 hours getting my picture video library into Adobe's organizer. I had some problems with duplicate picture (that I wanted to be there - so I had to rename them) and a couple pictures with corrupted metadata. After I got all that sorted out I am a bit miffed about the folder view on Adob'es organizer.  I love that you can switch to folder view - since this is how I have been organizing my pictures for a long time. I would like to continue organizing this way for now until I get a grasp on the other ways I can organize them in elements. However, every time I close and re-open organizer it switches back to the default view instead of folder view. there is a way to set folder view to the default view!Â
I have a folder with 300 sub folders with a high res image. (each image is in a folder, with it's part no's name)
Ive created a process to create low res images with a new file name prefix s_ and I have selcted "include all sub folders" in my source folder options.
The problem i have i select a destination folder and all the images are saved to the destination folder root. As opposed to the original location of each image. (its own sub folder)
Any way to, have a source color chart, a target color chart, calculate what are the variations between them, and then use that to apply it to another image? I'm not talking about "match color", I know how that works, but is not what I'm looking for. It can be compared to switching to a custom color profile (calculated by the variation of source and target). Or something like "color lookup" (but with a custom icc/icm/lut). Creating a custom icc has been really complicated for me, and I still can't get it to work. (I have the icc profile, but can't open it nor from "convert profile" nor from "color lookup").
How do I delete that pesky default publish folder that is created when I make an new hard drive publish service?I don't want the standard publish folder because I only need several smart publish folders.
The italicized Untitled Export publish folder is the one in question. There doesn't seem to be an option to delete the folder when I right click on it. If I right click on any other publish folder, there is an option to delete the folder.
I've been trying to install autocad but seem to fail because of my installation path?
I'm pretty confused of the fact that the installation path is not my default folder and when I tried to change it back, there's no way to do so. I've attached a copy of what's happening whenever I try to install it to have a better understanding of the issue. I thought it was my computer at first, but I checked all my settings and my installation path is steadily in (C folder..however autocad aims to be installed in a different path (D and then freezes. I clicked on all 3 options at the bottom (Installation - system requirements...) but nothing allows me to change back my path folder so that the installation can take place.
Any way to allow a user to choose a folder from a default location. I thought I had found the solution but it's not quite working as I wanted: Â #target illustrator
//Example 1 var output_folder = Folder.selectDialog ('Choose PDF output folder.');
//Example 2 var myFolder=Folder(app.activeDocument.path).selectDlg("Choose PDF output folder:"); Â If I use the code in example 1 the choose folder dialog appears and the 'Open' button is available and when I press the button the location is chosen as expected. However if I use the code in example 2, although the choose window opens in the path of the active documents location the 'Open' button is not able to be pressed until I select a folder., which means that the chosen location is not correct. I should indicate that I'm running this code on a Mac. Â Any way to have a choose folder dialog window specify a location and be able to select that.
