In "Folder" I can delete file without problem. However, this is not possible from Collection. I wish to be able to delete files from collection as well. Moreover, when I delete a file in the Folder I do the following:
- Select the files to delete
- Press "Del" on the keyboard
- Click (with my mouse) on "Delete from Disk"
On Mac, I can not use the keyboard to confirm the deletion. It does works on Windows.
I can't see how you either move (to a different set) or delete a collection?

I accidentally resume my photo editing from the "folder" location instead of the "collection" location. So now when I go back to my collection, none of the virtual copies and PSD files created are there. The physical folder location has more files than the collection because of the extra PSD files.
I even tried to "Import" from the same folder location to see if LR would pickup the new virtual copies and PSD files. But the crazy thing is LR does not register any "new photos".
how to get the additional virtual copies and PSD files to register in my collection?
I always rename pictures after import with YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_SEQ-NR, now I would like to find out, which pictures were not getting renamed or where the filename is equal to the original-filename.

I am trying to set up a smart collection to list files that are blank in the Location field. Some fields such as Caption allow you to check if the field "is empty". Location does not allow the "is empty" option. What can I do to check if Location is empty or blank?

I am using NextGEN to export images to WordPress. NextGEN created Publishing collections in Lightroom to match those in my WordPress blog. My problem is that they are not Smart Collections.
Have just installed Windows LR4 trial, told it to Import files from my photo collection in a folder + subfolders on a network attached storage (NAS) unit. Windows Explorer tells me that there are 10,308 files in 408 folders in the main folder, totalling 38.8gb but on scanning the folder prior to import LR4 tells me that there are only 9,612 photos.
My photo collection folder contains only photos and no other file types.
Why is there this discrepancy ? I've searched around to see whether there is some hidden filter that is excluding certain photo files but cannot find anything of that nature.
I am trying to create a new collection but I find that I do not have a "Set collection as target" (or whatever the correct phrase is, since I don't have it.) I have right clicked and examined all menu options.
View 6 Replies View RelatedLightroom will not delete files from hard drive. I "grab" the file(s) in Lightroom and hit delete on my keyboard. The message comes up: "Delete the selected master photo from disk, or just remove it from Lightroom?" I always click "from disk." The files are deleted from the Lightroom Catalog but are not deleted from the disk. I have version 5.2. However, I have had all previous versions. The problem has remained the same with all versions. I am using Apple Mac Pro Maverick 10.9. But I have had each version as they come to market. To state again: Why won't my files delete using the above method?

What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.
I decided to use my external drive and imported my pics to lightroom 4. I went through a few and flagged (rejected) several. When I tried to delete them, I get the prompt that asks if I want to remove from the library or permanently delete from disk. I choose the latter but then nothing happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking on an iMac in LR3, I thought I was deleting one unwanted file from disk, but actually had all 22 edited images highlighted and deleted them all. I need to undo 'delete from disk' on edited files, however 'undo' is greyed out and command Z is ineffective. I see them all in the trash and the preview shows how they appeared with my edits. When I did this once before, I moved images out of trash back into original file on the hard drive and reimported into LR3, however the edits were not maintained. I need to retain these edits (days of work!) so how do I undo my mistake?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLightroom can't send items to trash when deleting files on an external drive if the trash bin is empty for the relevant drive on OSX Lion. This was in LR3 and now in 4. You can get round this by making sure the trash is not emptied after deleting a random file or folder but there has to be a better way!
Also it seems to be a lightroom problem more than OS as Bridge can delete the files with no problem.

I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.
I checked the logs and this is the error message:
performCommandDesc could not perform command ag.library.expandAllStacks (Command was disabled.).
I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.
I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.
Nothing, same error.
One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.

I've got a short animation that I'd like to export, mainly because it's faster to use the tween function than manually adjusting my picture and saving every frame manually. Anyway, it doesn't look like Photoshop allows you to save animations in the Targa format and keep the alpha layer that I need in each individual frame. How I might go about either exporting the animation and keeping the alpha layer, or finding some way to work around this without having to manually copy the alpha layer to each individual frame by hand after I export it?

For example I want a collection with just Black and White pictures, but I want to still have the same pictures in color in a different collection. This is in LR3.

I would like to make a slide show of this collection set, and I would like my slide show go in sequence with collection 1 through 5. Each collection has still and video images and I would like to put a text messages in the beginning of each collection segment.
I searched the web, look into few books that I have and I did not see anything dealing on how to make a slide show out of a collection set.
