I have tried everything that I know to do but cannot get the materials palette (and some others) to show in X3. I need to have the materials palette show so that, among other matters, I can change the color of text I add to the image. I did not have this issue with X2 and this issue is forcing me to go back to that older version.
View 8 RepliesI installed a new harddrive on my laptop and restored a Ghost image of my old drive onto the new one. Most of the installed software worked right off. Some needed to be re-activated as the software detected a significant hardware change. However, PSP X3 would not start, crashing during loading. The PSP X. splash shows and the loading status gets to "initializing palettes" then Windows reports "Corel Paintshop Pro X3 has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution...". That's it.
I have un-installed PSP X3 and reloaded from CD. I downloaded the 4 existing patches (1 through 4) and installed them in sequence. I didn't try starting PSP X3 until all the patches were in. Corel.com confirms the activation of the software.
I've used PaintShop since the JASC days and the software works great. However, since about version 9, the software has become more prone to crashing under a variety of circumstances. Now it won't start.
Specs
1.8 GHz laptop
3 GB RAM
500 GB Seagate Momentus XT drive with 4 GB RAM buffer (supposedly a "hybrid" drive)
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
In X4 I could set the pallettes I wanted (layers and History) to a docked position on the RHS. With X6 the pallettes cover the RH part of the window and the image, with the opened image centred on the whole screen so that the RH part is cut off. It can't be centred within the area visible when the pallettes are open. This gives a smaller visible image if the whole image is in view. This is a serious issue, which X4 handled ok ! I've tried all the options but cannot get X6 to behave like x4
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to dock three palettes vertically on the right side of my work space but have had no luck at all. I have preferences checked to allow docking and have used the drop down on each palette to mark "docking" as opposed to floating. However, the palettes always stack horizontally (left to right) and very large as opposed to vertically and sized as I want them. I can float each palette and drag each to the right of the screen as shown but they will not dock like this. I have attached a capture file of what I want to happen and another with what happens.

Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E — You’ll get a new layer at the top of the layer stack containing a merged representation of all visible layers (handy for sharpening adjustments, etc.).
I tried this in PSP X3 and it doesn't work. Does it even possible to do this in PSP? I know how to merge all the layers in PSP but all the merged layers then disappear. The Photoshop feature keeps all the visible layers and merges them into a combined merged visible layer.
If you've ever created an image having multiple assorted layers, and want to apply a modification to the final image while keeping those original layers intact, here's the script to do that:

Just use your favourite text editor to copy that code into a text file, and save the file as "CopyVisibleMergedToNewLayer.pspscript" in your user scripts directory. Doesn't matter if it's the "Restricted" or "Trusted" directory.
As the name implies, all the visible layers will be copied and merged, so it's easy to first "hide" the layers you don't want merged before running the script.
Yes, it's just a series of recorded actions; but the key is its use of the "Select All" and "Paste Into Selection" actions -- that ensures that the resulting merged layer maintains the same positioning as the individual layers. In other words, if your original layers have a transparent background and opaque areas that are off-center, simply using Edit...Paste As New Layer will center those opaque areas in the canvas, which is not what you want....
when i resize an image for example to 27 x 18 cm there is no problem however, when i try and print the image and the preview window comes up there seems to only be a tiny part of the picture visible? its basicly a tiny square in the top left corner of the preview page and its just big enough to see its a minute part of the image i want to print. If i try and print the image anyway i just get "could not start print job".I never had any issues before then suddenly a few weeks ago the problem happened in version x2 on any pictures i tried to resize and print , so i updated to x3 in the hope it would correct the error but its still there. Any setting somewhere , i tried using a trial version of a rival program and that worked fine and showed the print preview exactly how it should.

C:users[username]AppDataLocal or C:Users[username]AppDataRoaming folder, rather than c:program files.
I have mixed feelings about this, because it confuses me where a particular program is installed. But I do understand the benefits.
Installation in c:program files requires administrator rights, whereas installation in the AppData can be done without (administrator rights).
The same counts for pdn plugins. Currently they need to be placed in c:program filesPaint.Netplugins, which can only be done with administrator rights. In a strictly managed environment I'd need to ask my system administrator to add a few plugins to the pdn install folder structure. (Really, our system administrator can not be bothered with such trivial requests ;-)
But if there was a secondary location where plugins can reside,
e.g. C:users[username]AppDataRoamingPaint.NetPlugins
Then any (low-rights) user could add his own plugins to an existing Paint.Net installation without the involvement of an administrator. Wouldn't that be great?
Maybe such a scheme could be included in the upcoming PDN 4?
I'm creating a little icon to be used on another site (entering a contest), and they mentioned something about needing to be "indexed .pngs" to be compatible with recolors and palettes.

Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! View 4 Replies View Relatedhave just downloaded paint.net - no problem on many basic functions but cannot get the line tool to give me a visible line. I have changed primary and secondary colors to make sure regardless of whether I'm left or right clicking the line will stand out against white background. I have increased width to six pixels to make sure it will be nice and thick and visible. I do get the four little box thingies when I release the cursor, and I can then go in and manipulate them. But no matter what I try I cannot SEE a line.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWorking with many layers 60+ is great, but most of the time we have many that are not selected i.e. visible.sometime 30+ those layers are most of the time not needed anymore or make it too crowd in the layer box, making layer selection and handling messy.
The best way is to remove them from the PDN, while keeping only the visible selected. But removing the "not selected" layers one by one is time consuming and again, accidents happen.
Three solutions .
A simple way to do it, is just add under "edit menu" or the "Layer menu" the following. "Create new PDN from selected visible layers"..
OR
add to the "Save As" the option to "Save selected visible layers only"
OR the long way, that has its good things in it too.
Add the option to INVERT the layers visibility selection, and then the option to remove/delete selected layers. (of coarse add an approval "are you sure box")
This option would even be great for other uses when we need to switch back and forth between many visible layers. for example when making animations etc.
Is there a Print Layout in X5 similar to that in Paint Shop Pro?

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that when I fill something with solid colour, there are pixels shown on the screen. When I save the PCX and open it in an older version of Photo-Paint the pixels are not there.
What am I doing wrong or how could I avoid this. There are no options activated as error diffusion...
We print entrance mats and have a fix palette of 44 colours and need PCX files for the machine.
Check the screenshot: space is filled with one colour but on the lower half there are pixels/dots which should not be there...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use the paint brush for editing a photo I have, but the only color available is black. No matter where I've looked in PSP, there was no option to change the color of the paint brush. I've read online that you need to change the pallet to material pallet, then go to "Foreground & Stroke Properties" and set the color box to the color I want, but the only colors I get are different hues of black and gray.
Even in Paint it's just a matter of clicking the desired color to use different colors. Why isn't it so simple in PSP?
I'm making a map and wish to type the name of a few major areas with big letters - but the letters should not cover up too much, ie I'm hoping to have only the outer edges visible of the individual letters and the inside of the letters transparent.

Using PSPP X3 Ultimate.
I have some Tif files and jpeg files that are 600dpi and 400dpi. I scanned these images with my Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F scanner. Can i use my version of PSPP X3 Ultimate to change the dpi value? Is this stuck? I wanted to be able to get the 600 and 400 dpi image files (I have some 300dpi's too) down to the 100-250 range if I needed to. I see there are different export options and compression in PSPPX3Ultimate, but I'm not sure if this will do what I want.
I want to export as Tif and Jpeg again.
Are there any good third party photo and or video editors that I can batch edit this with? It's ok to mention pay programs and I'd prefer good quality freeware if there is such a thing. I am sure that my Corel program can do the trick though. I just don't know how and don't want to rescan multiple dpi's every single time. I only need the archives and then get the smaller dpi when needed.
I was using a trial version of paint shop pro x5 and still had 11 days left of my trial when it suddenly stopped working. When I click on the icon to start paint shop pro it starts up and then freezes every time when it is loading in the spot that says "initializing color swatches".
I haven't changed anything on my computer- it just suddenly stopped working. I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling it, I also tried restoring it.
I installed PaintShop Pro Ultimate X3 several months ago. It worked fine initially, but then stopped running and gave me an error message pertaining to a language error. In an effort to fix the problem, I have completely uninstalled the application and removed all of its registry entries. I then reinstalled the program, which appeared to be successful, however, now it simply will not run and gives no error message whatsoever. When you click the desktop icon, it tries to load momentarily, then does nothing more.
I have removed my virus protection and my User Account Control.
