View 9 Replies View RelatedWith DSLR cameras we shoot tens of thousands of pictures a year and delete hundreds from our hard drives over time. So how do you delete hundreds of missing missing files that still exist in the catalog, which cause the "Reconnect Missing Files" screen to show? Does a setting exist to remove all missing files from the catalog?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI inadvertently had "copy" selected when I imported some photos from an external drive. They were copied to my computer's hard drive. I deleted the folder on my hard drive and the photos in lightroom. Now when I tried to import them using 'add' they are grayed out as if I already imported them. How do I delete the catalog now so I can re-import them the right way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAdobe Lightroom is amazing. Hear this, when you need to delete one image it pops up a dialog box and asks ou if I want to remove the photo from catalog or delete from HD. When you have multiple images selected, Lightroom cares less to ask you and just deletes them. Here is the flaw. Aparently with lightroom you can create a selection within selected group of photos (thats amazing I know). When you select a particular photo within selected group and you want to delete that one photo, Lightroom just deletes all the selected photos. That means, if you selected all the photos in your catalog, it will delete them without any warning, just like that.
Now, why am I ranting about this? Because of this double selection business, sometimes you are not aware that you have multiple photos selected; sometimes you still think you only have one photo selected. So when you think you're deleting only one photo you are deleting multiple photos, and Lightroom does not even warn you or ask you "Are you sure you want to delete 5,000 photos?". This is driving me nuts, I already delete multiple photos from the catalog several times. Yes, you can dig your trash and add them back, but all the editing and adjustments you may have done to your photos, evaporated.
How I can enable something in Lightroom to warn me if I'm deleting multiple images?
In Lightroom how do I delete duplicate pictures in my catalog? I accidently imported twice.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomething went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them.

I use different plugins to enhance lightroom (4.1 at this time). Sometimes I am not happy with a plugin, and remove it. This plugin may however add data to the catalog, which may increase its size.
I think that when you remove a plugin, all the related data (if any) remain in the catalog. So my question is : is it possible to remove unwanted data from a catalog -- without of course changing anything to the regular LR data ?
My catalog is damaged after the power of my hard disk suddenly turned off.
I was importing my images to my catalog when the power was switched off. This caused an error in LR3.
And now I can't open the catalog anymore. I already created a new one and tried to import the damaged catalog into it but this didn't worked.
My images are still ok. All I want to recover are my tags and my collections as I had spent quick some into it.
I have created virtual copies of an image in Lightroom 4 and I am wondering what will happen to these if I delete the folder containing the master image and its virual copies from the LR4 catalog? Will the virtual copies be automatically deleted? If so, is this reversible in any way? Will i recover these virual copies if I add the folder back into LR's catalog later on?
Also will Adobe Bridge be able to read these virtual copies in both before and even after the folder has been removed from LR4? Or is the 'virtual copy' functionality specific to LR and that the only way to preserve it is to keep the original image within LR and never delete it?
I have 2x user presets (one for each of 2x camera's), which I use to apply to images on Import.
When moving a catalog from my laptop (rMPB) to the desktop (iMac) (created of just one image folder), using the export / import catalog routine, these presets just list as "unavailable preset" in the Develop Status metadata sorting options in the library module.
I have exported these presets from the laptop and imported them to the desktop and then re- exported/imported the catalog but the results are the same. Is there a way for these presets to be recognized and sorted by correctly when importing a catalog?
I have just downloaded and installed LR5. I have been using LR4/3/2 and have always successfully imported catalogs in the past. This time LR5 appears to do most of the work as a file almost the same size as the original LR4 catalog is created, but the "catalog upgrade in progress" message just freezes.Should I reinstall LR5?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time I want ro start LR5 I have to delete the preference file in C User data Roaming adobe lightroom other wise LR5 just hangs at strt up screen. This is a right royal pain as it means I have to re do my preferences in the program every time I use it ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedLightroom will not delete files from hard drive. I "grab" the file(s) in Lightroom and hit delete on my keyboard. The message comes up: "Delete the selected master photo from disk, or just remove it from Lightroom?" I always click "from disk." The files are deleted from the Lightroom Catalog but are not deleted from the disk. I have version 5.2. However, I have had all previous versions. The problem has remained the same with all versions. I am using Apple Mac Pro Maverick 10.9. But I have had each version as they come to market. To state again: Why won't my files delete using the above method?
View 1 Replies View RelatedKnowing that a retouched photo is stored in a specific folder, how to catalog old files that are not edited? The goal is to have a full match in the catalogs.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently my Catalog and photos reside inside a directory c:/Current (path shortened for simpliicty!) and I want to move the whole lot to a new location on the same drive, c:/NewLoc.
I see many explanations of moving to other drives or machines but cannot find an explanation of a 'simple' move to another directory on the same drive!
Files don't show in catalog. Synchronization shows that the files need to be synched. Whe synchronizing, the files do not import or they show that they are already in the catalog. Yet they do not show in the catalog. How do I fix and not lose my edits.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn "Folder" I can delete file without problem. However, this is not possible from Collection. I wish to be able to delete files from collection as well. Moreover, when I delete a file in the Folder I do the following:
- Select the files to delete
- Press "Del" on the keyboard
- Click (with my mouse) on "Delete from Disk"
On Mac, I can not use the keyboard to confirm the deletion. It does works on Windows.
LR 5.3 has been running fine since I updated several weeks ago--Mac Mavericks
Is it safe to uninstall the old 4.4 App,catalog and previews ?
i moved my original files to a external hard disc. now i can't export files from the catalog. how can i connect the katalog to the original files again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have LR installed on my MacPro and the Mac just died (graphics card issues). I'm going to just buy a new Mac, though I'm trying to figure out the best way to access everything in LR until then. All of the images and photos are stored on a separate internal drive that I can take out and access via a docking station.
1. Does the license for LR allow me to install a 2nd copy on my Mac notebook?
2. If I place a copy of the LR catalog file on my Mac notebook and plug the photos/videos drive into a docking station connected to my notebook, will everything open up?
I’m teaching a college class and a couple of my students are shooting RAW. When they complete their assignment in Lightroom, they Export as Catalog, compress that folder and submit it to me through Dropbox. This worflow works great with students who shoot .jpg but the kids who are shooting RAW have files that are too large to upload.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLr 4.3 seems to reject (video) files it cannot open, in a Catalog.
A Catalog should contain ALL files, pictures, photos, videos alike.
I do not like the concept of rejecting files. This way e.g . old video files are excluded from a catalog.
How am I to catalog the rejected files?
I just mistakenly deleted all my 5000 dng files, and some xmp files are in the trash too. How do I get them back in the catalog? My last backup says it was after I had deleted them (apparently I set it to auto backup?) My only excuse is that I was in an accident 2 days ago. Maybe shouldn't be doing much in Lightroom~!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 2. I have many photo folders on an external drive that show as off-line when I open Lightroom. I can see the photos in Lightroom but can not do anything with them.
How do I reconnect this folders that show off-line and have a ? mark?
I decided to use my external drive and imported my pics to lightroom 4. I went through a few and flagged (rejected) several. When I tried to delete them, I get the prompt that asks if I want to remove from the library or permanently delete from disk. I choose the latter but then nothing happens.
