LR4.3 installed to the C: drive (default installation). I am now copying from my external drive all photos to the larger D: data drive.
Of course, I have the very latest catalog backed up to multiple places. The old laptop (Windows 7) was just a single C: drive instead of the two drives I now have.
2 Q: 1) To what location do I copy that backup LR4 catalog?
2) As I remember from some years ago, I also need to double-click on that LR4 catalog once it's in the proper place. Is that right?
under options / files / printer support file path / plot style table search..I changed the location to a different place on my c drive and I get the autocad warning.
I have a whole bunch of Kodak picture CD's that I want to download into photoshop elements 12 organizer album. My photos reside on a external hard drive so it is not the default location. I want to create a file location and tell the program where to put the photos. Right now it is putting them in the right drive in My Catalog but I want to specify a file within My catalog such as My Catalog:2013-12 xmas.
Since Windows normally places the pictures on a typical drive as "My Pictures" about four or five levels down from the root, any effort to import picture files into Lightroom requires multiple clicks to drill down to the "My Pictures" then (for example) year, month, date, etc.
Can I define a location as the default starting point to find the pictures? I don't see how to put that into presets. Or can a key shortcut be created to go straight to c:/users/name/mypictures/2013/April15 etc?
I understand that Lightroom catalog backup saves only the metadata refering to changes etc. that have been made to photos. My question refers to the backup of the photo files themselves. If I do a Windows Defrag for instance, the photos will probably be moves in that process to a different location on my hard drive. Can Lightroom still find thesse photo files once they are moved? Or, if I restore photo files from an external drive to my internal hard drive which will probably locate them on different locations than they were originally, how does Lightroom associate the Catalog metadata with these newly relocated files?
I was planing to use an external HD to keep all my photos and being able to work on different computer (in different places) where I have Elements already installed.
How can I connect (synch) these different Elements to the external HD where i keep my Pictures?
If I use backup/restore i would need a copy of my pictures on each computer I use and that is not what i want. What i want is to use the same catalog and pictures when i move form one PC to another.
Where in my folder tree is the catalog I use for Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 likely to be located. I have just installed Elements 11 and i want to find my old catalog? I have got Windows 7 Home Premium IE9
The catlog for PSE was located on the same drive as a programs and even I have almost empty data drive I cannot install any more programs because there is not enough space on the drive for the programs.
Questions:
1. How I can move Catalog to another drive?
2. How I can configure from the start or re-configure PSE to have Catalog in another location/drive?
I backed up my Elements 10 catalog to an external hard drive.I then built a new computer, and installed Elements 10. I then used the Restore feature and restored my catalog to a new location.
All of the pictures came in along with my tags, etc. but all of the pictures are showing a generic icon with a question mark, meaning that they are all disconnected.
When I click on a picture and look at the location, it is still showing the old location, even though I used the Restore function and specific a new location, so Elements obviously knows where the pictures are because it put them there!!!
How can I change the default location for saving pictures for the first time in Elements 10? For some reason, the program is savings my work in the Temp folder when I need the work to be in the Picture LIbrary.
I can drag and drop a preview from one folder to another but I have not discovered yet how to make a copy by dragging and dropping in the library module
I know I can go into the AeccSetNetworkCatalog command and set the file path but I want to do it pragmatically. Is there any way to do this? If so I don't know where it is located?
Just out of curiosity, why is the "my catalog file" which PSE references on the local drive so much smaller a full backup of the catalog to an external drive?
I'm new to Elements 10 and I'm having a hard time figuring things out but 1 thing in particular. I'm on a PC and use Windows 7.I already import a lot of pic's to Elements or so I thought.
When I'm in "Folder Location" and click on a folder it doesn't display any pictures and says "No files from this folder have been imported into Elements Organizer. To add any files, right click on the folder and select "Import to Organizer"
So I do as I'm told and then i get this error."Nothing was imported. The files or folders selected to import did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in this catalog."
I am trying to move my catalog from a Windows xp computer to a new Windows 7 computer. In attempting to do so I an trying to make a backup of my catalog. When I attempt to make a full catalog backup I get an error message at the end of the writing of the backup file. The message is: "Error encountered while writing file."
