Illustrator :: Why Save Selected Slice Always Creates Image Folder Every Time

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my deconstructed crest logo, all pieces taken apart. I tried to find the source of the problem but it doesn't seem to be anything that I can track.
This problem ocurrs (the white lines on the "body" and on the two "wings") only when I use Save for Web with the GIF, JPEG and PNG options. If I use the WBMP, SWF, or SVG options then the white lines do not appear. They also do not appear if I use the regular Save As, or if I export to PNG, JPEG, etc.
The black forms are just shapes with black fills (no strokes) on them - so there is no reason that I can find for this happening.
Since upgrading to Illustrator 17.1 I can no longer select slices in the Save for Web dialog, nor can I select a slice on a different layer than the one it was created on.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to slice an image using the filter-web-slice function but I was wondering if there is a way to customize the function or change its properties in the Python-Fu. I need gimp to slice by columns (start in the top left corner slice each grid down the column then proceed to the next column. Right now all I can get gimp to do is cut by rows. Normally gimps function would be fine but I need the image labeled a particular way so I can use the individual files in a map for a game. I'm making a 118 images so renaming them by hand would take too long.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using the save for web function to save a large number of files (not batch saving)usually, when I open a file and start saving for web, it will remember the folder that I most recently exported to, and by default open that folder for that file, until I "save for web" into a different folder.
Out of seemingly nowhere, the save for web seemed to "forget" this folder (and any other folder I tried to save to), and now defaults to the "Documents" folder, causing me have to click through to find my intended destination folder. I'm on CS5 & Mac running Mountain Lion. On my work computer (exactly the same, Mac + Mountain Lion) I am using CS6 and have not encountered this issue.
How to make the following script for adding serial numbers apply to multiple files in a selected folder?
var docRef = app.activeDocument;
with (docRef) {
var docName = name.substring(0, name.lastIndexOf('.'));
var artRight = visibleBounds[2];
[Code] .....
When I attempt to import photos into an existing folder LR creates a duplicate folder with the same name. The original folder (orange) does not show the imported photos, when I try to move the photos from the duplicate folder (red) over I receive the error message "files already exist in this destination." My lightroom hardrive folder appears correctly, no duplicate folder. Also, on import I am only renaming the files, a sub-folder is not created.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI deisgn large numbers symbols in emf format and then batch convert these to svg files. I have over 22,000 images at the moment, so being able to automatically batchnconvert is vital.
Currently I to use CS3 to batch with no problems. In CS4 when you open the emf the artboard is the default document size, not the artwork size. So there is a lot of extra white space in the batched svg.
I have just downloaded a trial of CS5 to see if this is now possible as I hate being stuck on an old version. CS5 has the option to fit the artboard to the selected art (object/artboard/fit to selected art) but you cannot seem to save this to an action list.
The actions I want to include are 'open' 'select all' 'fit to selected art' 'save as svg' 'close' . But the artboad step isn't saved.
I have slices in my document. On one slice, I have added some information under the Slice Options, such as a URL and an alt tag. When I choose Save Selected Slices, I get a drop-down menu in my Save dialog called File Format. The only choice in this drop-down is "Images Only." Same thing happens if I try to save the selected slice via the Save for Web dialog. Didn't you used to be able to choose to save the HTML as well? Or, is there ever another choice in this drop-down?

