Jul 31, 2013Knowing that a retouched photo is stored in a specific folder, how to catalog old files that are not edited? The goal is to have a full match in the catalogs.

View 4 RepliesI edited a bunch of photos and then created a catalog. I can no longer find the edited versions of the photos. The catalog when opened does not show any pictures.
View 5 Replies View Relatedusing lightroom 4. i have edited a bunch of raw files in LR4, before i exported the files to jpegs i accidentally deleted the raw file from the hard drive. i ca n still see the the file and images in LR4 is there any way I can export them to jpegs or do anything with them so as I can use them?? yes I have also emptied the recycle bin
View 5 Replies View RelatedI received some exported jpgs with presets (edited files). I was supposed to receive the edited original raw files.
I am still learning LR but if they sent me the catalog file (lrcat) would that allow me to "zero" out all the edits they did to the files I have or would they still have to send me the originals?
I have a lot of images in my library. Last night I was working on a picture, I had to force restart the computer this morning.Just wondering if there is a way like "previous import" to show the images "Developed"
I don't use smart collections much. Could that be set up as an attribute? Like the way Itunes has last played in decending order.
I'll have to scroll through 5,000 images now to find it and export to PS for some final work.
Using Win7 64-bit O/S. My usual procedure from LR4 after editing is to export to Elements 9 catalog using the Cntl-Shift-E commmand. I rename the file as it suits me then export to my hard drive location by pressing "Export". I then go to PSE and get the message "New files have been found. Do you want to import?" Clicking yes adds the file to my Library. After installing LR5, I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photoshop (CS5).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI see a picture in LR4. Open with PS CS3 and crop it, save and close. Back in LR the picture remains in its unedited crop in both gallery and loupe views. If I reopen in PS the crop I made is still there. How can I preview the edited file in the new crop in LR?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the images I edit in photoshop (and then save) are appearing at the end of the folder rather than right after the original image as I much prefer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter sending files to Photoshop for further editing, use simple "save" command to return them to Lightroom. That used to work but now only JPEG files do round trip, not raw files (DNGs) although round tripping to Elements works fine. Photoshop is saving them to my catalogue instead.
Adobe agent spent more than an hour tinkering with my computer before giving up. Tried to blame use of DNG but this is an Adobe invention. Also said to use synchronise folder command as a work round but this restores deleted files as well. He promised to "escalate the problem" and I would be called back, but that was a week ago.
Working on an iMac in LR3, I thought I was deleting one unwanted file from disk, but actually had all 22 edited images highlighted and deleted them all. I need to undo 'delete from disk' on edited files, however 'undo' is greyed out and command Z is ineffective. I see them all in the trash and the preview shows how they appeared with my edits. When I did this once before, I moved images out of trash back into original file on the hard drive and reimported into LR3, however the edits were not maintained. I need to retain these edits (days of work!) so how do I undo my mistake?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been exporting photos into a folder called edited in my originals folder. then i delete the originals and dump the edited into the main folder. but then i can no longer access the photos in lightroom because it says the file is missing. what am i doing wrong? do i have to keep originals and edited photos in my folders? i try to export to replace originals but that doesnt work and it will only work if i put in sub folder. i dont want to keep a copy of originals and edited, but i also dont want to not be able to make more edits in the future.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my PC and cant figure out how to see my edited files from my old hard drive. All my photo's are saved on external hard drives and I have edited thousands but cant see any of the edited versions, only the original photo. How do I get that info onto my new hard drive? I am using Lightroom 4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen NEF (raw files) in LR4 are edited, it generates two additional files: tiff and jpg (by "save as"). Later on, when I want to furhter edit those images, how do I start with? Obviously, I could re-edit from history panel of the orignal NEF file or tiff file using CS5. I wonder which approach is more efficient or convenient?
View 10 Replies View Relatedhow to search to find only edited files and then how to export these files (ideally, along with information regarding editing) to an external drive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently lost some original files to a hard drive failure. Is there a way for me to retrieve some printable files from LR catalog files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently my Catalog and photos reside inside a directory c:/Current (path shortened for simpliicty!) and I want to move the whole lot to a new location on the same drive, c:/NewLoc.
I see many explanations of moving to other drives or machines but cannot find an explanation of a 'simple' move to another directory on the same drive!
Files don't show in catalog. Synchronization shows that the files need to be synched. Whe synchronizing, the files do not import or they show that they are already in the catalog. Yet they do not show in the catalog. How do I fix and not lose my edits.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer this morning and am un-able to access my 3.6 catalog files in 3.6, LR 4.1 rc2 has no porblem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do you add files to the same catalog from different folders?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi moved my original files to a external hard disc. now i can't export files from the catalog. how can i connect the katalog to the original files again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have LR installed on my MacPro and the Mac just died (graphics card issues). I'm going to just buy a new Mac, though I'm trying to figure out the best way to access everything in LR until then. All of the images and photos are stored on a separate internal drive that I can take out and access via a docking station.
1. Does the license for LR allow me to install a 2nd copy on my Mac notebook?
2. If I place a copy of the LR catalog file on my Mac notebook and plug the photos/videos drive into a docking station connected to my notebook, will everything open up?
I’m teaching a college class and a couple of my students are shooting RAW. When they complete their assignment in Lightroom, they Export as Catalog, compress that folder and submit it to me through Dropbox. This worflow works great with students who shoot .jpg but the kids who are shooting RAW have files that are too large to upload.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLr 4.3 seems to reject (video) files it cannot open, in a Catalog.
A Catalog should contain ALL files, pictures, photos, videos alike.
I do not like the concept of rejecting files. This way e.g . old video files are excluded from a catalog.
How am I to catalog the rejected files?
I just mistakenly deleted all my 5000 dng files, and some xmp files are in the trash too. How do I get them back in the catalog? My last backup says it was after I had deleted them (apparently I set it to auto backup?) My only excuse is that I was in an accident 2 days ago. Maybe shouldn't be doing much in Lightroom~!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 2. I have many photo folders on an external drive that show as off-line when I open Lightroom. I can see the photos in Lightroom but can not do anything with them.
How do I reconnect this folders that show off-line and have a ? mark?
Is there an easy way to show all files in a catalog not currently assigned to ANY (non-smart) collection?
Can i set up a Smart Collection to do this?
I'm using 3.6. Can I delete LR2 cat, data and journal files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedImages on my laptop from 2 photoshoots in the studio today were EXPORTED from laptop as catlog and imported to desktop as catalog.
I imported without moving the files anywhere since I was instructed to move that folder to its final resting place.
The 125 images were importred into LR4 but I see they are still CR2 files.
Is there a way to convert these to DNG inplace? or is it safe to re-import these. I don't want the side car gig.
How can I EXCLUDE particular folders/files from being included in the Lightroom 5 catalog?
I want to be able to specify paths and/or filename patterns that should NEVER be indexed in the catalog: not that they don't show up under certain circumstances, just that they are NOT THERE (in the catalog) to begin with!!
I also do NOT want to have to respecify these criteria when "synching" the catalog; criteria should be PERMANENT (or at least 'til they're changed in LR preferences).
My catalog was corrupted, and i decided to create a new catalog from cratch. To my big surprise alle falenames was renamed from IMG_xxxx.cr2 to IMG_xxxx-2.cr2. This is i problem sice i still god the old catalog, and try to recover some of the old editorial settings, but since alle files are renamed the are no longer visible in the old catalog. just about 15.000 files are renamed!
