View 4 RepliesI just bought Adobe Elements Photshop and Premier 11. I spent 2 to 3 hours getting my picture video library into Adobe's organizer. I had some problems with duplicate picture (that I wanted to be there - so I had to rename them) and a couple pictures with corrupted metadata. After I got all that sorted out I am a bit miffed about the folder view on Adob'es organizer.
I love that you can switch to folder view - since this is how I have been organizing my pictures for a long time. I would like to continue organizing this way for now until I get a grasp on the other ways I can organize them in elements. However, every time I close and re-open organizer it switches back to the default view instead of folder view. there is a way to set folder view to the default view!
When I open Elements 9 in Folder Location the images displayed are not those in the highlighted folder. Similarly if I select another folder I see another selection of images from elsewhere in the structure.

I do not know why the catalog has changed the file location of "ALL" pictures to the location on my backup drive.
Example: K:My DocumentsMy PicturesPetsPICT1460-1.JPG
The actual location of the original photo is: D:My DocumentsMy PicturesPetsPICT1460-1.JPG
The location of "My Pictures" is on my primary Hard Drive D:My DocumentsMy Pictures
Why is Photoshop changing all of my 37,000+ photo thumbnails to point to my Backup Drive K:?
I need to correct the catalog file. How do I make the correction and stop it from happening in the future?
I'm new to Elements 10 and I'm having a hard time figuring things out but 1 thing in particular. I'm on a PC and use Windows 7.I already import a lot of pic's to Elements or so I thought.
When I'm in "Folder Location" and click on a folder it doesn't display any pictures and says "No files from this folder have been imported into Elements Organizer. To add any files, right click on the folder and select "Import to Organizer"
So I do as I'm told and then i get this error."Nothing was imported. The files or folders selected to import did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in this catalog."
Any way to allow a user to choose a folder from a default location. I thought I had found the solution but it's not quite working as I wanted:
#target illustrator
//Example 1
var output_folder = Folder.selectDialog ('Choose PDF output folder.');
//Example 2
var myFolder=Folder(app.activeDocument.path).selectDlg("Choose PDF output folder:");
If I use the code in example 1 the choose folder dialog appears and the 'Open' button is available and when I press the button the location is chosen as expected. However if I use the code in example 2, although the choose window opens in the path of the active documents location the 'Open' button is not able to be pressed until I select a folder., which means that the chosen location is not correct. I should indicate that I'm running this code on a Mac.
Any way to have a choose folder dialog window specify a location and be able to select that.
How do I move the catalog and previews in the default location to another drive?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got HP Envy with installed PSE 9.
The catlog for PSE was located on the same drive as a programs and even I have almost empty data drive I cannot install any more programs because there is not enough space on the drive for the programs.
Questions:
1. How I can move Catalog to another drive?
2. How I can configure from the start or re-configure PSE to have Catalog in another location/drive?
I backed up my Elements 10 catalog to an external hard drive.I then built a new computer, and installed Elements 10. I then used the Restore feature and restored my catalog to a new location.
All of the pictures came in along with my tags, etc. but all of the pictures are showing a generic icon with a question mark, meaning that they are all disconnected.
When I click on a picture and look at the location, it is still showing the old location, even though I used the Restore function and specific a new location, so Elements obviously knows where the pictures are because it put them there!!!
Can I find photos by searching folder location, using Photoshop Elements 10? I used to use that method frequently inversion 5, but don't see how to do it in version 10. I am using Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used Photoshop Elements 3, 5, 7 and 8. In each one I could see the thumbnails of multiple files in the "Folder Location" display in Organiser. Now in PE10 I can only see the thumbnails for one file at a time. Why and how I can display the thumbnails of all files in "folder locations?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running LR2 (I know, first step, UPGRADE!), but in the meantime, I had to move my catalog because my drive got full. Under the Backup dialog box I chose the new location. But when I just click on the LR icon to open the program it opens with the default C: drive catalog location that it first installed with. Then I open the specific catalog from in the program and relaunch it. I have LR set to bring the dialog box everytime I start LR since I don't use it everyday. So I back it up when the dialog comes up and when it's done it goes right back to the default catalog with none of my library in there. Why do I have to keep opening the catalog manually?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 17,900 photos and videos in a directory structure organized by date (folders for year, with sub folders for month, day etc). Recently, Organizer refuses to display newly added folders in the folder tree. That is, I create the new folder, and rename with a date, at which point it vanishes from the display. It still appears in Microsoft Explorer. It looks like there is some limit on the number of folders you can have in Organizer, but surely that is absurd?
I have a new Windows 7 PC, running on a home network (total 3 PCs). All have (legal) copies of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements. Files are stored on a NAS in a shared directory.
We have Elements 6.0 and cannot access the organizer. A pop-up says "The default catalog could not be found please open or create a different catalog. Thne another pop-up appears with the title catalog manager. FYI: we recently downloaded adobe flash, can that cause problems?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBy default, PSE uses the Windows preferred location for this user. I have a folder that is easier to access, simply D:Scans, and I have to enter this manually, as well as removing the default to set up a folder with "today's date" every time I do a scan. I would like to modify these default settings. Surely those locations must be held in an installed file somewhere, and so if I can just edit that file I'd be very happy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter several moves of pictures to a new disc (via File, Move within Photoshop Elements Organiser 9) the folder view no longer shows the correct photos. The photos are in the correct locations and the properties also show the correct location. If I select a directory in folder view however, several photos are shown that are not in that directory.
I tried to repair the catalog, but that didn't change the problem.
I am very much missing a facility in the Organiser to move directories, a complete directory tree or just the disk letter of my catalog.
I recently had to reload Photoshop Elements on a new computer, and the new install doesn't display the folder view of all the files in the Catalog like it did on my old computer. I don't remember how to get that view back? I've tried searching for Folder View, and Hierarchical view, and explorer view, but obviously I don't call this the same thing the Adobe programmers did.