I'm using Elements Organizer 11.0 with Windows 8. These temp files have been a problem in at least the previous three versions of PSE with the previous three versions of Windows.
Scenario: Suspiciously low on disk space
Problem: Found thousands of duplicate image files in Windows temp folder (ex. C:UsersUsernameAppDataLocalTemp)
PSE creates these files and never deletes them AFAICS after exiting the program, rebooting, using the Windows 'Disk Cleanup' utility, optimizing the catalog, etc. I found no user preference for deleting temp files or limiting them to a particular size.
These can be created for many reasons, but one sure way to do this is to choose File>Save Metada to Files. (If you don't have any images selected it will attempt to do this for all files displayed.) In my case it makes a duplicate of my 29MB CR2 file and a backup of the associated 4KB XMP file. I've used Windows' fc.exe utility to verify that the CR2 is exactly the same, byte for byte.
Is PSE designed to leave these around for us to clean up after they consume the entire hard disk? Am I missing something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it's possible to save an AI file as both an AI file & PDF file at the same time??
Where i work, we always need to save an AI file and a PDF file. So is there a way I can set up my Illustrator so everytime i save something, it'll save the AI file and automatically create the PDF too? ..
Or is there no way around .... Save as: Illustrator file. / Save as: PDF file in two separate actions?.
I just started using Illustrator CS 5.1 on a new laptop running Windows 7. (I have used it for over a year on an older computer running Windows XP with no problem). For the first month or so on Windows 7 it worked ok (saving was somewhat slow) but suddenly it freezes every time I save - sometimes it will eventually save - after 5-7 minutes - yes, I timed it...
View 1 Replies View Relatedwe need to be able to collect (save to a list) a series of x,y coordinates as each object in an AI file is selected. Can this be done by creating a script of some kind that runs concurrently with Illustrator? Is this something that can be done via Action Scripts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to both iMac and Illustrator, and cannot find a way to save .ai files to a specific sub-folder.
The options available in the Save As dialog box are Devices, Favorites and Recent places. If the folder I want doesn't show in these categories I end up saving to the desktop and moving the file in Finder.
I'm using CS5.5/Photoshop5.1
I have about 1000 folders all that have a file inside called; sample.jpg. I need to resize each of them and I have to use the Save For Web option so that these files are as small as possible. Save As makes the images too big. My plan was to make an action and batch process the files. It's easy enough to open all the documents, within the root directory, that are called, sample.jpg, by using the finder search features, but what I can't seem to do is get the Save to Web option to recognize the image's source folder. If I create an action, I see that the location I used when I created the action, is hard coded, so all I'm able to do is overwrite the same file, over and over again.
AI seems to take a long time to save a 4 MB file. Is there some setting to make save faster? I have linked images, not embedded.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having some issues with my file when trying to Save For Web. A band of transparency appears above my image even though I have everything cropped to the artboard, and the artboard is exactly the size I want the final image to be. If I uncheck "Clip to Artboard" the band of transparency disappears from the top, but reappears on the right side. It seems as if the artboard area is calculated differently in the Save For Web screen; its slightly off. I've included some images so you can see the issue.
Trying to save for web as a .png with "Clip To Artboard" selected; a tiny (one pixel tall?) band of transparency on the top of the image.
Trying to save for web as a .png without "Clip To Artboard" selected; the image seems to shift and the band of transparency appears on the right size. Also some of the pieces of the image appear on the bottom outside of the artboard.
I made sure to crop each element of my image to fit exactly on the artboard. Previously, I had made sure to use a clipping mask exactly the size of the artboard and still had these issues. I would like my .png to not have a band of transparency. It has the same issue when I change it to .jpg, but instead has a white matte band. What am I doing wrong, or is this just an issue with Illustrator?

I'm using Illustrator for work and I love it, I never needed scripts yet. Now I have couple houndred svgs coming in per day, I would like to have a script that opens every svg one by one in the selected directory and add them to a pdf as pages of the same size and than save it.
How many files I could put in 1 pdf this way?
I'm using Illustrator CS5 on Win7 x64.
I'm on a MacPro using the latest version of Lion, 10.8.3.I'm trying to convert my .psd files (CS6 13.0.4 x64) into PDFs with embedded fonts, but if I do a Save As and select Photoshop PDF and then select High Quality Print, the resulting PDF files show text that appears to be partly corrupted, no matter what application I view them in.
Examples, first the original PSD file:
And here's how it looks as an exported Photoshop PDF: The text that looks normal (starting with Holmes) can be selected, but the rest does not act normal at all.
On photoshop cs6 (Mac Lion) trying to save file as tiff, creates .pxr, trying to save .png creates .pcx, raw creates .mpo, eps creates .gif, gif creates .bmp etc. etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an action which applies Levels and Curves to my black and white TIFFs. At the end it "saves as" a JPEG. Originally it saved them at quality level 10 but I re-recorded the action to set the quality at 12. However, since this change the action keeps saving as into the folder where the image I used for the re-recording was located.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have PS CS and I'm experiencing something odd. Whenever I save a slice, it appends info to it, regardless of what I set in the slices preferences dialogue box. So, selecting save for web and choosing a slice, then naming it header.gif will end up with a file of header_13.gif (whatever slice number it is). I'm sure it didn't used to do this, or have I lost my marbles?
I have to go to the folder and rename every slice manually. Surely Adobe didn't intend this so what am I missing? Also, if I set everything in the slice preferences to NONE, leaving just .ext as the last option, every slice is saved as _.gif, regardless of what I type into the filename "save as" box.
I did a search on here and a search in Google but couldn't find anyone with this problem so maybe I have software conflicts?
Also, the PSD isn't longer than 27 letters (I've seen that as a problem before).