The images are written to the backup file (> 20,000 images) and the Catalog.buc is written as well, but the Backup.tly is missing in the backup folder.I have gone thru my catalog and have found no unconnected files and no file that are in need of repair. Everything seems to be in order with the catalog.
Is it possible to change the default location for backup files to somewhere other than the folder in which the original file is located? Ideally I would specify a single location for all backups and tell Carbonite and my nightly mirror/sync application not to copy that folder.
After importing into LR3, I get an error message that says: Some import operations were not performed. The following files could not be copied to the backup location.
Then there is a list of images (usually all of the photos imported). This didn't always happen and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. My LR catalog and backups are stored on an EHD.
I am currently saving all of my metadata to files (just to be sure) and backing up my catalog so I can upgrade to LR5 (already purchased) but want to be sure my catalog is good before I do that.I've tried everything I know - checking my backup location and drive in LR window match up.
I am adding them to my LR catalogue, and while moving them to one external drive, also copying the files to a backup drive.
The files are named and put in the correct folder on the main drive, but the photos backed up to the second drive are put in a folder called "Imported on October 6, 2012".
I imported pictures to Adobe Lightroom and exported them to my memory card. Now my memory card is broke! Is there any way to retrieve those pictures from Lightroom. Right now they are saying missing.
Due to consolidating space on my hard drive I changed the location of the orginaly linked files (MXF footage). Having relinked in both Pr and Ae (CS6 latest updates as of posting date) to the new file location all looks good until I try to view the horizontally flipped clip in the sequence. If I look at the footage on Ae its all there, every frame. In the effects for the clip the opacity is as it should be -100%- but there is no image. I see the background footage (working with green screen foreground -hence the Ae project using Keylight plug-in). The non flipped footage from the exact same Ae file is as clear as day.
I have downloaded a TRIAL vers of Adobe Premier Elements 10. I uploaded a vid file and tried to burn to BlueRay. It told me there was no burner location. I know I have got one, so how do I get the prog to recognize it. robo_col
So I just tried to do a backup on my new external hard drive and it said it was unable to backup the catalog. Specifically, "Please check your folder permissions, and make sure you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive." I'm not sure what's going on because as far as I know permissions should be fine and there is certainly enough space on the external hard drive. Idk if this makes a differnence but I currently have my catalog backed up on the same internal hard drive that lightroom is used on, I'm just now wanting to back it up on the external. Lighroom 4, Mac computer.
Where is the 3DS Max 2012 Program Icon(s) located (ofcourse they did not put them in the program folder or attached to the program itself.)

Using a portable hard drive ,when I re-attach to the computer using same USB port I find that it is assigned a different location (eg hard drive L rather than G as before) Therefore LR says the associated files are missing.
I recently had to format the ext drive that my photos were on. after doing that i put all those photos back. i opened Finder, clicked ext drive titled Photos and placed the parent folder, My Pictures there.
When I now look at the folders panel the parent folder is Photos and then My Pictures. in older catalogs the parent folder was always My Pictures. there are no ?s anywhere. wondering whether i put the photos back in the right way or right place.
Even though i select a specific folder when i now import photos they go to a completely different and new folder and seemingly to a new drive titled Photos. that is also the name of the drive that all the photos are on. when i click "show in finder" all images show the original drive titled Photos. so when you look at the folder panel it looks like there are actually two drives titled Photos and the imported photos are now going to the second Photos drive. in reality there is only one drive titled Photos.
i can't get imported photos to go to the correct drive.
My computers HDD (C:drive)crashed. I have installed a new SSD and totally renewed the installation of my PC including new installation of Lightroom 4.
Luckily I kept my (10.000) photo's ánd LR 4's catalog on D: drive. (And ofcourse also BU on NAS)
Since the new installation the drive that was previously D: is now called F: , I don't know why. D: drive on the new installation is now the DVD- drive
I can restore my catalog but LR4 can't find the photo's. How do I change on all 10.000 photo's te location name from D: to F:???
